Apologies for the audio balance! It'll be good in other videos, but I was ill while recording this and ended up making that mistake.
Just to clarify the rules changes that are already being worked on based on this:
- Hunters have one less mask
- Hunters don't start with Mantis Claw, but get it when I do
- Hunters don't get Monarch Wings
- The death time penalty doesn't apply in the Black Egg Temple
- Timer might be lowered and have a 5 minute death penalty instead.
- I'll be working on a mod to apply invincibility when on elevators, interacting with NPCs/tolls/etc, entering/exiting rooms, and when you are stunned by screams (think THK's screams)
I felt that with this rule set it encouraged them to kill you and you to manage your time better and not just die repeatedly. Maybe to encourage that(and since you’re gonna lose 10 minutes on a shade skip if you try it) either limit the time loss to only hunter kills or have say maybe a 1-5 minute time increase when you kill them. This encourages the hunters to also strategise and not just sit outside the boss room swinging wildly and encourage the duels which IMO is one of the more entertaining portions of this series

@@banyamano902 We'll definitely see more of that (duels, chases) in future vids. These hunters are actually quite good at PvP combat, but don't have as much speedrun (route) knowledge, which is why the majority of the fighting was them stacking up at objectives/bosses. Shade skips also don't count toward the timer currently!

@@banyamano902 Future games, I'll probably switch up my strategies (and nerfing hunter stats) a bit so stacking up around objectives/bosses isn't as effective. They'll probably have to hunt a little bit more, anticipate my next moves, etc.
The hornet fight where everyone is watching and just nodding quickly as they cheer for their sibling was not only adorable but hilarious

I feel the need to comment on the fact that you went for Great Slash with less than 8 minutes left on the clock, you had no fear this SvH and I was here for it
If he dies in the fight he loses and he can beat the fight in less than 5 mins, so taking the extra time to get great slash is a really good play. All benefits, no downsides

You know what I think would be fun? One of these with a cursed item randomizer, every time you pick something up, each hunter also gets something random, not even the same between hunters. It would be funny to see them try to coordinate who would chase you where based on what upgrades they each have

I feel like one adjustment should be that the 10 minutes off doesn’t matter if it’s under 10 minutes left. That way for the last 10 minutes you just have to actually keep him off and not just kill him once. Either way amazing!

Yeah that's a great idea, I was also thinking that the 10 minutes off shouldn't effect him during the hollow knight battle or maybe it get's reduced to only 1 minute off or something. Just from the looks of it, it's probably impossible to avoid getting killed during the hollow knight battle and everything else seemed fairly well balanced otherwise.
Regardless I really like the new rules, and they punish him for being caught out, and give the hunters more opportunities to catch him out. While preventing him from being farmed at major choke points.
Yeah, definitely think either the last 10 mins should be immune or Hollow Knights room should reduce the time removed, as with everyone in there, it's hard to imagine not die at least a few times.

I think Fire shouldn't be penalised 10 minutes for dying in THK fight since hunters are there. Other than that, rules do seem pretty fair.

The new ruleset was a very much needed change! Though my favorite parts of these runs will always be hearing what shenanigans the hunters get up to!
A rule you can add is everytime a hunter dies it adds 30 secs or 1 minutes to the timer so that it adds more action to the hunt and gives you a reason to fight back and not just run away from them

An alternative to remove time loss from dying in the hollow knight fight
Everything about this ruleset feels great to me, I would just maybe lower the time loss from 10 minutes to 5 or 7.5 minutes. It just feels like at the beginning the hunters can box you in due to your limited movement abilities and just eat away at your time at the cost of their lives which means nothing to them.
Next time I'm dropping their health and removing Claw until I get it so the early game should be more even! Thanks for the feedback!

When you grabbed Great Slash at 8 minutes left, I actually said out loud "No, he wouldn't."
Apparently, I was correct, you would not go for Nailmaster's Glory with that little time left.
Absolutely love hearing the hunters going on about how "he HAS to be going this way!" while Fire's pretty much on the other end of the kingdom
I really liked the new ruleset, I think it definitely improved on some of the problems that showed up in the previous videos! The one I appreciated the most was that people could not attack you during boss arenas. I feel like in the previous videos you got stuck in these arenas for a bit too long, making it not pleasing to watch at certain times. I think the change to this rule was definitely an improvement, it was the reason the final stretch of the video was so epic after all! If they got you stuck at Uumuu, as happened in previous videos, the ending wouldn't have been much fun to watch. I do like that they can enter the THK arena, I think it adds a lot of tension to the ending, but I feel like 4 hunters in that arena might be too much. 3 hunters, as we've seen in other videos can be doable but a maybe a bit too challenging, I personally think having a limit of 2 hunters in the arena at a time would be ideal. Sadly we didn't see much of that fight in this video so it's a bit hard to gauge with this ruleset, but I'm sure you'll get to try it out eventually. Really appreciate the effort put into the video, keep it up!

I think that if you were to make it so the timer doesnt go down when fighting thk it would give the end a bit more of a climax as it is by far the easiest part to die at and would result in a much better end .

