  • Thanks for watching! Watch this video in the highest quality possible for the best viewing experience! In this video we take a ride on Mississauga Miway’s route 109 Meadowvale Express, which runs north and south between Kipling Terminal and Meadowvale Centre Transit Terminal. Route 109 runs 7 days a week almost 24 hours a day, and is based out of Miway’s Central Parkway Garage. This route also uses both 40 foot and 60 foot transit buses. It’s not too often you see a Local bus on the 109, Especially when it’s on its 3rd day of service.
    2152 is a 2021 New Flyer Xcelsior DE60 (XDE60) and is part of a 5 unit order (2151-2155) These buses are Miway’s second purchase of Diesel Hybrid Electric 60 foot buses, and the second fleet of XDE60’s. These units are also the first New Flyer Articulated buses purchased for Local use since 2013, which makes them pretty special. They are also the second fleet of BAE Hybrids to enter service in Ontario. The units are almost the exact same as the 2020 XDE60 order, with some minor changes. They’re powered by a Cummins 8.9L 330HP Turbocharged EPA2019 Clean Diesel Engine (L9) & a BAE Systems Hybridrive Series 300 Extended Range (BAE HDS300 E-R). To go more into detail for those who don’t know, The HDS300 Series E-R uses a Larger battery and in most cases less engine RPM & more Electricity when accelerating. With these buses being ordered with Mi local spec’s, they have a slowed acceleration to increase safety when running on routes with stops close together. These units feature stop start, which means when the bus comes to a stop the brakes will interlock and hold the bus in place without the driver having to keep their foot on the brake pedal. With that the engine shuts off and starts up again when the brake is released. These units ride on MAN Drive Axles, and have driver controlled heating and cooling for both driver and passengers. These buses also feature USB charging ports in many places around the bus, electric powered doors and the middle seat at the rear is covered with a bar so people don’t fly forward incase of an accident. These buses also feature 4ONE Aries seats for the passengers.

    Why is there a bus in the MiLocal livery running on a MiExpress route?

    • @MPtransit
      @MPtransit 2 года назад +1

      maybe the MiExpress Bus originally running the 109 Express broke down/had problems? So then they maybe need to quickly grab another 60 foot bus not caring about the livery it is using.

      @@MPtransit Right now there are orange buses running on express routes almost every weekday, as well as blue buses running on local routes too, especially route 11, route 11 Westwood now uses blue buses most of the time despite it should be using orange buses. I'm not sure the exact reason behind it but I never hate when they replace buses, and I do enjoy riding an orange bus on an express route.

      @@j_8rzd138 I’ve noticed that too, I always enjoy riding the express style buses on the 44, the seats are mostly comfortable, and I think the ride feels slightly smoother I guess? Another great thing is that express buses usually have a wider rear door to accommodate its role, express service, so they would have to get a lot of people off in a short time, this helps with that.
      For this route in particular, that door would help getting high school/UTM students off faster since this route services Streetsville S.S and the University campus at the very end.

      I see, I take 109 almost daily so I get quite bored of always taking blue buses despite most aren’t bad, now I really like riding the local buses on 109. I feel like the 2010 D60LFR blue buses aren’t in good condition anymore, they are becoming very powerless especially on the highway and takes them so much time to accelerate to 100km/h+, anyway, don’t really like the blue D60LFR buses anymore.

      Beelines over these. They accelerate faster, miways are tuned to go 0-50 in 1 minute on a flat surface with the driver giving it full power. These are governed at 110km/h, but they accelerate very slowly.
