Haha! This Triumph 22 review comes a day after my comment requesting it. You’re the man! My Mach 5 daily is coming close to the end of life so this might be the move I make despite the heavier weight. Looking forward to more of your insights as you get more miles in them
I've had both the 20 and 21, the 22 is a good step in the right direction. I put about 10 miles in them and love them. You hit every point spot on, great job on the review!👍🏽
I had triumph 21, putting >400km/250miles in last 4 months and still going. Love the shoes, its comfortable, and good for recovery and easy run. One bad thing for me is the toe box is too narrow for me, is the triumph 22 had a more wider toe box?
Great video. I know you mentioned you didn’t feel the weight, but you went on an 8 mile run and I personally feel shoe weight past 16 miles. I used my 20 and 21 for long runs with quality intervals at times. Definitely waiting for the long run test you mentioned was coming up, to hear if the weight becomes more apparent.
In some models Saucony used a slightly softer version of the foam in their runshield versions (like your Triumph 20s) so might not be 100% apples to apples, especially when comparing to the Ride 17
Very strange direction. At face value, I assumed they switched the foam to PWRRUN PB in the Triumph 22 to move it to a more daily trainer, made tweaks to the Endorphin Speed 4 so it's more a speed day ES2/ES3 hybrid and added the PWRRUN HG foam to the Pro 4 so Saucony had two solid race day options in the Pro 4 and Elite to align with other brands with multiple race day options (Vaporfly/Alphafly, Edge Paris/Sky Paris, Adios Pro 3/Adios Pro Evo etc).
Just hit 600 miles (960 K) on my Triumph 20s. They just started losing some forefoot cushion. Awesome shoe. Superbast has taken over for triumph, mulling over T21/T22/SB2/?? for the SB successor.
I think the Triumph 22 is a VASTLY superior shoe to the Triumph 20, which is the last Saucony shoe I purchased. The 22 has more pop. More juice. More stability. More comfort. More --- everything! I'm a bigger guy --- 6' 3", 215 pounds. I'm not looking to break marathon records. I just want comfort and cushion -- and a bit of bounce. Nothing more. Nothing less. The Triumph 22 is a big step in the right direction. ( wish it had a bit more stack height in the forefoot, but maybe they're saving that for the Triumph 23 )
I was looking forward to the Triumph 22,and when I saw it available for order a few days ago on Running Warehouse, I almost pulled the trigger. Then I saw Road Trail Run's review on RUclips, and learned that despite the change to Powerun PB, the 22 is a full ounce heavier than the 21, which wasn't a light shoe to begin with. They widened the 22 base to a monstrous level, and they stuffed the tongue and heel padding to a ridiculous level. What I had hoped for was just a little bit higher stack of Powerun PB, maybe a little bit wider base or a nylon plate for stability, and the same upper as on the 21. Basically, I wanted a beefed-up version of the Saucony Endorphin Speed 3 that wouldn't "bottom out" on long runs. What Saucony did is take Powerun PB and stick it in a heavy plodder made for easy runs. No thanks, Saucony.
I won't disagree with you on that the triumph 20 and 21 were incredible and they had the formula to create a next-level triumph 22 with pb foam to rival the nike invincible but instead took in the "we want our grandma's to wear this at the mall" direction with the super plush upper and widening of the entire sole. This shoe seems to kind of slap everyone that loved the triumph 20 amd 21 formula. They're a business and it's smart to try and capture the casual audience but they really went in a different direction
Dudeeee I just tried this on in a shop too and was wondering if you’d have it soon 😂 you never disappoint dawg. Before watching the rest of your vid- I’ll say I was shocked that this shoe wasn’t overly soft (since this is the first time we have seen max stack PWRRUN PB without any plate). Now let’s see what you say 😎 Edit: you confirmed my suspicions. Definitely a firmer ride (but welcome).
I wonder if the weight will make this shoe less appealing to lighter runners; I don't seem to notice it too much up to about 9-9.5 oz. I would probably go for the Speed 4 or another plated trainer in that price range as I think they would be more versatile but I can see how this might be appealing to bigger runners who need something more solid under foot.
New balance 1080v13. Perfect amount of soft cushion for me and a really durable shoe - at 300 miles still has life left. New balance also has the more v4 but that was too much cushion for me. At 38mm in the heel the 1080v13 hit the sweet spot
I’ve put a few miles in my Triumph 22. I don’t know how anybody can say this foam is firmer than the 20/21. It’s definitely softer but with a bounce that, to me, is more than the previous versions.
Yeah that's why the 1080 is king to me. It managed to get 38mm of soft and durable cushion while keeping the weight down and giving a super comfortable upper
You can get this shoe with 15% off using a coupon code found online, which brings down the cost to at least $150 after tax. Saucony also has coupon for teacher, first responder etc.., which gives you 20% off.
