I started on Carver CX. Moved to C7. Then got a Sweltech off CL and got Waterborne to put on a longboard I had. After a month of that Sweltech I lucked out and found a YOW. I have yet to see or try a Smoothstar but YOW is my daily rider. I broke the spring from almost daily us and am waiting for some springs to come in. I can't get a Decathlon mailed where I live but I want to try that too. Ultimately, If you have a chance, get a surfskate. Period. But if price is no object get a YOW.
For me my go to surf skates are either Smoothstar or Yow. I have owned 3 Yows and 2 Smoothstars, and they truly feel like surfing. I would not look into the Decathlon surfskate, I have personally tried it and it is not really good at all. It is good for day 1 or 2 of surf skating, but you will outgrow it fast. I would look for a Slide instead, they have the best feel for the price.
Wow that was really good. And I definitely recognise the fact that it's a friendly learning community. I have a question about riding bowls. Another youtuber mentioned that it was way harder to carvegrind with the Yow trucks than it was with other trucks. Because it felt like the Yow trucks were from softer metal. Have you had the same experience? And how do the Yow and Smoothstar compare for grinding?
BTW I already subbed after your Meraki truck vid simply because of your style in the bowl👊For future video's everything that has to do with the bowl and pool riding is super interesting. And maybe a special on surfskate wheels😉
