This video is about the Ugly Shoes iceberg
Other subjects include:
Crocs, uggs, sketchers, fila stompers, Birkenstock Arizona, Birkenstock Boston, outdated trainers, dad shoes, Clark’s wallabees, Merrell hyrdomocs, MSCHF big red boots, Margiela Tabis, puma, footwear, sneakers, boots
This iceberg video is a bit of a departure from the original format seeing as the video is absolutely riddled with my opinions. There are definitely lots of examples of horrendous footwear I didn't include.
What ugly shoes did I miss?
Heydudes?
weed
those chunky converse
Y-3 Brick court
Any Nike ISPA, but especially the Nike ISPA Link (I wear them all the time)
Those shoes ain’t ugly u just wear the wrong trousers
i was hungry until i saw those clarks. i dont think im going to eat for another week
@@lnerqad--5268 the wallabees are fine, you just suck at styling
Amen
*increasingly enjoys the shoes the further I go down the iceberg*
"Oh no"
I think it goes to basic ugly to a more extravagant ugly, which makes it good in some kind of way
@@tr3snt right? Like some of the later ones are downright art.
On god im realizing it too 😭
I wore sketchers for work and after eight hours my feet weren't killing me so I count that as an utilitarian fashion victory
I can't see how anyone could seriously have a problem with what look like normal-ass sneakers. If I wanted cool shoes I'd wear my giant stompy goth boots.
I Have sasquatch feet and need super wide shoes with an unnaturally high instep. Almost no shoe brand carries a 4-5E width. Wide sketchers always fit.
And if I want to just buy a size that fits on width and not care about anything else I'm usually looking at a size 16, which again no one carries.
Clark’s Momos look like something an archaeologist would dig up
I knew a guy who owned a pair. Just another suburb dad. Said they were ultra comfortable. Also yes they looked like leather face made them. He eventually dyed the leather a darker brown to cover up the....off putting wear patterns. I swear the things whispered to me that I should take them when I was at his house. They kept moving so they were always in the room with me.
A lot like what the Iceman would have worn when he died and was mummified in the Alps.
@@barbarasmith7432His name is Ötzi ‼️
I never realized how much wild shit asics have made, I've always viewed them as the most standard option shoe producer out there, but they're not afraid to get weird. I respect it.
def look into onitsuka tiger. asics more high end option. out here in japan it's considered a high-fashion brand
Yeah everyone has been high key ripping them off in the last several + years. Ahem Balenciaga
I like how they give collaborators a lot of freedom
the momo clarks look like they were dropped by a lv1 villager 💀
me at every tier: i kinda fw these
Can’t believe I’m the sort of person to watch 36mins of this, but I am.
Ok there’s some slander I can’t accept in this video, sketchers aren’t just functional they are nigh indestructible, and they extremely comfortable. Honestly I don’t even think most of them are that ugly, they are often bland and derivative, but there are some cute ones.
Then there’s the fila disruptor 2, my favorite shoes are fila disruptors 2 Iridescents. They are good looking shoes with a very unique look, I genuinely believe they are only hated as much are they are now is because “teenage girls hatred syndrome ” where anything that teen girls like is disproportionately hated (boy bands are good example).
What are you talking about? Sketchers are TRASH in terms of durability! I've given them a chance multiple times due to their affordability, but these shits disintegrate after like 2 leisurely strolls down the boulevard
Practically all sneakers are bland and derivative tbh. I hate having to pretend like boring ass activewear is real fashion.
@@weeaboojones9957yeah they aren't the most well made product depending on the line but almost no one else makes shoes in size 14EEEEE. So it's basically sketchers, hey dudes, new balance, and whatever DXL carries for me.
I second the fila disruptors. I need something supportive and mine have lasted me since 2019. Will be buying another pair.
I'm 35 and remember Skechers were so fun and out there compared to most sneaker brands in the 90's and 2000's. Their current era is so depressingly bleh. They're one of the few brands that give us any damn toe space, but they're way too embarrassing to wear
Who cares. My jeans so baggy they hide my shoes
You’re wearing the right trousers
Thank you for making me re-live that terrifying Mulholland Drive moment in a video about trainers
now I know why my wife always just says "car, sports car, big car" when she sees cars
all I see here is "shoe, sports shoe, big shoe"
reality defined by knowledge
I have to be honest, I was never really into fashion but I really love the stuff that you dig up for your videos. They're super well-made and well-researched, I love your delivery and you're very funny. I've even taken out a Post-it to note 3 pair of shoes that I'd love to get from this video, you may very well become my gateway into fashion...
