Despite the dagger's lower accumilative stagger build-up, it's charge attack is pretty hefty to interrupt a foe. Dagger is still an absolute menace on a staggered foe, and it's only one slot but with near 100% melee uptime with kicks. (Still puts the user in way too much danger with regular slashes vs a active foe)
Not only is this a great build but also just a phenomenal video very well said and easy to understand. I hope you continue to make voiced over builds like this the quality is top notch!
A lot of melee builds use ranged weapons to build up stagger, and then punish with a melee weapon, or use melee for everything with zimmermans to string together combos. I find this build quite interesting since the wuergers are part of both the setup and the execution. One thing I will add is I didn't see you using the dagger as an approach option: don't underestimate the ability to close distance with melee QB cancels, since their inital dash goes far for less EN, and the dagger can be an excellent pressure tool on unstaggered opponents in a pinch too. You can also mixup by melee cancelling into a kick, which can be useful at times.
Hey I'm glad you found it interesting! You are definitely right that I need to include melee cancel movement into my gameplay. I find it a bit difficult on this build since the dagger is on a weapon bay swap, but that's no real excuse, I just need to practice it more!
@@TylerDoesGaming once you do there's nothing quite as addicting. Still remember watching someone quickboost past me while I swung my sword, only to 180 and cut them in half haha.
Perhaps foreshadowed by its design looking like a katar, you could say that the wuerger is pretty much a right hand melee weapon and I like that that's how you use it.

You got me to finally try the wuerger. I've always picked the 66LS for its spread at range. One of each and an Aurora might be a good option giving reach into longer ranges. All around great vid that opened me up to heavier bodied melee builds and a wpn I've put off trying.
I've been using a build utilizing the wurggers and laser dagger but I felt like something is off with it, turns out it was the generator. Glad I saw your video coz it made me realize it. Also 420 like on the video as of this writing I wouldn't want to break it, but yeah really like your video.
This is a very well-made and well-explained video! I've been running a similar combo build, though I used the Laser Slicer instead. A bit flashier, a bit more reach, and holds them there to get shot by laser orbits. Sometimes I take the opposite approach to the MOONDIAL: go a bit heavier, and take LRB Rifle over the Wuerger to shore up the range rather than the speed.
Wow! For the longest time I've only been doing 2 hit combos on my laser dagger and finish with wuerger's charge, didn't know 3hit combos also create a true combo with wuerger's charge attack
honestly interesting how similar this build is to one of my current builds which focuses on the wuerger/laser dagger combo, however i only use one wuerger and instead have the two aurora lightwave canons because of the recent buffs they got from en specialization and less en load. perhaps ill look into having double wuergers. My build also very much focuses on speed and I might as well share it while I'm here: Unit parts: Wuerger Shotgun VP-67LD Laser Dagger IA-C01W3: Aurora Canons (both shoulders) Frame parts: Mind Beta head (high attitude stability and looks cool) Mind Alpha body (relatively high generator output without sacrificing defense) basho arms (high melee specialization) EL-PL-00 Alba legs (lightweight and has a high enough load limit to support everything while looking good) Inner parts: Alula/21E booster (great quickboosts and high speed) FCS-G2/P10SLT (The missile lock-correction stat maxed FCS) VE-20B (EN specialization)
love the build love the video, love your commentary. you do a great job explaining how the build works and the flow of the combat in the matches. I've been obsessed with the energy weapons in this game, they're so underrated :( I also love iterating on my AC designs, I'll just have four save slots with the same paint job in a row (especially when you can create a theme for the iterations!! love that.). i love the loop of perfecting a build, and then thinking "okay but what if i change... this!" and go down another rabbit hole. time to go iterate on YOUR design >:) cheers!
if you're curious, the parts i've added are the Alula booster (for the speed and cheaper quick booster, plus better assault boost and melee attack thrust ), ocellus fcs (to make up for the basho's low firearm specialization at close range), and ephemera core (for the much better booster efficiency, plus this brings the weight down so the alula quick boost is only punished by .03). AP is still over 10k and attitude stability is just under 1900, a solid compromise for me!

