Scarborough - my home town! Thanks for posting that, it brought back a lot of memories, and gave me some incentive to pay a visit to the old place. I haven't been back since a brief visit in 2011.
7:46 Used to be an old guy who'd visit my Essex local on a Friday/Saturday night selling seafood from a wicker basket.Sea food cocktail was my fave. Rollmop, Whelks, shrimps, mussels smothered in Thousand Island dressing and black pepper.
snap, we used to get the same in chelmsford, we'd all dive in and they complimented a night with a few pints and darts ! Back in the 80'/ 90's. happy days
@@goodfes Back in the '60s / '70s for me. There was a local pub, which some mates and I used to frequent and it had a permanent seafood stall outside, with all the different types of shellfish offered on little ceramic plates. With lashings of good strong vinegar and a ton of pepper, you could work your way through the whole variety, no problem, well I could at least! Occasionally, I'd call in on a Sunday lunchtime and buy half a pint of winkles for tea later on. A winkle sandwich or two was manna from heaven but then I'm a Battersea lad at heart!
chips look AMAZING! Much better than what we get down south. I always remember fabulous fish & chips in Pickering served with tonnes of bread and butter!
One of the happiest memories was going to scarborough for the day with my mom..you captured it beautifully. And I thank you for reuniting me with a place ive always dreamed of returning to
Prices have certainly risen since I lived in Scarborough and left the UK a few years ago. £6.50 for a cheese burger! Can get a good American burger, chips and a drink in a cafe where I live for less than that.
Scarborough!!!!! Top place to go, along with Whitby! We come from Naarfik and love Yorkshire to bits! Proper places, proper people and proper grub!!!!!!!!
They call that vinegar at 02:12 ? Talk about watered down! It's more like feline urine! The seafood platter loks delicious but there should be a whelk or two in there as well, all followed by a plate of jellied eels!
Great vid, absolutely love Scarbados, Harbour bar is amazing, just a couple of points in my opinion, Lifeboat Fishbar is head and shoulders better than all the seafront chippys, and also, when the hell did we start calling traditional seaside food 'streetfood'??? ridiculous terminology...
Scarborough looks a nice place, wish they would put dates on rock as a lot of the time you buy it its soft without a date you don't know how old it is.
🇦🇺 busy chip shop ,i like there work flow and service style. Food looks good I wont eat cookles because i selll them live and i feel bad to eat them .funny how that is . Donughts and icecream ,the lollie shop id be abig kid all over again what fun .
The fake lobster tail is more than likely king prawn flavour tails you get them in iceland. I do like that ice cream shop although last time i was there i had the megacone couldnt finish it all was not a huge fan of the sorbet they put in the bottom of the cone.
i prefer the cherry and nut nougat and i love he sea food from scarborough because it is fresh from the trawlers the best fish and chips shop is near peasholme park where all the locals go it is called north bay fisheries
If i ever visit seaside i always buy gulls a large bag of chips and scraps as they are ravenous, can not understand why some people slate the gulls, after all they are part of our heritage, visiting the seaside would not be the same without the sound of the gulls, all gods creatures great and small, shame on the people that condemn them...
@@johnswift1736 I live in Eastbourne the ‘sea rats’ as l call them are a pain in the arse if you buy any kind of food near the seafront. As they’re protected (fuck knows why) and with so much food around they breed like rats.
They're like drunk Native Americans hanging around saloons begging for whisky. You think 'ah, how magnificent they once were but now look at them'. Seagulls once made a hard living from fishing the seas but now they're too feckless and indigent to be the magnificent bird they could be and just steal junk food and scavenge waste bins to live
I was once at a North Wales seaside town & whilst waiting to cross the road a gull swooped & took the burger meat out of a boys hand right in front of me. Take yer air rifle to the beach with you I say 🙂

Me too, I lived there for 20 years as a Joiner, I left 16 years ago to Germany where you cant find descent Fish and Chips EVER.