wrong trousers but the right calibre, you have blessed us once again
The Tabi "ninja"split toe shoes don't have a fashionable origin. They are usually used in construction as style of work shoe in Japan. The split toe allows for greater dexterity and balance which is important when building high above the ground. They also usually are worn with steel toes in them.
you're actually making me care about fashion. usually i just put on whatevers clean and maybe match some colours, but now i might actually fund some fashion endeavours
Mmmmmm boiled croc
What da hell
Mans out here chilling like that
One of the only channels I regularly check to see if you've uploaded. Thankyou for your content
I want to point out that barefoot shoes go beyond fashion for the initial design, but they lean into the functional features until they look good…The vibram 5 finger, have a collab with suicoke, and they are such a sleek and detailed example of this.
To a guy like me these are normal shoes
i never understood the “ugly shoes” pov
to me i think all shoes are just meh/ok like any rick owens shoe
Hey WT, I gotta say, never cared too much about fashion, my boldest pick of footwear would've been a wacky colored pair of accics. But, your takes on fashion concepts and trends are really engaging to watch and are really informative for someone who is clueless about this stuff. Mad respect man, I'll be eagerly waiting for your next vid❤
Love it! 36 minutes gone. Straight in and out. Thank you!
Hell yeah
Thanks for the good research, well-edited video and nice summary!
i was ugly before it was cool
This is a really incredible video. The audio and video go along so seamlessly, he got the editing just right. Every image shown is relevant to the current thing he's saying at this exact moment, without being distracting. Remarkable
Oh and also the things he's saying are really good too
Absolutely sterling work here, top notch!
Ong I watched this in a different timeline already I swear to everything I love… amazing video and easily can watch it twice or rewatchable rather
I'm high af why is this comment so real
I love this channel I show your videos to my buddies
Thank you friend, very good video! Love your channel!
I know the couple in the picture wearing formal wear and the vibrams. Haven’t seen them in a decade, but first people who popped into my mind when you started talking about the vibrams were those two. So crazy they made it into the vid it made me rewind to do a double take!
gOOD VIDEO, IN THE MOMENT I READ THE TITLE I KNEW THIS WAS GOING TO BE INTERESING
great research love it, pls make more!
Crocs are ironically really good for foot health and promote a good arch.
This is the kind of content I didn't knew I was craving
Thank you! Added a few items to my wishlist
The five finger shoes do actually improve foot health. The lawsuit won only because they weren't told that you need to ease into wearing them in order to not get injured
Can't find any info on this particular detail. Can you recommend an article which goes in depth into this?
@@weeaboojones9957look into barefoot running

That’s the original court filing, can’t find the official ruling easily rn bc it’s from 2014 but every online source I’ve looked at (from bbc to AP) says they settled for almost $4 million while not actually legally admitting fault. This is bc as the original commenter suggested they require u to adjust to them overtime and will damage ur feet if not but did not disclose this fact anywhere despite likely knowing better. At the time they were selling for abt $100 and the class action suit led to all who purchased being eligible for a $20-50 refund which is basically the court admitting that both sides have some valid points. Hope this helps!
That’s a lie lol, Vibram was specifically sued for making claims about health benefits that are not supported by any evidence. Specifically in terms of preventing foot injuries and building small muscles in the feet.
I only watched the first 3 min but I'm dying this is hilarious. I'll come back and finish this later lmao
Grate video my dude!
Amazing vid and pretty funny more pls❤
banger vid. missed the SCRY shoes though!
Honestly, I liked quite a few of these
This is the best iceberg topic 😂😊
Erm.... here before it blows up!!
Those Balenciaga chevalier (knight in French) shoes go HARDDDD
I like how at some point, for everyone, this video becomes TOO niche
That was freaking awesome; had no idea what top expect yet it shot the moon.
Osiris is fye
The momo vid finally dropped 🔥
honestly also getting into ugly shoes cause i wanna avoid bunions lmao, and i want comfort plus quality construction. I actually really love the martine rose nike shox specifically because they’re a mule since i have narrow heels and most shoes that arent closed like sneakers/boots just slip off my feet or give me insane blisters on the back of my heels
Great list
The final shoes are hilarious. Reminds me of when BigJigglyPanda did a Wish haul and got these sandals that looked like the Necronomicon.
