Well done mate. Lovely finish. You ask about weathering rules? There are NO rules mate. I love my weathering - just do what feels right and persist with the hairspray. Two light coats only. Then let dry and spray top coat. Go easy gets the finer chips - just takes a little patience.
I've never built a tank in my life Alex, I don't see anything there to apologise for. In fact the closer your camera got in the final reveal the more I was blown away. That "throw a quick coat of paint over the chipping before the General sees it" (my term) actually looks inspired. Great result again, and another Alex Modeling episode I shall no doubt watch many more times since I now have to build one.
Very good kit for its age and price. We all know OOTB it's an easy fun nostalgia build, and should be treated as such. Standoff it looks like a T-34/76 '42 or 43' (both versions in the kit), and the level of detail is commensurate for it's tooling and market release nearly 50 years ago. It is what it is. Sows ear into a silk purse and all that. Want more detail? Buy a more expensive contemporary tooled kit with it.
Just a 1/2C thought. The 76.2mm F-34 gun used on the T-34 and the ZiS-5 gun used on the KV-1 are almost the same gun. The main difference is the ZiS-5 gun mounts move the gun farther forward to allow more room in the turret. So even if you order a T-34 76.2mm F-34 gun barrel and you get a 76.2mm ZiS-5 gun barrel they should be the same.
Hello from Estonia! I all-ready some time watch you stuff. Found you couple year a go, looking Portugal modelers and stuff. Because I am my self modeler and also year 2019 I worked in Portugal, Leiria and Marinha Grande in the forest (we helped to realize 2017 burned Mata Nacionale- that's what happened was very sad!, I hope now new trees growing nicely) . Learned to know about friendly Portugal people and very beautiful nature and cities, and good food and music too. Anyway, now i am little fan of Portugal and its good to see model stuff too. This T-34 is very nice, you work of weathering is very good-keep on going! This tank I have real time touched my own hand, we have couple of these our museums. As well I made couple models of this, one 1/35 and second 1/72 scale, last one is my favorite scale. I have couple videos my first years modeling too here YT, this is right now work in progress to make and learn masters like you and Night shift and etc...;) Now I wish you continuing joy and mojo for modelling and keep safe and healthy! Boa Noite da Estônia! (Head ööd Eestist!)
Great build - I’ve just bought the same Tamiya kit - so this has given me inspiration! Don’t beat yourself up about the tracks - enjoying yourself is the most important !
Excellent build. I also did this kit as a Kursk participant but I did the Uralmash stamped turret just cause thats my favorite version. Like what you did with the green oil paint. I tried to use it more like a filter but didnt like the look, you used yours more selectively in smaller areas.
Great build!😍 If you ask me this hobby is all about having fun and the only person you have to please is yourself👍. Good to see you back to modeling, like your calm and joyful way of showing your work! Hope that you are ok and safe!😊👍
Sure looks like you were having a great time during the build. I am glad to see you back at it again my brother, I"ve been missing your builds. I'm very happy 😁😁😁😁 to see you building model kits again, remember build models for fun, in your own words always build with a smile be safe and God be with you.
Super seeing you back, Alex....it's always a good thing to take a break, re-charge and come back stronger and excited to start again. Really enjoyed watching this build....a little respite from the the Victory....and a stellar job yet again.
Great work, awesome result. We all have our own way of doing things....do whatever works for you. Even mistakes are a learning experience. Fun, fun, fun...nothing else matters ☺️👍
Hey Alex, I always like and appreciate your builds and videos. Excellent weathering and chipping effects. It was a brilliant move on painting white on the decals to ive it a hand brushed look, never seen that or even thought about it. I think the rubber tracks aren't that bad with a little work. Rules for weathering tanks, have fun and do it however you like, there are no real rules in modeling other than to enjoy your self and have fun, its all about that smile. I am glad you got a break from work to relax and enjoy yourself. Again excellent build and video. Have a great weekend and stay safe and healthy brother. See you on the next episode. 👍👍🇵🇹🤝🇺🇸
Welcome back, it's been a while...When you said you don't know the rules for weathering? There aren't any it's your model to build and paint how ever you like, this is supposed to be a fun hobby, and yes there are rivet counters but they don't count, just enjoy yourself and don't worry about the serious ones...
Excellent work, a supreme finish, you got a lot out of an old model, my only suggestion is that maybe you can add a little dust on the horizontal surfaces, since as we know the tanks always walk in the middle of a cloud of dust. Finally, a little gunpowder smoke can also be added to the muzzle to simulate intense use of the weapon. I send you a big greeting from México.
Diesel mech on armoured vehicles for my coutry here diesel is not brown but it does stick to paint and gets couted in dust which turns it into black spots people underestemate how dirty tanker and technical service members hands are so youll see dark marks around handles and some paint off ,boots arent harder then steel but they do take off paint after a while ,we do not care how bolt heads look or if they get damaged if the they turn its fine and you will become instantly coated in soot just by looking at a talk engine or exhaust.
A parte do fundo azul é boa ideia.
Cumprimentos
Awesome work minha amiga! Love the heavy weathering on this Soviet beast, it fits perfectly. Good to see you enjoy all sorts of kits equally and you are certainly very talented in all those scale modelling genres :)
Good demonstration of techniques but weathering WAY too heavily done. It looks like a tank that's been sitting in a field for 70 years. I think armour modellers in general apply too much weathering for simple lack of colour photos from WW2.
First rule of model building: HAVE FUN! Don't worry about what Everyone else thanks. C'mon You know that rule ! I think it looks great.
You are absolutly right!
2nd rule...if it hots the floor, it is gone forever. I was right as a kid, THE FLOOR IS LAVA!!!
Thanks?
Im just starting this t34 tomorrow. What a great help this was! You should be proud of that build!
Well done mate. Lovely finish. You ask about weathering rules? There are NO rules mate. I love my weathering - just do what feels right and persist with the hairspray. Two light coats only. Then let dry and spray top coat. Go easy gets the finer chips - just takes a little patience.

amazing idea with three level colours scrapping, almost like in real :)
Excellent. Looks just like it would after being left outdoors for 20 years.
Love it, it deserves a diorama

Well, I see a problem right from the start, you're drinking coffee. You know you do your best work when you're sipping on the Scotch!!!😅😅😅
Totally agree!!!😊👍👍

Nice to see you back I've always loved your builds.
Looks great! That chipping effect turned out very nicely... depth of colour and surface texture is superb.
0:56AM, alarm set for 5:00AM. nevermind let's watch another video of Alex having fun.
😂😂💪💪
So now u need to build KV tank now!
From what we see- it really went thru hell...well done.👍🏻👍🏻

I have only done three models and they all turned garbage will this model be easy to do for someone that has barely done any
As long as you are having fun nothing turns to garbage! I hope you have fun on yours. This kit is relatively easy to build
First to click! I love the T-34. This will be awesome.
