Had my tag exact same one for nearly nearly 10 years i think. Worn very often over the years even 1.5 years travelling Asia. Can honestly say still looks relatively new. Love the piece very robust design
The clasp has been upgraded! I just received my WAZ1112 which I purchased direct from T/H and I'm happy to report that they have upgraded the clasp "blades" to a much more robust and attractive brushed stainless steel. One "nests" inside the other, very much like the Breitling's (minus the easy adjustability). You can't tell from the photos at the T/H site but it is definitely much nicer than the one I've seen in all the reviews from the past couple of years. I'm very happy with my new watch! If you purchase from a retailer be sure to ask if it has the newer-style clasp.
This is a solid piece. Nothing horilogically advanced here in terms of movement, but still a top 10 quartz watch. Rugged, accurate and with a retro chic vibe.
I have a Tag Link quartz. It finds it’s way onto my wrist most often. Great solid quartz watches for everyday wear. You can feel the difference between a low end Tag and a high end Citizen, Oris, or Hamilton. People hate on Tag, usually they have never worn one.
Just got gifted this watch for my graduation from college tonight (3 Chrono version, also excuse my terminology as I am not a watch person) and I have to say, this video put it all on the table for me so I really appreciate this review. Also, you talked quickly (positive for me) without repeating anything you are saying. Very effective at getting crucial information to your audience without beating around the bush which is rare on this website. Love this and I have subscribed. Thank you for educating me on my new beautiful watch! Can't wait to watch more and learn about these amazing products!
Great watch. Literally just bought one yesterday! By the way the operation of the uni directional bezel works like this: you move the arrow (tag logo) to where your minute hand currently is, and then the bezel will indicate to you the position of 15,30,45 minutes will be from the logo (your current time) etc. Like a timer.
It’s the branding ... the advertising... the sponsors... all good to keep the brand alive and aware to all. Tom Brady is not an ambassador for Casio ... just saying. I like Citizen for this but I do like Tag designs and not sure why so much hate. What kills me is the snobs who rag on tag and seiko then drive Japanese cars and buy Dept store clothes. It’s as if the watch elevated everything... but then they do everything else normally.
Nick, Really enjoy your channel. Not parroting stupid, watch-snob cr@p is a refreshing difference from other channels. A very fair review and best review of a TAG watch I've seen yet. I own a number of Swiss watches, but my F1 quartz is my EDC because it is tough and accurate. I know it's not perfect, but I consider it fairly priced, and I can be fearless with it because I didn't have to pay for it with gold bullion. Impressed you captured my experience with the F1 even though you've only handled it a short while.
I just got my tag f1 yesterday. I absolutely love it. Clean simple style. I use the dive Bessel for lunch and brakes. Even to time my shop guys for their brakes lol. And the glow IS INSANE BRIGHT. I like it a lot. I got this one for like $700.
Nice review. That formula one came out a few years ago. I have the most recent one. It has a black titanium bezel but everything else is the same. It is a great watch. And I bought the quartz version on purpose. You just can't beat quartz. Especially because I work around magnets. Glad I watched this because now I know it has a race suit extension. Thanks for making this video!
I had the automatic version of that one. Sold it though since I was never really wearing it but I did like it a lot. I did also own the Aquaracer in Blue. Actually the Quartz version and that one I am really missing so I think that one has to be re-aquired.
Oh no, I was doing so well resisting getting into watches, and now you have me wanting a watch I never would have considered. I gotta go call my Watchaholics Anonymous sponsor!
This guy is a great sales person, this much talk on a watch? I am sure the manufacturer of the watch won't even say this much about the watch. Thanks for your review man, it helps
I bought the Tag Professional diver, about 14 years ago. Lums have faded, but still works great, about 1 second in 6 months. Only thing I have done is replace the batt every two years! But it was to expensive at 2 grand...(I paid $1400), still to high!
Once saw this airport worker talking with his colleague. He was showing them his tag and explaining how happy he was with it. Tag is an achievable luxury, you get a good quality durable Swiss watch with heritage for a very honest price. The formula 1 is a little working class jewel. ❤
I like automatic watches but I get tired of setting the time and month every time I don't wear it for some time and want to wear again, so I am interested in quartz and Tag Heuer. Thank you for the review. Very good review.
Thanks for the really helpful review! Im new to the luxury watch market and I’m in the market for an “every day” watch. This looks like a top contender! If retail price is not advisable for a new watch, what should I expect to pay?
