    Looked like a quadruple pushback at DEN! Can only imagine Ground Control telling all of you to 'follow your company aircraft to runway XX' Took off to the north,judging from the mountain range in the distance,downtown Denver would be towards the mountain range--turning to the east for home--final approach looked windy,plopping those mains hard at JLN--did we zip past the terminal as we landed? Could feel that hard braking,short runway? For a mid-October flight,didn't see any fall foliage just before touchdown. Did your aircraft turn back to DEN or did it go to IAH or ORD?

    • @sla31
      @sla31  2 года назад

      Yes, that was the terminal we passed during landing. And no, you won’t see much fall foliage around here until early-mid November. I’m still mowing my grass in early November most years. The trees in my backyard still haven’t lost all of their leaves and it’s December 11th now haha. We don’t usually get our first really hard freeze until November, so not much changes before then. Then, it’s late March, early April, before spring really takes over. I’ve come back from spring break trips in mid March to snowstorms and snow covered ground before. I’ve taken off out of MCI in snow as late as April 14th before. As for the aircraft, if I remember correctly, it turned and went to IAH.

    I agree with everyone - great videos! I’ve flown the United CRJ into Dickinson ND, which is the only service in our tiny airport. Does the spool up to V1 seem long? Seems like the takeoff took up almost the entire runway.

    They were still at work on the other runway at JLN in mid October, I see. How long has it been out of service, now? It's been quite a while, no? What are they doing? Just a complete resurfacing or...?

    • @sla31
      @sla31  2 года назад

      The new runway was actually dedicated today. It's still not 100% complete. It has to be painted, and presumably the FAA has to come and do flight checks on their equipment, but I think it's supposed to open in a week or two. It's been closed now for most of this year. It's taken so long because it was a complete re-build, not just a resurfacing. They removed everything from the previous runway, even the base rock. I don't know how thick it is with the new base rock, but I saw that it was 13" thick concrete for the entire length with 16" thick at the touchdown zones. Also, It was asphalt before. The concrete means it's weight rating more than doubled, and I also heard it's the first runway in the FAA central region to have a full LED lighting system.

    What are the circular areas on the ground please??

    • @sla31
      @sla31  2 года назад

      Those are just crops (farm fields). Of course, the whole middle of the United States is a huge agriculture producer. Known as the breadbasket, it's the area from around Ohio to Colorado, and north of Texas. Anyways, there are certain times of the year, where crops can still be grown, but there isn't enough natural rainfall to sustain them. That's why you see circular crop fields. Those fields are being irrigated, and that's done by large pipes that are elevated above the crops, that move around the field in large circular motion. It's called center pivot irrigation if you want to look into it more yourself.

    Great fly! Have you heard American Airlines drops some dosmatic and international flight due to Boeing 787s aircraft? Boeing was unable to deliver 787s to American Airlines what they have in order.

    • @sla31
      @sla31  2 года назад +1

      I did see that. They're having to completely rework their 2022 international schedule because of it. I'd say they're probably regretting their decision to retire all their A330's at this point...