I also loved the shift 3! I have 2 runs in the triumph 22 and it's not that similar to the shift 3 - shift felt a lot taller up with more foam under the forefoot and more of a structured roll. Triumph is bouncier but the forefoot feels lower to the ground. For a shift 3 replacement I would suggest either the brooks ghost max or hoka skyward x. The ghost max is more of a standard max cushioned shoe with a comfortable ride - nothing that will blow you of the water but reliable and comfortable with a slight roll. The skyward X feels taller and has that same aggressive roll feeling as the shift 3 but a lot more bounce - it's like a more fun version of the shift 3. If you're doing mostly runs under an hour the ghost max is probably the best bet. And for over an hour, if you're willing to pay the $225 price the skyward x will be an awesome shoe for you
Yeah I've seen picture of it - I think it's a standard EVA foam in the midsole. So they've made it look similar but cheaper materials and probably a much firmer ride
I’ve only put in 12 miles in the 22, but I have a very hard time believing this PWRRUN Pb is the same as the foam in my Endo Speed 4. It feels considerably less lively and bouncy. It’s a solid daily driver, but it’s not as cushy as the Nimbus for an easy day, and not as zesty as the Boston for longer, faster runs.
Yeah Mmmm 😏 like the previous comment was super excited about this update but the reviews I’ve seen so far are not filling me with confidence certainly not enough to part with £170 they are charging here in the UK. When saucony released the triumph 20 I was blown away and I’m now 200 miles into my 2nd pair. Think I’ll scour the internet for another stock pair!
I've heard the 21 is pretty narrow like the 20. Another commenter just said they are a bigger runner and like the 22 but I have not gotten along with it so far - so seems like this may be a polarizing one
I watch your videos everyday but I watched this one having in mind that I am after a new daily trainer. I seem to have got to a place where I've plenty of recovery and race/speed shoes but lack daily shoes 😂. I currently use the Cloudmonster but my second pair is near the end of its life sadly. Absolutely loved it though. I tried on the Cloudmonster 2 and it was too wide sadly and didn't feel as good. Any recommendations? I have the nimbus 25 as my recovery shoe - it's too soft for daily miles. I'm fairly lightweight (125lbs) so that's usually a factor as I often find a lot of shoes too soft but then the Brooks Ghost max was too firm 😂.
If you liked the cloudmonster you might like the Nike Vomero 17 - for me it's the perfect amount of soft from the top layer of ZoomX. Also doesn't feel as tall and pudding-like as the nimbus. Another good choice is the Mach 6 - it has a little more of a fun rolling ride like the cloudmonster, but it leans a little faster than the Vomero. The Nike will be a little more durable but the Mach 6 is lighter weight
@@supwell thanks for replying 🙂. I actually bought the Mach 6 and Vomero but the fit of both didn't work for me. I have annoyingly narrow ankles and midfoot but normal sized forefoot so often struggle with heel slip. That's one of the reasons I loved the Cloudmonster so much because I didn't even have to heel lock the laces which is basically the only shoe I've never had to do that with 🤣. I find Nike and Hoka shoes come up too narrow in the forefoot but too wide in the ankle somehow. Oh FYI I am also someone who's kind of meh about the Superblast. The unisex sizing does not really work for my narrow women's foot. It feels like too much shoe!
@@QuasiAmericanyeah I didn't love the superblast either. Since you've had good luck with On have you considered either the cloudstratus 3 or monster hyper? I ran ~400 miles in the cloudstratus 2 before I got the cloudmonster and I really liked it - I've heard the 3 is similar. And I have about 30 miles on the monster hyper so far and it's been solid. Not as crazy bouncy as some of the hoka shoes but it's like a better version of the cloudmonster - which sounds perfect for you. At $220 though vs $180 for the stratus, the stratus may be a better buy
@@supwell thanks. I will look into them both and try and try them for fit. I was tempted by the Cloudmonster hyper but the price put me off 🤣. I had heard like you said that they are a better version of the Cloudmonster than the Cloudmonster 2.
Im gonna have to pass on these. Im looking for a faster nimbus, any recommendations other than the 3 on your top row? I do like the SC trainer and the superblast, but any other shoes I should look at?
Novablast 4 would be my top pick for a faster nimbus. It has the same tall stack but is a little firmer with more pep. If you don't want something as cushioned as the nimbus/superblast/sc trainer though I'd check out the hoka Mach 6. Nice softer cushion like the nimbus but way lighter and bouncier
Heavier but more cushioned. Similar width and comfortable upper, but a lot more padding in the triumph. People who like the rebel for short and fast days will like this for some more time on feet - both have more forefoot feel than other shoes in their category
That boy thicc...😂 The drop always scares me after issues with ghost problems. Might as well spend a little more on the skyward. If hoka made better colors for it they wouldnt be able to keep it in stock...
In 2022 I was mostly running in Saucony so that's how I got 300+ miles on four or five or their shoes. And now yeah like Katrina said I usually run 100 miles per week unless I'm in a recovery/pre-race phase
Sorry, I will buy the triumph 20-21, this 22 is going the wrong way. Too heavy. 😂 maybe because the hurricane 24 is going the other way. I just don’t know. I think you like the hurricane more. I got the hurricane 23 for years now .
this has quickly become my favorite channel, damn my mans active too!!

