  • Earlier in the year, I talked about how the hit HBO show Euphoria used Kodak's revived Ektachrome 100 as the visual signature its second season. Today, I share a roll of Ektachrome 100 spooled from cinema stock by Atlanta Film Co. and sold as Euphoric 100, intended to be processed in the ECN-2 process used by Euphoria cinematographer Marcel Rev. This creates a unique look seen in movies like Spike Lee's Rounders. In this video I use Kodak Gold 200 and Cinestill 800T with a Hasselblad 503CW, and I use a Nikon F3 with the Atlanta Film Co. Euphoric 100 35mm film.

The ecn2 results are really cool. Its as if you pull a few Lightroom sliders to the right 😅

Haha, yeah! Lots of saturation, lots of contrast. I've been begging for more saturation in film, and this definitely delivers. I'm excited to try it in more controlled lighting now that I know how it works.

Hey! Sorry for the delayed response ... got an emergency wedding gig that came up. ha. The light is a Weeylite Ninja200 60W bi-color ... I'm going to be doing a bit of a review on it soon!

My favorites of this episode are: 7 - 12 - 14 -20 -25 - 28 -31 - 33 & 34. My top three are: 7 - 12 & 28. I really like the tones and character of this film. And I don't know exactly why, but reminds me a lot of three video clips from the late nineties: Semisonic - Closing Time, Goo Goo Dolls - Iris & The Verve - Bitter Sweet Symphony. Just feels a bit "Emo"

That makes a lot of sense! And I'm sure this technique was used in a ton of music videos around then, too. It was in some movies, but the lower budget of the video probably meant it was a lot easier to deal with. An iconic look for sure. Thank you!!

Oh jeez ... thanks for catching that! Definitely easy for one to sneak in when having to change the title a few time to get the almighty algorithm to listen ... and random keystrokes love jumping at the end of description boxes. Thanks for watching and commenting, as well!
