350K just to get a permit is basicallyb a prohibbitive tax... Well said mr Polivre... I hope you actially will make it happen
This was a really strong answer from Poilievre. His communication skills are leaps and bounds better than the current PM.
lol. keep drinking his Kool aid. he's a snake oil salesman
Wonder which news agency made that question?
The beurocrat bs, red tape & rediculous fee's is killing the building of new homes !!! Its rediculous & out of control, in my area its averaging 110,000 to 130,000 dollars before you can even break ground & the time line is absurd !!!
He's right . 6 years ago my rent for a two bedroom apartment was 920$ Now paying 1,850 .its either pay my rent not to be homeless and eat one meal aday. 😢 its super rough on everyone.
So municipalities that aren't willing to destroy their communities by building high density housing will have their funding cut off. Great. What about the infrastructure needed to accommodate all this new housing? in my city the water treatment plant is already struggling to keep up with the demand.
That's where the federal funds is for.. Get your municipal government to build infrastructure
Also, weld the borders shut for the next decade while we sort this out. This immigration is insane.
@bench3885 That just means higher property taxes. Oh goodie. Not high enough as it is.
Calgary? So they have to repair a 50 year old pipe after the population grew by 700,000 people. They'll be fine.
They did. They built one this year now they're building 2 next year. Instant double the rate
Canada doesn't need 5.8 million more houses. Canada needs to send about 10 million people back to where the came from. Canada is for Canadians, not some losers Trudeau and Singh have imported.
It's not going to happen skippy no matter who comes in and forms the govt.
Immigration is the hugest factor. But he doesnt talk about that....
I’m from Dublin, Ireland. I have absolutely no vested interests in Canada, but I can’t wait to see this man take over from Trudeau, and hopefully start to fix all the harm he has done to your country.
Usually caught on camera refers to something not typically caught on camera. Not a press conference…
It really is common sense 😎
Lots of new houses being built in Peterborough, problem is they cost over a million dollars, we need affordable housing not million dollar plus homes
You know, the good thing about watching a Pierre Poilievre video is I can give it a thumbs up, before watching the video, because it’s filled with facts and common sense. 😆🇨🇦💝🥰🙏🍎
89 billion for housing affordability and everything has doubled, at least. Think about that for a second.
Love you Pierre! We need you to be prime minister !!!
Thank you
This needs a serious fact check.
Nothing ever changes no matter what gets exposed
I hope one day, politicians will work together, instead of competing for my tax dollars.
"Get bureaucracy out of the way!"... I love that ❤
Treaudea and the municipalities need to go to jail
Not building houses but we are paying double rents no rent control system
What is the government actually doing to help build homes? All they need to do is get out of the way and let builders build….
My husband builds houses in Calgary and he said work is drying up and theyre at risk of losing work. People from other provinces are coming here looking for work too and nobody can afford to build right now. Unbelievable
Why does he bring up what rent was a decade ago for a 1 bedroom apartment like that is some sort of flex?
My friend's wife has been trying for 8-plus years to get her sister into Canada through legal channels. She is in the Philippines and trying to get here to build a better life. She keeps getting turned down because she doesn't have enough money in her bank account. Yet, the floodgates are open for others. Pathetic
Pierre in 2024 💪💞 you need to work hard for this Pierre....you must 👍
I appreciate him but Canada needs money.
Many people I believe that live in a single family dwelling paid to be in a r1 Zoning and DON'T want it changed in thunder bay Ontario...PERIOD. NO thanks FORD. Way to many problems not just parking! Wake UP!
Getting Government out of the way is a start. However I teach Trades, Carpentry at a University. We are in critical shortages across Canada of skilled trades people...period. These "false" announcements will not change that. To say "We" are going to build housing is smoke and mirrors for the electorate. You cannot build them any faster, or more of them without trades. Like their Carbon emission goals, all falsehoods and propaganda. Now with all the increased costs, across the board ,the material costs soar, as does the labor costs, because the actual workers require better pay just to survive. What happens then? well the cost of housing increases. When I hear government "subsidies" that means more of my tax dollars are going towards someone else's housing, when I myself can't afford my own. For the love a Peter, Paul AND Mary!!! Can no one see the circular issues here?!!
Even just land is ridiculously expensive. My G/F and I want to buy a 1/4 acre to build a partially Off Grid container home on but can't cause the land itself is several hundred thousand or more where we are
"I don't disagree. The math disagrees."
Well said.
Here in port colborne they make it almost impossible to build a house on a lot. And you spend about 50k to the government and 80k on the building (i own my own concrete company so i save alot on nuilding costs)
I understand there is a need for affordable housing, but what happens to the people who has poured everything into owning a home and carries a giant mortgage? Will the housing prices plummet?
Common sense ain't so common
You definitely have my vote