Wrong trouser, you've done it. Another great video
I recently thrifted some mint condition Nike rifts but the Mary Jane style so no tabby toe and I can’t wait to wear them this summer
Nice another meme fashion channel, even though I don't care about fashion. Subscribed.
Nah the mikoshi are hardddd. Thx bro
Great vid, should included yeezy foam runners tho
wait 24:52 is actually genius thanks for bringing that to my attention
all these shoes actually go hard
I cried when crocs was the first shoe 😭 how is it not the ugliest, what am I getting into 😭
thanks for the videos, love your channel.
i expected balenciaga tyrex and prada america's cup in this list. quite ugly, but also lovely
Fila Disruptors are actually well nice, shame that they got memed to death.
I missed that entirely but maybe it is more in England
The Birkenstock Montana is a favorite ugly shoe of mine, never seen someone in person or online wearing them but I think you could do something cool with the style.
thank you for the lecture
Yohji really living up to his take on modernization with those ballet flats.
I lovee the vintage miu miu shoes
The comfiest shoes I've ever owned, Crocs and Vibram Five Fingers. Hell, I still order those toe shoes online every year or so.
yup, seeing like HALF of the shoes on this list my only thought was "theyre not fashion shoes though... theyre function shoes". vibrams are awesome. theyre not weird quirky fashion shoes theyre function shoes and they're incredibly healthy for your feet compared to pretty much any other shoe you can buy
Omg i have a whole collection of 90s and 00s Acupuncture shoes! I also collect that period of Shelley's London shoes
chill on the roshes
uf thanks for your reserch!
this is a list of all my favorite shoes
I can tell the Puma Makoshi's weird ass sole design is basically an exaggeration of typical jika tabi sole design and that's why it looks so weird. The horizontal soft rubber tread on jika tabi allows the shoe to flex up and down substantially with the sole creasing in the troughs in the tread; and the Makoshis tread design is basically this same idea, but with the tread enlarged as much as possible
The extra chunkies have baby sneaker proportions which is honestly adorable 😂
I wasn't aware of how aware I was of this rabbit hole
*bruh just roasted the shit out of me, I'm feeling sad for my Crocs, Birkenstock, Huaraches* 😢😂
Damn bro came from me, sat here in my Arizonas and got some Glerups upstairs for when it’s cold
Forgot the CDG SS15 mexican boots and the split shoes they make as well. The Hood By Air backwards/forwards boots also come to mind.
The Mexican boots are just tribalero boots and have been a niche style when tribal (a music genre that combined cumbia and electro dance) was popular in 2008-2012ish
I have UGG brand sneakers and they’re no joke so comfortable I wear them all the time.
Those "Duck Oxfords" are actually derbys haha
Dad shoes are one of the weirdest trends. It makes no sense. They’re so ugly and yet so incredibly popular.
i lowkey fw the Hoka sandle thing, would look sick paired with these baggy pants i saw on insta made from a bunch of ripped apart sport backpacks. Like a DIY sportswear mod podge of synthetic materials. I typically always avoid synthetic stuff myself. I go for heavy materials like canvas, denim, heavy cotton,, but those shoes make me wanna try and make the silly insane color scheming of sportswear work somehow. idk..
my boy wrong trousers
I actually own a pair of the gold mihara yasuhiro pumas at 31:19 they are super fucking cool, it seems like noone has ever heard of them. I was surprised to see them in a youtube video
he got the Louis shoes dirty got dam!
1:05 Edward Skeletrix reference🩻🏝️
W video bro
Bro just got me sauce!
There really is an iceberg chart for anything isnt there
As much as I enjoyed this video, I was thoroughly confused by the assertion that Uggs have come back into fashion. Maybe it's a regional thing but Uggs are all but a completely forgotten thing of the past where I live.
youmissed some marithé françois girbaud footwear there
I'm supposed to be working. Why did you make this so interesting?
my soul hurt seeiing my precocious gel nexpas being dissed.....but then again, i did get them for 30 bucks clearance at a Sears Closeout Sale.
Oh yuuuuuppp
every ~5th shoe is kind of a slay like I wouldn’t dare wear it, but I do like looking at it.
Last one is not so ugly like others, looks more natural for human.
pullin up to the furmeet in my Thug Club Dragon Boots saying "this shit costs more than your autumn fallings suit"
I've had the same pair of Arizonas for 8 years. They still work and i wear them around the house, there might be something to them.
I’m surprised the timb tabi wasn’t on here (sadly I kinda like them)
I'm using this as education from now on, never had the time to do this in my head but I now got it pinned ❤😊