Enjoyed your very informative review, Nick. I bought this exact same Tag Heuer F1 watch over this past weekend. It’s just as you described. It’s a great watch. Thanks!
got my F1 with the rubber strap as it was a gift and i love it. My dad has worn Tag's his entire life and I always wanted one and it is a fantastic watch. Put a NATO ( Bond ) strap on it and it make it so much better. The watch gets hate but they are lovely pieces, especially the higher end ones
Nick, i love your watch-reviews. I'm curious what you think about some of the seikos in the midrange, especially SBDC051 and the tuna (sbbn031). I love watches, but i've found myself loving quartz much more than mechanical when actually using them. Especially if i own a few in rotation, it makes it annoying to constantly keep them running.
nicks always great at reviews! Ha! The Tag I am wanting to get next to my favorite quartz the oceanus! Which is the watch that got me into collecting because of this channel! your the best Nick!
Hello, I accidentally change my date at almost 1 AM just after the date was changed while I was adjusting the time because of the DST. 😟 I even turned the date a few more times before realizing it. Will it damage it right away? 🥺 Maybe I should have just turn the time counterclockwise instead, is that safe?
I don't know why, but this is the first watch you've reviewed where I thought, "I could get into watches." But this is $1000 more than I'd ever spend on a watch when, in my industry, watches are a safety hazard.
Really torn between the automatic version of this one and the batman Calibre 7 GMT. I like the look of the batman more, but am worried the bezel would scratch easily... What is you guys' opinion on aluminum bezels?
I have a small number of watches, and one is a Tag very similar to this, and I like it very much. I’ve had it around 20 years and £70 for a battery and seal every 18 months is a pain, but rather cheaper and more accurate than my mechanicals. The only failing with mine is that it has a white face. Silver hands on a white face can be difficult to see, the one here solves that. As you say, it’s an affordable luxury watch.... especially as mine was 300 odd quid 20 years ago, but over a grand today!
Hey Nick!! I’m looking for some suggestions. I’m in the market for my first good watch I have very small wrists so want something with a smaller face. And would like something that doesn’t have a metal bracelet !! I’m looking to spend no more then $300.00. And no g-shocks!!
This isnt really about watches but heres a topic im very oblivious about. My 940-2 has a weak "detent" and sort-of freedrop action. it wont open in my pocket but is still concerning because it opens without touching the blade at all just from shaking the knife. i have 2 extra omega springs but i would rather not take it apart because: 1. i suck at using the right amount of threadlocker 2. i dont want to waste springs which will help in the future since i still have life left in the springs. i just want to know if this is normal and what i should do
Amplest you shouldn’t be able to shake a knife open. Try tightening down the pivot screws slightly. It’s a balancing act. Keeping a drop-shut action while avoiding a weak detent or blade play
I have this watch. The face is nice. The bracelet is cheap compared to other less expensive Swiss watches like Longines or Hamilton or even Seiko. So far it been losing about 15 seconds a month
If you're gonna go Quartz, you might as well stick with Japanese. That Breitling is a rare exception to that rule, because it's a pretty nice movement. But you can get more accurate stuff from Citizen for a LOT less! Radio controlled and GPS watches are just unbeatable for accuracy.
Definitely the funniest reviewer of all the reviewers across RUclips. I actually watched your video first before ordering mine F1 and exactly this model. Thanks for the review and would love to see more of your watch reviews. My next thing on the grocery list is Longines L26734783. Hopefully, you'd make a review of that as well.
Wow. This looks like a decent $500 watch. At $1200, not even close to competitive for me. Can't imagine not getting those features in this price range.
Tissot is amazing. The fit and finish on my Gentleman is beautiful and gets a lot of compliments. As for Longines, I would rate them as excellent and a better finished watch than this particular one having a cheap pressed clasp.
Also to be honest tag is on top 10 most recognized brands and in 2020 report it’s number 18 most valuable Swiss brand below Rolex in number 4 and omega in number 11 and way above longines and Hamilton
I don't like them because I feel like they are trying but failing to be a luxury brand. I can't help but think that people who buy them just can't afford an Omega, or aren't interesting enough to buy a micro brand or Japanese watch. They just want middle of the road watches that cost too much money rather than committing to the hobby and going all out. It's noncommittal.
Great review. Looks like a really nice watch for sure. A well built quartz is always nice to have.
the movement is not good as longines vhp
Had my tag exact same one for nearly nearly 10 years i think. Worn very often over the years even 1.5 years travelling Asia. Can honestly say still looks relatively new. Love the piece very robust design
I bought a blue quartz formula one and I love it! Never have to worry about anything with it and it always looks good.
The clasp has been upgraded! I just received my WAZ1112 which I purchased direct from T/H and I'm happy to report that they have upgraded the clasp "blades" to a much more robust and attractive brushed stainless steel.
