Those inheriting Canadian hope to use the proceeds of the cottage sale, usually shared with siblings, as a down payment to buy their first actual home and the Liberal government wants to steal it. The only reason that some are realizing a large capital gain from the sale of a second home, is because the Trudeau government doubled the price of housing, and cottages, over the past 9 years.

I don’t know of too many properties that would go for under $250,000.
If the property goes for the low number of $400,000, you will pay $99,000 in taxes. You will make $301,000 on your second investment property.

I'm a full-time single parent who made less than $40,000 last year and had to pay out over $1200 for the 2023 tax year. I saw no refund and am living paycheque to paycheque.