I put together a variation of Moonshot. I opted for the Ocellus to focus harder on close-range, and I swapped for the Mind Alpha core and legs to speed up. MAN this build is BRUTAL! It’s managed to S rank just about every mission!
Its kinda interesting how i naturally ended up on smth similiar to this build while trying to perfect my wuerger AC but also went a very different direction. My current build is also heavier dual wuerger AC with buerzal booster for its powerful AB stat and uses a combinations of vertical missles and active homing ones to divide my opponents attention while I close in with my dual weurgers. That said I think Im losing out quite a bit in speed due to needing the VE-20C so seeing your approach to avoiding that definitely inspires me to tinker with that even further.
Very nice combo! I use the Lazer dagger with the other EN shotgun since I can open with a charge shot, hit the dagger combo, & finish with another charge shot.

@@TylerDoesGaming i thought that 1.04 was a minor patch, and the last big balance was in 1.02, could be dead wring tho. Wuerger stats on the wiki says chrg atk is 1459, which is becomes 1820. The doc also says that theyre changes coming to 1.05 alongside the new parts
For your first build I would really use the vertical plasma missiles instead. They hit 90% of the time and really helps with that extra little stagger. For the second build I would drop the laser orbits as they are pretty bad, the laser turret, laser drones or even a huxley are far better choices. The laser turret would be my choice since they buffed it and it's really strong for a fire and forget weapon. As for boosters, for these builds maybe a booster that has low energy consumption on assault boosts might be a better choice to chase enemies. Imma steal your build though 😁
Hey thanks for the input! Yes vertical plasmas are a great choice in general, their hit rate is excellent. However for that build it would sacrifice some of the already tight supply efficiency. Its always a tradeoff :) There are definitely some good alternatives to the laser orbit on the second build for sure. Huxley shorter range might not be the best, but the newly buffer Aurora might be a great choice now. Not only does it scale with generators for damage, but it also scales its reload time off the generators too. The buff was really quite substantial, I've been toying with them today. They make a good poke tool and also a great punish tool with their newly buffed direct hit adjustment. Regarding boosters, yes for sure, it totally depends what your goal is. Mine centers more around speed, with my only energy weapons being the pokey shotguns (as I call them) and my back weapons being dual 4 shot missile launchers for smaller enemies and to reserve ammo (and overall energy) on the Wuergers. I've been able to handle very difficult missions with an AC that has less than 9000 AP to my surprise. I call it "Hedgehog"
Sounds like a lot of fun! For back weapons have you tried the newly buffed Aurora? The energy spec stat on generators not only buffs the damage, but also reduced its reload time. The buff was very substantial!
I've been working on a very similar build, expect I use the Laser Slicer instead of the Dagger. I'll be honest, stats wise, I like your build. I just couldn't bring myself to give up the lunge speed I get from the Kikaku boosters. I would suggest trying the Aurora on the right shoulder and Sampu on the left. Since the Aurora damage scales with your EN Firearm Spec and the Laser Orbit does not.
This build relies a lot less on melee canceling (but he DEFINITELY could benefit from the technique) so he really doesn't need the high melee boosts of the Gridwalkers or Kikaku. I 100% agree on the Aurora swap though, either that or a Huxley if he really wants an Orbit for constant pressure.
I ran a reverse joint AC using dagger, Zim, laser drones and a shield, to pressure with kicks and shotgun shots while covered on the shield to pressure while using the dagger dash to chase and stagger punish, while the drones help keep and build stagger/add into the stagger punish. What you think of a combo like that? im implementing that combos you showed and with the RJ kick it do deliver a punch so thanks for it.
Sounds solid! Keep in mind your shield will drop when quick boosting or assault boosting. Kicks are great though. Very important to learn and weave into your attacks!
I dont believe the wuerger was buffed directly no. However, the extensive balancing patches have brought the overperforming weapons down a little bit to be more in line with the wuerger. :)

I am glad you enjoyed the video! You can definitely make the build work earlier by using the 20c 128 energy firearm generator. You will need to drop some weight elsewhere though to compensate. I suggest legs and/core swap to make the weight fit. Good luck!

the moondial is my favorite loadout. the wuerger is a fantastic weapon and i think the laser pistol compliments it a lot.

I have a build using these and 2 ORBT's on my back. It was able to touch-of-death combo both AC's in the coral convergence mission
Wuerger shotgun SLAPPED. Mix with rusty melee and a fast lightweight build I literally S class Ayre and Iguazu boss in 1st try. Really fun combo

The doc is most certainly a draft, there's lots of errors. If you check in game, you'll see these values are already live!

Having the melee focused booster is the best, but sometimes you want to invest in QB related stats.
Sadly even medium weight builds get dumpstered by vientos on the acs strain front
