There used to be small brass markers on the pavement of the streets around the square, where Tutt and Hickock stood during the shootout. I would think they are still there. It's amazing that someone could have fired a pistol from that distance and actually hit his target.

I'm sure he was very experienced for sure! I did look for them... I don't know if they have removed them but I was unable to find them, so I'm not sure! 🤷🏻‍♀️

I actually posses a 1 foot section of the steel rail from the original trolley track, that I dug up on north Jefferson Street 15 years ago when we did an underground water main renewal for c.u. it is some of the hardest steel I have ever seen.i had an extremely large excavator with the huge jackhammer attachment on it at the time and it would not break the trolley track ,we had to use a special blade on a hot saw to cut it.there is still a lot of steel trolley track under , Jefferson st.and I believe boonville ave. as well.we removed a lot of it under commercial st.years ago when we did a streetscape project.i also dug up brass sidewalk medallions from under Campbell ave.and walnut st.they had placed them in the pavement in front of the old soda fountain pharmacys back in the old days.they are 4 inches in diameter and say on the."walk safely" "grapette soda". pretty cool old stuff

Good stuff. Thank you for your time and effort to put this together. I'm doing some research on historic Springfield for a book that I'm writing. Your video helped a lot. Thanks

My great grandparents owned and operated a grocery store in Springfield somewhere. I believe it was in the 40s and/or 50s. It was called Ready's Grocery

@@wiserlivingrealty no unfortunately. But our family has photos of the store and also them in front of it. I was told she made the mayonnaise and my grandpa helped his folks farm the items they sold in the store. I have her bread board

Elvis reportedly wanted to appear on the Ozark Jubilee, but the producers of the show thought he was too risque for the show. However, Elvis did appear at the Shrine Mosque.

This is a good catch! I had read an article that placed him on there, but maybe he was supposed to appear! I did know that he had done a show at the Mosque too.

I would love to show you some spots in Springfield. The old amputee was office is where I live. By Commercial st. I just looks like a duplex now. But the best story is there. Also lived on fort st. It was the home of the man who started the news paper in springfield.

I lived in Springfield for a short time in the 1980s. There were bad areas even then, but most of the city is (and was) very safe.

I've lived in Springfield for 30 years and never looked at it as a dangerous city. And I have driven everywhere. Even though it's not perfect but it's not like Saint Louis or Kansas City. JMO
