    If you are charging from 0 to 100, there is no point using the 30w, but for a quick 15-20 min charge up it might be worth it.

      By default there is a setting turned on for iPhones called optimize battery charging which limits the charge speed after 80 percent battery life based on your habits and only charges past that amount at normal speed when the iPhone thinks you'll actually need it. I believe if this setting was turned off the results would be different in that the 30w charger would beat the 20w by a larger margin. Maybe someone can test this out?

      That's normal behavior, if that option was being used by the phone at this moment, the load would probably be lower
      As it would try to keep at 80%, and 10W does way more than that ^^

    If you're on low battery but you need to go out as soon as possible, 30 watt charger is the best because it takes like 40 minutes to charge at least more than 50% compared to 20 watt which is slightly slower.
    I have did charge my iPad Mini and it takes like 5 minutes from 20% to 25% with 18 watt charger compared to 10.5 watt charger which takes up to 23% in 5 minutes.
    For best performance, just try left your iPhone or iPad left charging without turn on the screen for 30 minutes because it might affect charging time in my opinion.

    I had a 30w laying around cause I got it for cheap a while back and although if you’re charging to 100 it makes nearly no difference, if charging to just 40-80% it’s consistently about 5-10% faster throughout the entire charging cycle. Not worth it but if you can pick one up for cheap it’s definitely a nice boost that you will appreciate those times when you gotta leave the house and only have a few minutes to juice up.

    What about the power you use, is it more power used for the same amount of charge, i mean as we know the battery in itself it has 100% capacity in total and one is 20w the other 30w, so at the end or through the whole process when it's fully charged - does it mean 30w use more power and will cost you more even when you get the same 100% charged battery? or is it same cost just in shorter time with the 30w? Now im talking about the electricity bill, think of it that way - your only bill for the whole month is your iphone charge, one month i charge it only with the 20w the other month with the 30w, you will get the same bill?

      @LotsOfPaypa 2 года назад +1

      I disagree with your comment. There are things happening behind the scenes. The higher voltage helps keep heat low enough to be able to charge the phone faster at different times throughout the charge cycle. I believe the 30 watt is able to charge something like 15v*2a=30w and the 20w actually does 9v*2a=18w. Charging with the 30w spikes in charge for a bit and drops back down as it heats up like a wave. This is why it looks like it “yo-yo” at different times during the test. The 20w charger wave doesn’t have such high peaks and is much more consistent throughout the charge cycle… I once went down a rabbit hole…

    • @TCPUDPATM
      @TCPUDPATM 2 года назад

      @@LotsOfPaypa Actually, the iPhone 13 pro (max in my case) doesn’t use any voltage other than 5V and 9V. The maximum I (and all other videos) show is it taking in is 27W.
      Your comment is spot on though. At high wattage, the phone pulls power aggressively to reduce heat, which slows down charging.
      My comment is actually a bit confusing and I think I was talking about the behavior at 80%. Exactly at 80%, regardless of the chargers used, the phone switches to 5V from 9V and slow charges. So I’d expect this phase of charging to be exactly the same on both chargers, and I suspect it isn’t.

    My son bought a vapor thing and it broke, but it came with a big heavy mini USB-C charging block and I was wondering if I can use it to charge my mini 13 iphone. These are the specs on the charging block
    Input
    120-240V - 50/60Hz 1.6A max

    Output
    5.0V -... 3.0A 15.0W
    or 9.0V -... 3.0A 27.0W
    or 12.0V -... 3.0A 36.0W
    or 15.0V -... 3.0A 45.0W
    or 20.0V -... 3.25A 65.0W
    Max power output 65.0W
    Will it fry my phone if I use it to charge it? My new iphone 13 mini didn't come with a charging block and this is the only one I have right now. As much as we pay for these phones you'd think the charging block would be included

    The reason it slowed after 80% is because you have the feature turned on in settings for it to optimize charging past 80%! Depending on your previous charging habits with each phone, the software will throttle your charging speed accordingly. So this may not be the most accurate test result.
