simple putting/replacing 3-4 inch screws in ones door latch helps. I have set up some my interior doors up too open outwards so they cannot be "kicked in"

I got a fixer upper on a corner lot in a town of 1400 people for 24,000. I'm still fixin' 'er up! Best move I ever made.

A thousand is also what I pay here in Swansboro NC, although I am currently abroad. Visiting Poland this week! I have done the math for me it just isn’t worth it to move. My risk here is Camp Lejeune as it may be a target.

I left Dallas when mine hit $4500/yr - 130k house, 0.9 acre. I'm much better off now. Newer house, more land and freedom, and half the property tax. It was a major pay cut but all things considered it worked out.

If you are "stuck" in a densely populated urban concrete jungle and you can't completely relocate, I hope you have a plan to flee and are constantly paying attention to events which may indicate it is time to get out. If you choose to stay regardless, then I hope you are big and strong because you may find yourself at the mercy of someone else who is.

I laugh at macro violence. What is coming is going to be horrible.
All the anti pew pew people are in for a very very rude awakening

How many years ago was it I told you that immigrants would, in a more descriptive fashion, mess things up?
    Do you remember your response?

      @RealitySurvival oh, heck no!
It was when container ships started backing up at the ports post Rona.
My conjecture was the aliens would meet containers that were strategically placed, supply themselves, and, uh, wreak havoc.

There many rural areas with homes that either have do be cleaned out or worked on for little or nothing - across the road from me a trailer with two added on rooms a deep artisan well and septic tank on 5 Acers sold for $11000 -
Any thing in this state is homestead exempt up to $75000 - this area is un incorporated so there no city taxes -
As for brake inns there are none - all of us know each other - as for city people moving out here in rural areas -
At first its heaven to them - but after a while they go through the anxioty they felt in the city -
There other problem of having to be hands on when things brake - also it helps to have two viehicals country people often commute for hours each day to go to work - were i live the majority worked the offshore oilfields or were in the millitary for 20 yrs -
For city people rural life can be a serious test - there is not much to do in rural areas so you have to master being alone -
I burn wood for heat - that an art in its self, also power ottages can last a long time - there is 7 miles of powerline wire per customer -
At times it can take a while till the power cones back on when its knocked out -
A good wind storm can knock down 100 power poles - that happened last month -
That reality for us in the rural areas -

"Trend Line" seems a little over-elevated, also the first peak started in 2014 and didn't settle again until 2018-19, five years. Second spike was 2019-22, only 3 years, so maybe the next will be a short violent shock if trends mean anything. Being the optimist, here. Or it could spike to the moon, Alice. A more liberal mindset might say that's Trump's fault, deflection.

The line is just graphic to show the direction. Many people think that we are at a 40 year low on violent crime. That was true in 2014. But it is not true now. It has been increasing across the board. That’s the point of the graphic and that is accurate.