Oh that FedEx clip is cinematic GOLD. Made me smile. Well played.
Lets goooo! Would love to see this compared to the Novablast 4

What are Saucony doing with the Hurricane? The triumph is heavier so what will go up against the Superblast and truly replace the Endorphin Shift?
I am with you man, when they said: Tempus 2: midsole will be the same, just the upper I was like: nah! I will keep my tempus.

Bro killing the shoe reviews
Great review. I’m looking for rotation shoe for Pro 4. Now I think that Speed 4 could be a better option (softer and much lighter).

Let’s go!!! This what I was waiting on.
As a bigger guy, 6’2” 230lbs, I highly recommend the Saucony Tempus. PowerRun PB nice and poppy. Flies under the radar.
How does the triumph 22 compare to the gel nimbus 26?

Isn’t that the point of the triumph though? To be an easier run of a shoe with high stack and plenty of plush.
Might like the kinvara pro (other than the price point)
@@Run_forklift_run I have the Kinvara Pro. Great shoe.
@@Ronaldothegoat0728 Yes, but when I heard they were putting their racing foam in it, I had higher expectations.

As a huge fan of the 21 ( didn't buy the 20) I am super excited about the 22. I love the 21 as a max cush daily trainer for easy paces to recovery.
The only max cushion shoes that can handle low temperatures. Despite the terrible PR PB smell, I most likely have to get these.
You'll be happy to know these don't have the smell! The pro 3s made my house smell like a factory for a week though 😂
Speed Shoe suggestion: ASICS Magic Speed 3 🔥

yeah man it's definitely a lot firmer when standing/walking than i expected. softens up a little when running but not nearly as much as i anticipated

I strongly dislike the 21 upper. The 20 is amazing. I’m up to 304 miles on my 20’s. I love them.
I’ve noticed that a lot of max cushion shoes seem to fall into the trap of “Bondification” becoming essentially walking shoes.
Yeah that's why the 1080 is king to me. It managed to get 38mm of soft and durable cushion while keeping the weight down and giving a super comfortable upper
