Maintenance videos are my fav! Since no repot is ever the same, seems like there is always something interesting to be learned! 🙂
A dendrobium potting video, please. Someone gave me some keikis. I want to plant them successfully!
Paphiopedilum sukhakulii is an orchid from Thailand, the name honors it's discoverer Prasong Sukhakul (ประสงค์ สุขะกูล), the orchid name pronounced Sook-khà-kul-ii. In Thailand is also called Pik Malaeng Po, which means dragonfly wings.
I was scared the first couple of times I repotted my paphs - they seemed to have hardly any roots! But I realised after a few times that they seem to survive and flourish just fine with only 2 or 3 large main roots! Go figure, it's such a contrast compared to my cymbidium and dendrobiums which seem to outgrow their pots so quickly and produce a ton of roots.
E vreo șansă să arăți cum faci repotting la coelogyne?
Repottings are very informative and definitely my favourite type of video
Absolutely love repotting videos
Thanks so much for your videos. I’m gathering my courage to start repotting mine rather than taking them to my local orchid grower. Also, your T-shirt is SO cute. Do you remember where you got it? 😁
I always love repottings, and anything to do with plant pests ;) Thanks.
Good morning! Ty for putting this video up! Paphs are my favorites. Love watching anything about them. I am always trying to learn more. I’ve got 8. Have a great day! Ty again!
Yes. Please record
Cinder (a form of lava) and wood chips absolutely work the best for paps here in Hawaii. Wood & cinder bought in bulk are inexpensive here. Sphagman moss is useful too (you use it a lot, Dani) but expensive and hard to find on the islands. I use it sparingly or save it for'sick or stressed orchids. I am also experimenting with native moss since its a renewable resource and is found in wild places here as well as in backyards. Despite all of the differences between your environment and mine, your medium choices & mine, many tips you offer are absolutely suitable to my orchids too.
I always enjoy your repotting videos. I always learn something new, as well as learn about new species and their uniqueness.
Yes! Repotting videos are wonderful. That way I can have saved videos of orchids I haven’t been able to buy yet. Thanks MOG!
So if anyone could answer this question for me it would be so great, I have a dendrobium caesar warawan its 10 years old but its extremely root bound. What should I do? I would like to mount it but I've heard that mounting is more for keikis so repotting would suffice. I just need advice. Thank you
Good day. Ms. Danny can I use leca balls with coco coir and sphagnum moss for my paphiodelium as potting mix? Thank you.
I feel like you made this video just for me LOL I made a comment on a previous video that I had to repot my slipper orchid and presto you made a video on it LOL Thanks!! :D
I love repotting.....anything would be good for me. Love your videos xxx
I love maintenance repotting videos. I'm always needing to repot, so reminders are great!
I love to watch you replant orchids; it’s so relaxing.
I enjoy repotting videos. Very relaxing.
How do I repot my orchids when the roots arue coming out of the holes of the pot?
This video came right on time. One year ago I bought this Paph and hadn't repotted it so far, but I've been thinking that I need to do it for some time now. The reason being that some of the roots were sticking out of the potting mix. I've been postponing it, but seeing this video made me go and do it right away. Turns out the pot isn't too small, it's just the right size. In fact the roots weren't even that long. For some reason the orchid was just sitting somewhat high up. So I now pushed it down. Fortunately I see some new small root nubs coming. The problem is I realized that the way the roots are growing is kind of high up. I mean I literally have to cover lower part of some leaves under soil to get the roots to grow under the soil, or potting mix. Hmmm, tricky one. I'm thinking of laying a layer of spaghnum moss on top too just so that it will cover all the root nubs.
Glad you stated that. I am having the same challenge with mine.
Instead of pulling off a dead leaf, can we cut it & use the cinnamon. I cut a dying leaf about 2 inches from the stem, but didn't know about the cinnamon secret, lol. But thankfully it's ok, except it's taking so long to grow a new spike or two, it's last bloom was last summer, completely missing her winter blooms. Did I do that? LOL
Sorry, I was talking about my store bought phalaenopsis orchid.
Yes other videos would be great 👍
I love this video. Do more of it 😊
Thank you Danny! Also, I got the besgrow spagmoss at your suggestion and wow what a difference! Thank you.
super nice video ☺️☺️ maintenance vids are quite interesting for me. it helped me know when is the medium not okay for the orchid.
I miss your update videos, how's you cattleya chocolate drop, I always love those flowers🥰
Thanks Danni. That was enjoyable. I am trying the same sort of mix with my Paph. She is new and little and got knocked over my my hubby and lost 2 lower leaves afterwards, but hopefully it will be ok. It is tiny still so probably a couple of years before I enjoy a bloom. But the leaves are so cool!
I love watching your repotting videos. They're probably my favorite videos in all the time I have followed you. They are not only informative, but there is something relaxing about watching repotting, there's also a satisfying feeling to see the orchid happy with new potting medium. Thank you for your great videos. 💖
I like this format. Yes please on cattleyas, oncidiums, and catasetums. Thanks!!
This is perfect!! I just bought my first paphiopedilum the same day you posted this! So excited to finally have one!
You always have great informed videos. Thank you.
Nice tips 🙏
I had to do this yesterday. My new cattleya had sooo many roots growing out of the pot so i took a chance.. I'm hoping its okay. 👍because i did repot this orchid when i purchased it just 3 months ago
It is always nice to watch repottings. I am interested in watching for all types of orchids. Especially for the paphs I find it hard to find the line between place them too high or too low in the medium....
Yes definitely, it's good to see the process. Thanks! Hope you will do more repots.
I've been thinking about getting a slipper orchid but can't decide if I like the flower or not
I have learned so much from your repotting videos and I now use the same media as you and my orchids are thriving thank you so much
I would to see a video on repotting a very pot-bound oncidium.
Thanks for the maintenance video . Reminds me that I need to do some here. I also love the way the birds interact with you!
Do you have any vanilla orchids you'd like to do a video on? ♥️🙏
My vote is yes, definitely film more repottings!!
I really enjoy videos like this 💜❤💜
I love to repot & chill with you, Danny 🪴💕
I love repotting and maintenance videos!
Better to repot Paphiopedilum yearly.
Yes. More repotting videos please.
💚💚
Danny! I am Qasim from Pakistan. Can you please share method for fungus control
hi, for me keeping the environment around the orchid warm and good air flow is one way or use fungicides to protect the orchid fron fungus attack especially on rainy days or shelter the orchid if you experience days of rain and keep the crowns of you orchid dry in high humid season because there is not much air movement. but if the orchid is well established in a way that it sustains itself, like it's attachd to a tree, then no need to do these steps.
I love re-potting videos!
Do orchids need to be pollinated to re-bloom? Thank you Dear
for me no, if you pollinate the orchid flower, it will spend it's energy to the seed pod and not on the next blooms or growths. just care for the orchid well and it will rebloom depends on the type of orchid and care needs.
