He's only famous because of his lawsuit. And after that, everyone grew hypercritical of him despite him not being the worst. Angel was subpar but not terrible in his last few seasons. The main thing is due to his new popularity and him having some of the most egregious calls, it all culminated in an unfair assessment of his career
His next at bat Rizzo apologized to Angel too. It’s a shame that Angel is such a nice guy but misses so many calls…I wish he was nice AND made good calls too, but maybe that’s too much to ask for an umpire lol
You know, in Angel’s defense…somebody has to be the worst ump in MLB history. Most of us, after the first year, when we realized we sucked, would’ve slinked away in shame, but not Angel! He wore that badge for 30 frickin’ years! He should get a plaque, even though he’s too blind to read it.
In my opinion, nothing was more insane then that Wyatt Langford at bat. You could take 99 out of 100 people randomly from public and they would call better than that.

This excuse for an ump will go down in history as one of the worst umpires to ever work pro baseball. The best thing for MLB is to completely erase Hernandez from the sport.
All Angel cared about was Angel. He knew he was horrible and simply didn't care. He was a selfish person to do that. Most people step down when humiliated and proven incompetent over and over. Not Angel. People say he is a good guy, but I don't think so. He's the best reason to hates unions.

No accountability his entire career. MLB is a disgrace for what they allow UMPS to get away with.

Angel Hernandez has no pride whatsoever in his job. His main goal was to be a celebrity and a martyr. All his lawsuits against MLB were tossed.
He always played the race/victim card in those trials too, when in reality, he was just a terrible ump.
every man needs to know his limitations. Angel hit his about 10 years ago and became a piñata
I never understood why teams did not tell Mlb they would not play if Angel was one of those game umpires.
