the problem with some gorpcore fits is that the way they wear the clothes does not take advantage of the functionality of the clothes, or even sometimes people buy clothing that is way too functional and are an objectively worse option for them. For example the Alpha SV he showed at 15:25 is not designed not for everyday wear, there are no hand warmer pockets as they would not be usable while wearing a harness for ice climbing, making it less functional for everyday wear when a more affordable and casual jacket would be a better choice with the same look.

As an ultralight backpacker, I’m lowkey stoked that I can blend in more and don’t have to compartmentalize my closet as much, as well as how companies are finding the middle ground between urban and backcountry use. Also appreciate how goretex is considered for flashy posers in both camps lol.
Wish more people actually cared about the technical knowledge of materials though, it’s so cringey to see improper material care/upkeep or people complaining about durability for things that focus on ultralight/packability to minimize base weights.

Fk and here I was avoiding Techwear clothing mall ninja brands because they run 1-2k a pop and now the hype beasts are coming after my Patagonia and Arcteryx and Solomon’s

@@avrgegmer1396 yup, I guess I’ll never be able to own those brands first hand again!
Dang it, and Patagonia’s stuff has always been so well rated if a bit pricey.
I was just at a REI, $250 for a fleece sweater?! They’re out of their freaking minds!
And I’ve always liked the 90’s color pallet. Now that crap is gonna peak and the crash so hard I’ll go from nondescript hiker dude, to so last season! Ug!

Gorpcore makes sense in the age of climate change, when the utility of this trend will work well in ever-changing, and extreme weather/temperatures in a single day. Personally, GORP was groomed to me since a small age, since Hot Dog days included a pairing of raisins, and peanuts.

I basically need "gorpcore" clothing to get around the countryside so i have been a fan for a while and it's probably the first time i have been on trend at the right time. I feel slightly scared that people will look at these clothes the same way they look at old 2017 hypebeast era clothes but i think that is mainly with arcteryx and their insufferable instagram/tiktok posers. dodged a bullet by getting a marmot and a tilak jacket (although i did have a blue beta lt at one point that i won in an auction but it was the wrong size so i sold it).
Still saving up for that snow peak, montbell and andWander drip, hope the fashion tsunami doesn't devour those the same way as they did with arc.

As someone that works nights, on an open loading dock with zero climate control, in the midwest, it drives me banana shits that some of y'all be dressing in oversized thermal shit, like this or Carhartt. Tf y'all need those big jackets for. I can't wear a small, i need an xxl so I can layer up underneath and not die in the subzero temperatures in fucking January. Yeah, y'all look dope, no doubt about it, but I kinda don't wanna die from hypothermia at work so...maybe don't buy out all the large sizes pls. Luv u guys
