I am shopping. I want the r-15m but i keep reading about deficiency in the bass. What is your opinion? The Powering in the PM's just make them more versatile and not any better, correct? Thanks
@@marc1021 I believe bass response is somewhat room dependant & subjective. I have no problem with them in a medium size room, but I'm also not a bass junkie. I've had them hooked up to 3 different power sources: a 120w HK receiver, a 90w Marantz receiver, and a 20w chip amp, and they played wonderfully through each.
Nice video. I had both of these speakers for a little while and I did a few side by side comparisons between them. Overall I found myself preferring the R-15PM, but I think a large part of that simply because I've owned them longer I've grown accustom to their sound. The most noticeable difference between the two was the dynamic bass EQ feature on the R-51PM. I wasn't really a fan of it myself (although I think it's a great idea in theory). With it turned off the R-51PM just sounded kind of dull. And I mean that in the best way possible. The think Klipsch made an effort to fine tune the R-51PM give it a slightly more balanced sound. The result though was losing some of the character that made the R-15PM special in my opinion. At the end of the day neither speaker going to win any awards for being the best speaker in their price range so I kind of wonder if Klipsch wouldn't have been better off sticking with the slightly colored sound of the R-15PM just to distinguish them from the pack. All that said, I'm really splitting hairs to find a difference between the two. Neither speaker seemed more detailed than the other and if I was choosing to buy one or the other I'd just get the cheaper one.
To all the people saying '' It's stupid to stream xyz via RUclips and play over my system, we will learn nothing...'' I have worked in the audio industry for over 30 years and know well almost everything that has been made since 1950. (So i know how a lot of stuff ought to sound). What you do seem to get via RUclips is the essence or character fairly accurately. It would be difficult to put a percentage on it. It is hard to understand how! (mine being very transparent and revealing system - so for sure that will help...). So you should take it for what it is. If care has been taken to record the original and you yourself have a decent system then you can expect to get a good idea of certain areas of performance. You can't expect the subtleties to be revealed or areas where a certain product excels, like bass or transient response..These have to be missing if your system can't manage it etc. But you do get a better idea than seems possible. I'm always amazed how much comes over.
I agree. And what I can easily tell from this video using my headphones is that Klipsch is not for me. Maybe for my dad but to me they sound harsh as hell. Like, all tweeter, no mids and lows.
I bought a pair of (perfect) B-Stock R-15M from Woot for $109 earlier this year. Hard to beat for that price. Also very hard to replace the pair of Wharfedale EVO2-10 I sold, but they were a bit overkill for the room the were in, and I honestly don't listen as critically as I once did, so I'm very happy with this purchase and would strongly recommend them to anyone looking to spend less than about $250 on a pair...if you can still find them 👍
I can't tell much the difference, maybe in person if you listen to them will be better! Either one you get will be good, I was never disappointed by Klipsch so far!
Amazing how indistinguishable they are from one another. The specs suggest that the 51s are louder but the low frequency is no better. Neither is the high frequency. The mids are more natural in the 15s. Considering, the 15s are a Steal at $100 cheaper.
I have R-15 PM, but can' t decide if USB SPDIF output sound better than APT-X bluetooth or optical output. I don' t like analog output sound. Any ideas or maybe better ears opition? Thanks
It depends on the sound you'd like to get. For example, for music in general I prefer bluetooth and of course RCA. And I have two scenarios for each. If I want to listen to music that I know doesn't require so much "details" like extreme metal, I prefer bluetooth with aptx codec, if it is music like post rock, instrumental, etc, I prefer to have an analog input but I have to say that bluetooth and spdif is also great . If I want see a movie, of course the spidf is the best option, I don't use optical, it is more about your taste.
On the last track, you can clearly hear how much clarity R-51PM has. R-15PM sounds mediocre to me. Even it makes me think; could it be the worst speaker that Klipsch come up with?
You are correct. I’ve heard more and more commons like this happened. If you want a wireless hook up, Kanto YU6 and Edifier S1000mk2 may give you smoother experience.
Bass is the easiest thing to fix by adding a sub. In fact even the strong bass The Five needs a sub to share burden of low frequency to bring out more precise mids and highs.
Yep. I've been doing tons of reading up on this stuff. From what I gather from guys who know their stuff: If bass impact and punch really matter to you, DO NOT get bookshelf speakers without a subwoofer.

I cannot realize differences. I've just owned a R-51PM. Really love this. It's cheaper ($100) than the R-15PM and it is also a newer model.
That's cuz your listening through phone speakers
Love the sound of R 51pm. The sound a little bit bigger than R 15pm. Thank you.
The 51's are slightly produce slightly more false dynamics. The 15's are more precise and reference like. But both great for the price.
Near identical. I just bought the R-15M on woot for $109, couldn't be happier!

For me, before i saw graphics, new has a bit deeper bass but old better balanced tweeter and better look. All is about taste, nothing more. . .
