- In today’s video, we’re tinting a new Tesla Model Y. This DIY pre-cut tint installation is a hands-on tutorial demonstrating my experience with GeoShield’s Pro Nano Ceramic tints. Installing pre-cut tint kits doesn’t have to be so difficult. While the pros will definitely get you the best window tint results, you can have a great outcome by trying it yourself and taking your time! Keep in mind this is my first time applying window tint. I've done research, but I'm by no means claiming to be a pro :)

Damn, nice work. I'd be too afraid to mess it all up. Also, something very cathartic and relaxing about watching this from start to finish. Nice vid!
idk how to thank you enough but your video is super helpful and save me $$$
Looks great Orlando, you did a good job explaining the process step by step and also the product! Gonna have to try this myself soon! 😎👍🏾
Thanks a ton man! It took a little while to get the hang of it! But after that, it was a breeze!
Great work my friend !
one of the best instruction on window tint I seen, there's one word in your instructions that I don't have, and that's patients, I'm gonna have to go slow with this and pay attention to detail, I really appreiate you taking the time to show us, great job brother, and thank you.
I sincerely appreciate that! Good luck with your installation. As long as you take your time, I'm sure it'll turn out great!
Im using a different company, however your walk through has made me believe I can do this. Thank you for taking the patience to do this. Its what will make this possible.
Here we go !
Thanks again
You can definitely do it! Just he sure to take your time. There's really no rush! 🙂
Question what company did you use?
I used a distributor called TintZoom. They sell pre-cut tint kits. I've installed two of then now, and they work great.
The actual brand that makes the film is GeoShield
looks dope good job
You are a professional!
That's very kind of you! I tried my best. Not perfect, but well worth it! 👍🏼
The most helpful tip for me was without a doubt, tricking the car into thinking the door is closed by using a screwdriver to flip the latch... Thanks for the video!!!
I'm glad the tip helped! Skipping that step makes the whole process much more difficult
100% thought the same. I hadn’t seen anyone else recommend that tips, very helpful.
@@AnthonyRaynor thanks for watching! 🙂
tinted my model 3 no issues. tried doing my GFs 2023 MYP and noticed the seals on the doors were VERY tight. so much that getting the tint in was really hard. One door creased and was ruined. the back 2 were hard but came out ok. I would def recommend removing the gasket on the front doors for a easier install
My goodness, yes! The seals were tricky. I felt like I had to use a lot of force to pull them back.
Thank you so much ! This video really help me with DIY my up coming model 3. Btw, how long took you from start to finished for whole process?
If you really take your time, probably 2-3 hours. This was my firs time though, so that timeframe factors in a learning curve
@@MakingMadeSimple 2-3hours total for all four windows + back glass? including prep time?
@@kannu1994 I'd say so! But honestly, I'd give it more time, to make sure you do it as best as you can. No rush on it.
Great video, thanks for putting it together. How’s the 20% on the windows been? Any feelings of it being too dark for day and night driving? For example looking out the side and back windows at night with 20%, is it too dark? Thanks!
From my experience, 20% is just about the lowest I'd go at night. It's fine driving around and such at night. But, without the light from headlights doing things like reversing into your unlit driveway will make you roll down your windows and look at your mirrors.
Whats the mesure on windshield?? I want to order and be sure on the size please 🙏
Great video, Do you have a coupon code for Tintzoom?
Ordered from Tintzoom after watching your video and it's been in processing for days. I then tried calling and their mailbox is full. How were you able to contact them?
Thank you for the awesome video. Just one question, when you tint the windows, you not suppose to roll the window up or down. But the model y windows go down when you open the doors and goes up when you close. Would it peel the edge? What would you do?
It only moves up slightly, and the window is frameless, so I don't believe it would really be affected. Mine has been fine, with no signs of peeling and it has been approximately a year now 😃
@@MakingMadeSimple How do you open the latch so window rolls back up?
I wonder if i could get them to do 50 for precut windshield instead of the 70 percent they off id like mine a little darker in the windshield because i have extreme sensitivity to light and i always tint my windshield dark
They definitely can! I did 70 on my windshield, but that was just to avoid getting pulled over, haha
Did you remove the door trim on the front doors or just slide the tint down?
Great question! A lot of videos say that it makes the window easier to access, but I personally didn't remove it.
What about front windshield? Does it have that?
Mine doesn't, because the large surface area is a little intimidating to me. But I think I'll be adding it next year.
can i use hair dryer instead of heating gun?
I've heard some people end up going this route, but I wouldn't recommend it. A heatgun is much more powerful and will allow you to move quickly.
Do we really need to remove the trim for the trunk window ? Can we install it without removing the trims ? I dont want to introduce rattles .. Also can I use a hair dryer instead of a heat gun ?
Good questions. It is possible, but much harder. In the video, I didn't remove the trim and it worked out for me.
As for the hair dryer, I've been told it could work, but it will most likely take you a lot more time
@@MakingMadeSimple I just did the fronts yesterday . See lots of bubbles . Also messed up and got two creases. Might need to order new ones. Question - How long does it take for the bubbles to completely go away. I see quite a few bubbles and was wondering what are the cure times .
It really depends on the size of the bubble. I've been told that the very small ones can take some days. But if it's a big bubble, its outline may stay.
Hello I have a question and please don't take this the wrong way but how legit it's tintzoom?
In my experience, super great! The parent company is GeoShield, which is a popular tint film brand, known for its high quality. Their products are awesome. And TintZoom distributes pre-cut tint kits for them. I've installed two full sets of their tints and it's an awesome product. Tinting takes practice, and it's a difficult thing to do at times. However, having a high quality product makes it much easier than using low quality film 🙂
2 months later, how is it holding up?
Thanks for asking! I actually installed these late last year, haha. I just had time to actually post the video two months ago. But they're great. They look as if they were factory tints. And they block sunlight really well.
Where did you buy the tint flims ? Any brand that you recommend

What’s the point of doing it outside first? Why not just do it inside directly????
I see some guys do that.
Heatguns are very powerful. They can easily melt your interior. It's easier to shrink the film on the outside because it's less likely to damage anything.
20% is illegal in USA most states except Midwest.
In my experience, this is a law that is rarely enforced 🫣
It depends if is the front or rear… in NJ front side is illegal but that law is not really enforced! However is legal to put even 5% on the back side or back window.
You are not installing a pre-cut.kit. you are making a pre-cut film.
Love the pun!