I think an interesting rule that would help with the camping might be to not outright BAN hunters from entering boss rooms, but only allowing one hunter at a time
One at a time is actually much better (for them) than all at once anyway, so that wouldn't really help much from my perspective.
I agree some of the best bits to watch were trying to beat a boss before other people noticed and getting away with it. But there were some ridiculously hard fights in previous rulesets. Maybe like uumuu, watchers and beast den get nerfed hunters say only the first hunter to join is ever allowed in the boss room and has a respawn timer?

remember when less than a year ago the entire hollow knight community was disconnected and now look at this
before, fireb0rn was at 13k and at one point didn't even have a profile, skurry was some small youtuber doing their thing, relyea basically hadn't heard of fireb0rn when he reacted to his speedrun, and mossbag was on his lonesome as well
and now everyone is doing cross youtube collabs regularly and all having fun together

There’s less text talking about Fires plans, which to me makes it a bit less engaging, and it doesn’t give me the sense of anticipation, wondering if he can pull off the plan, or wondering what the Hunters will do to adapt. Instead it feels like I’m watching a speed run with commentary, while people try and stop him. I get that was the concept, but it just was a less engaging experience for me. Still like the new rules

I completely agree. When fire explains his thought process the video is much more fun to watch. I also think that fire should be allowed to hear the hunters because it makes the strategizing much more interesting.
To me, it´s starting to feel a bit too much "tryhard speedrun", rather than "fun challenge with friends".
It´s still fun, and I understand that the series needs to evolve, buuuut...
Definitely think that communication (and taunting) should be allowed. (Maybe have a separate channel for hunters if they really want to do something in secret...)
(Again, he´s run through the game so many times, I understand that he wants to change things around so it doesn´t get stale/boring.)
Great ruleset. I takes care of the thing that I found less appealing in the first one. The hunters being able to just wait at a boss rooms and take you out during a hard fight (although they can still wait in front of the room but now it's possible to just duke them). Or just warping by exiting. Now it feels like a real hunt. Good job.

I Really enjoyed this video and I think the new rule set is absolutely amazing, it's just personally for me I feel like the Hunters definitely may need a little nerf to make it completely even, as for the Hollow Knight boss fight, The hunters felt immensely broken as the room is so tiny and there's 4 of them, so it's very easy for all of them to mindlessly throw themselves at you, which makes it feel really unfair especially with that giant time loss, oh and a suggestion, I feel like it'd be really interesting if you got some time back every time you killed one of them, as it's already a difficult task and it would make battle actually worth while rather than pointless, it could sprout more possibilities and some really cool clutch moments, it'd also give the Hunters an actual reason to want to stay alive, it lets them treasure their own life which I feel like is a needed change, because as it stands they lose little to nothing from death especially with all 4 of them as when one dies it isn't a big deal as another one can just cover for them, So it'd be cool to actually have them think about picking and choosing their battles and making an interesting strategy to take you down, regardless I loved the video, keep up the great work!

So, so happy to see this back! My adult brain totally understood when you would say that SvH is stressful and must be done in moderation. But my child brain was whining for more, more, more! I (like many others here) got into your channel because of SvH. And the series was the encouragement I needed to finally play Hollow Knight. (Which I obviously now adore.) So it's special to me! Thanks for bringing it back.
Yo Cranky is a menace. He just kept wanting to swing at you at any given moment. Elevator? No mercy. Stag station? No mercy.
absolutely love the new ruleset, it's very clear and much easier to understand. to be very slightly critical though, I think it could be beneficial to mention that projectiles (like the big jellyfish in fog canyon) don't affect other players? it confused me for a good portion of the older manhunts to see the hunters seemingly walking through explosions and the like.
I believe in atleast one of the older hunts they COULD be affected, just not too often, as enemies were enabled for them, now they're not.
elevator shenanigans still exist though.
In both scenarios it's just a matter of one hunter or fireb0rns nail hitting either the jelly or the elevator
This version of the rules much better, but hunters need to go over the rules before rematch cause so many "can i do that?" And "stop doing that, its illegal"

Fantastic competition! I love watching these, they are so exciting. I love the new rules, but I don’t think you should lose time in the HK fight
So excited to see a new hunt! The new ruleset looks great, good balance between hide-and-seek and action, making bosses fair for you while also giving the hunters a bigger reward for taking you out. The one thing I missed from the other videos was your commentary on your own thoughts throughout the match; what you expected the hunters to do, what your strategy was, etc. I hope hammering out the new ruleset means we'll start getting more hunt videos going forward!

I know you probably won’t see this, but something I’d like to see is a speed running challenge where you try to beat the game faster than 4 people working together to beat the game. I’ve seen it done with Super Mario 64 where 20 people could get stars and still somehow lost to a single speed runner. It was a great demonstration to how much talent speed running can take and I definitely think you’re capable of that!

Absolutely love the speedrun vs hunter series.
This is awesome. Incredible to see the level of precision on Fireborn’s side. You make it look so easy, but it is incredibly difficult. Whoever though of this, organized, and created a mod for this to happen is above us mere mortals. I hope they add a mod - I would definitely play with a friend.
_* IDEA FOR ANOTHER VIDEO?_* The only suggestion I would have to offer is that the hunters should have to earn their own abilities, be able to upgrade their nail, and get their own charms. Another idea would be a race to complete the game first while having to deal with other players and death adding to time. Maybe add to the challenge with having to collect certain things or have a certain amount of geo/ a certain boss, or other abilities, items, ect…
