      Hi Dani, thanks for another lovely video. However, you may want to rewatch this video. @9:52 there is an overflow when you raise the level to that last height. Could the pot be damaged? The overflow is not from the top but from the side where the battery is.

      Hi Danny, once again thank you for your exposure, and great to see the many different experiments you're coming up with.
      I've also sent you a few emails with some more info, not sure if they have shown up on your end though... and sent out the updated electronics at the start of the month, so should be getting to you soon.
      Joy, regarding the 9:52 stamp, I believe that overflow is through the emergency draining channel. Probably looks like it leaked due to the transparency of the pot. I will let Danny correct me though, if I am wrong.
      Lev.

    I almost killed my vanda with leika.
    Now she is in a Lechuza Classico Premium 21, she is doing great. I used your method of sphagnum moss and bark layer. I like this method a lot.
    Against all my expectations she is now making me a new flowering stem.

    I repotted a phrag. bessiae into a non-automatic self-watering pot in pure sphagnum (my understanding is that this species likes that). It's doing well! I have new leaves on the most recent growth, AND a new growth coming in. I do flush it once a week, otherwise I just keep the water high enough to be at the bottom of the moss.

      Oh well if this doesn't work out I'll all for a moss setup! 😊

    I think with this setup with a little bit of tinkering, you can make masdevalias work in your environment, that's something I thought it'll work with the 3d ping system 😍

    Hey Dani, absolutely love your channel, ive actually only recently bought my first 3 orchids so looking forward to binging your content for tips. I actually found you after searing about soil mites as I think I have them in my plants in my grow tent, however they are not just on the medium and around the pots but also on cuttings i have in water is this normal..HELP..x

    I’m curious to see how this works out for you. I just ordered my first phrag so I’m thinking about trying a similar setup.

  • @alicesmith2261
    @alicesmith2261 2 года назад

    My phrags are extremely thirsty and I thought maybe something was wrong. They get dry so fast and throw a fit! I’m using enclosed pots to soak them every 2-3 days.

    Hi Danni I ordered two pots as gifts. Heard nothing for a couple of weeks and when I contacted the seller he said it was due to so many ordered after your video. After a month I contacted him again and I got another excuse about the pots and got a refund and never received and decent communication

    • @Levkin
      @Levkin 2 года назад

      Hi Andrea,
      I'm really sorry about your experience, and my poor communication. The initial delay was due to the large quantity of orders, and my exams. However when it came to printing your blue system, it turned out that my blue batch of BASF PET filament was faulty. I printed over 5 pots, all of which broke with the slightest application of pressure. I am still investigating the issue with the blue filament, but no results so far. Hence a full refund was the best solution I could come up with. As I told you on Etsy, I have also recently sent out the translucent mini as compensation, as I believe it's still worth for you to give it a go.
      Again, my sincerest apologies.
      Lev

    I got two types of orchids currently tied to trees and are very healthy. Would there be a way to tell them what there actual names are??? I know one of them is a dendrobium but I have been wandering around local nurseries and I cant seem to find any info. My mum bought them when we were in another city and they have grown and flower a lot in the rainy season. The other one doesnt have leaves, but stick like structures instead of leaves. One can easily think of them as a stem from bushes since they dont exactly look like leaves. But they bloomed recently and were large and pink. Thats when I found out those were actually orchids. Im sorry if I'm making any sense. I know how vandas, dendrobium, cat., etc are suppose to look like but got no idea about green stem like leaves.
    Also, I got a huge family of foxtail orchids and dendrobium aphyllum as well
    Great video by the way. I'm new to your channel and have been investing a lot of time learning about orchids since the past few months.
    Edit: I found the name of the orchid with pointed stick-like leaves. It's 'Vanda Miss Joaquim', a kind of vanda-terete orchid hybrid, which is also the national flower of Singapore.

    Since some water will stay in the pot reservoir, you will have to refill the 3dping system more often!

    • @MissOrchidGirl
      @MissOrchidGirl  2 года назад +1

      Well let's do some math! 😊 Leca is not water retentive, so let's focus on the reservoir. Taking 50 ml out of a 3l reservoir every 3 days gives me a total run time of 180 days. I'm gonna go ahead and refill it when it reaches the pump limit every.. 60 days or so, not 180 days lol

    Hey Danny, just wondering how your phragmipediums are doing in this setup. Just received 2: Phrag. Paul Eugene Conroy
    (wallisii x longifolium) and Phrag. QF Maliae (QF Naukana Kealoha x Nicolle Tower) and trying to figure out the best situation for them.

    Have you thought about foliar feeding for these? Just wondering about pros/cons of that v slow release!

    • @MissOrchidGirl
      @MissOrchidGirl  2 года назад

      Hi, foliar nutrient uptake requires water to be present of leaves, either from actual water running over the leaves, or very high humidity forming condensation drops. When leaves are dry, it's not happening. So it's quite problematic in typical households as it's inneficient due to lack of time leaves stay wet, risky and possibly causing rots due to poor air movement in homes, couple all this with the cam pathway many orchids use for photosynthesis.. It's just not optimal at all in cultivation. I do all my feeding strictly through roots and I don't think I can push some orchids more than that performance wise, which tells me foliar feeding is quite an overkill in cultivation, due to the very optimal fertilizers we use and how we dose them 😊

    What about using pon or some other stone/mineral substrate, only?

    • @MissOrchidGirl
      @MissOrchidGirl  2 года назад

      Not a fan of pon ruclips.net/video/PeJgMq-vQb8/видео.html it's hard to find a good mineral substrate that retains water and doesn't give me a headache lol not even seramis fits the bill sadly 😋

    I think you should set it to run every day if possible.

      Hi, no sadly on my model I can only set it from 3 to 12 days, but Lev said he implemented a daily setting too on new models :)

    Don't accidentally use Cocoa Puffs instead of LECA - keep the two far apart, trust me Cocoa Puffs don't do the job at all. I don't know from personal experience... really...