what a touching comment
Love your video. Fish and chips reminds me of my old days in London in the 80s
I loved the video, thanks for doing it! I was a little tyke in the early 1960’s when I was last there. This brought back fond memories! Thank
Thanks for taking me back, being an expatriate it is grand to take in the seaside atmosphere, very English
Thank you very much for sharing! Great video! Like 398
really enjoyed watching and seeing my fave street food. i also love the smell and taste of hotdogs and fried onion.
Thank you for watching. I always find it hard to resist the smell of those onions! 🥰

We are constantly ripped off here in the UK now, especially if you live in the South.
Early 1960s could get Roses Bitter one & three pence a pint.
Bye gum thaat knecking some snap and spice!! I'm a 67 year old Sheffielder and bin going to Scarborough all my life, can't beat it.
Loving your videos!!! Just found you on YT today and have watched a couple including this one and your 9 days in NYC one! Keep it up!
Cheers, I figured out that I like watching other people's food vids, so why not make my own! Thanks for watching!
Used to be a really good oyster bar down where the old lifeboat house was, £1.50 for a good oyster and a bit of tabasco sauce on top.
Love to see you do a video on the viscount open top bus
We used to go to the harbour bar 40 years ago when my kids were small xx
Going to do a video there soon. Still going strong and probably one of my favourite places ever. :)
Looks yummy
Good video
You stay safe 👍
I love Scarborough. The US-style 60s cafe on the front that does the most amazing sundaes is great.
Yeh there cream and waffles are horrible though and they sell horrible Belgian waffles not American ones
Scarborough!!!!! Top place to go, along with Whitby! We come from Naarfik and love Yorkshire to bits! Proper places, proper people and proper grub!!!!!!!!
Just a tip - always vinegar first. If you salt chips first, the vinegar washes the salt off; vinegar first and the salt sticks to the wet chips
Exactly ! It's a technical thingy ....& spoils it for me anyway 😀👍
This randomly popped up in my feed and now I want doughnuts. Do I go to south bay today?
Just one thing, I have never in my life, seen them fish sticks swimming around, in the sea, so how is it fresh sea food.
Yeah I think they bulk them out to charge more.
You’re right, it’s over-processed imitation rubbish!
@@you_fat_custard you called fake processed lobsters tails fresh? Hahahah
I know. Its a bloody sad state of affairs
@@kjdempsey He shit it from cockles and mussels. He's not going to have a clue is he?

i only have hendersons relish on fish and chips
Never had that. Will try next time I get fish and chips. 🥰

Can buy Henderson relish in morrisons
Lemon top icecreams originated at Pacittos ice cream parlour in Redcar?

Actual malt vinegar with fish & chips ?
What a really great channel
Thanks Geoff!
Jockey’s whips and Lilian Gish👍

Will try the Lifeboat next time we’re out. For scientific research purposes of course. 😂
Yep, streetfood sounds like summat you scraped off the pavement.

Yeah I’m not a big fan of the shellfish. Much rather have doughnuts and ice cream!
Most chip shops do NOT use malt vinegar but non-brewed condiment.
What, not Harry Ramsden's?
Burnt down and it’s a Papa’s now.

Looks good But you can hear the enemy in the back ground waiting to get your chips 🍟 Seagulls
They water down the vinegar..........ones on sea front...stalls...😆
Those chips looked quite small and not very crispy much better quality here on the South East Coast. the fish looked good though.
Crabsticks have never seen the sea and most seaside resort towns are just tacky these days
Thats why I like to photograph them in black and white, which gives a bit of grittyness
You're eating those chips unduly slowly.
what is imitation lobster ffs .
About £30 cheaper than the equivalent amount of real lobster 😁
To be fair, a lot of people do eat it. I don't like it, though.
Those chips looked dreadful. I hope they tasted better than they looked.
They were alright. I’ve definitely had better in this town. Just have to head away from the seafront.
thats what i thought too lol
@@you_fat_custard You only need to go to the Lifeboat Fish Bar, I used to drive across town to avoid seafront chippys.
Happy people..not! Go to whitby!
Seagull bait lol
Bet the Seagulls have a field day with all that crap food !
They’re desperate for it. The chip boxes come with lids these days. You have to be super careful not to be mugged by a gang of seagulls.

@John Swift they are small there compared to the dino mutant uber lord gulls we have in Aberdeen. The have been known to fly off with small dogs
