similar to the sorcerers whos heads have turned to glintstone, i think the crystalians probably cannot speak to us because they are currently functioning on a higher plane, seeing through fate and distracted gazing into the cosmos and stuff, only dimly aware of what is going on in the physical world around them.
Rennala is the last of the astrologers. Which I think is cool because it is said in game that glinstone sorcery can extend you life. So, Rennala must be still very powerful to look like she’s in her early thirties or late 20s.

It's all interpretation based on the vague pieces of information and contextual storytelling the game gives us. Do I think some of my theories are correct? Sure, but I'm not going to pretend these are "facts" that can't be disproven or reinterpreted based on new info and theories.
your videos are awesome, still enlightening me about this godzilla of a game. i think the knowledge about primal glintstones was something that the crystallians taught the sorcerers.
From the Fighting Fantasy Fandom site. A crystal warrior was hewn from pure crystal, mostly in the shape of a human warrior with a helmet. Because of their construction, their silhouettes were very stylized. Crystal warriors are usually left in a certain key area, where they could hold any intruders. They could be instructed to memorise up to two faces or recognise a certain symbol, which allowed passage. Others unable to identify themselves were eventually attacked. Crystal warriors were usually created by powerful sorcerers or warlocks as guardians for their lairs. They were animated via a lengthy and complex ritual; that and their laborius construction usually meant that any one magician had only one or two at their beck and call. More powerful beings, however, were known to have even larger numbers of them at their disposal. If you take them from this source as an inspiration they where most likely created by sorcerers of Liurnia and Sellia to guard certain items and places.
I honestly belived they were like astel and the onyx and alabaster lords in a sence from somware else like they live inside stars or meteors and when they fall to the lands between they were released and were like "whats this place why are we here" the glinstone, sorcerers and astrolagers would have been the closest they would get to things and people capable of understanding them so became friends mutual benefit i assumed there god was the primevel current but maybe like plasigisax they feel they have been abandond maybe cuz they know longer can float in space they are disconnecte
I always thought the crystalline enemies were made from the crystals in those mine caves but wow insane that they were created from magic and that they are looking for a master to serve
With these Crystalians being resistant to almost everything; in addition to the rot variant, it would've been nice if we got some others that survived in harsh terrains like a poison one or a frostbitten one
I theorize the Crystalians were created by the same ancient civilization that fell from the sky. The same ones that created the Golems. It could've been that civilization was a civilization of Astrologers, hence their connection to Raya Lucaria or even Sellia town could be their descendants. Just a thought I know it's some holes in that theory
The Crystalians are absolute mysteries. I've been able to find out more about the Uhl and the Uld than I have the Crystalians. I genuinely don't know what to make of them. I haven't been able to come to any solid conclusions about what they are, who made them (if anyone even did), or where they came from. What is apparent is that although they are incredibly sophisticated, they are barely sentient. They're exactly what it says on the tin, they're just golems. But that just wraps back around to their mystery. For the first time since I've started looking into and studying Elden Ring's lore, I'm genuinely at a loss. I'm actually stumped. Maybe that's the point of the Crystalians, whatever it implies is beyond me. I wrote this ☝ before I watched the video. You've definitely provided some critical insights into their origins. I never imagined that they could have their roots tied to the same medium Sellen uses to house her soul and transfer it from vessel to vessel. It might be that they are living primal glintstones. I think this ties into what I believe happened to the Uhl. I believe the Claymen were priests who were more "normal" at one point. After precepting the inevitable utter destruction of their civilization at the hand of the Astel and (maybe the Golden Order as well) through their Oracle Bubbles, the Uhl and the Uld turned desperate and started preparing for their apocalypse. Some turned to primitive methods and became what we know as the Ancestral Followers, some turned themselves to clay in order to preserve themselves and their dynasty, and others turned to wandering and became what we know as the Astrologers. What you said about some of the Astrologers turning themselves into what could be living bodies of primal glintstone sounds reasonable to me. It stands to reason, at least, from a preservation perspective similar to how some of the Uhl turned themselves to clay. But where are all the Astrologers now? Are they all golems? Did they join their descendants at the Academy of Raya Lucaria? The only remains of them I've found are their clothes sold by the hermit merchant in Liurnia and the Sorcerers' Rise in the Mountaintops, where you can learn the Founding Rain of Stars spell.
Hi, about Sellen's soul and your conclusions based on it, I recommend first looking at Primal Glintstone Blade which says: The old sorcerers would slice open their hearts with these blades to imbue a primal glintstone with their soul, and thus did they die. Both these glintstones are imbued with sorcerers' blood, which in practice seems to make a more durable copy (or rather cut) of one's soul and heart. I don't think crystalians as they exist now have a hint of such a bloody ritual of sacrificing one's heart. They seem to be animistic in nature; made out of such cosmic stones by hands, instead of the selfish deed of manipulating them for one's benefit of transcending one's soul into immortality.
Glintstone is celestial life force. To me it makes perfect sense that a living being could be created from them. Despite not necessarily being organic. And that it bc that life force is a soul or spirit, which has consistent connections to Int. The Ancestral Spirits use a bow that scales with Int, and in general there are lot of spirit related items that relate back to Int.
Also I would like to point out that their appearance seems to largely be taken from the silent era film The Golem. Not really important to the lore, I just think it's neat.
Wow, that is a very well put together theory, I never thought to put the pieces together like this; It's kind of hidden in plain sight when I think about it Referring to your thoughts on the Giants crafting the Crytallians, If you've watched Tarnished Archeologists recent video on The Divine Towers, he supposes that their may have been a great civilization of Ancient Giants, who were the first to craft and forge and the various Golems we find throughout the lands are likely their work as well; they have also endured for who knows how long. If we were to accept TA's theory, I'd say this theory on the Crystalians fits quite well with it.
But then what's the link between the giants and Farum Azula? Why do we teleport to it when we burn the erdtree? Were those golems made to defend against the malformed stars? If there was a giant civilization what were their relationship with Farum Azula?

Some of the best ashes aswell. The things basically can tank some bosses. Honestly it fascinates that they have the scarlet rot. Suggesting either they are fleshy somewhere. Or that the rot isn't just for the flesh. And is something maybe for all lifeforms to experience and/or the rot can effect everything.
the rot is like a super virus created by its outer god, throughout gameplay almost everything can be infected by rot to varying degrees and makes me think of how viruses adapt to transmit from host to host and even cross species at times. I always thought of scarlet rot as not actually infecting the flesh but rather the spirit/soul/primal glintstone of a being with the deformation of the hosts flesh/body as really just a symptom or byproduct of the infection. Kind of like how many bubonic plague victims developed boils and visual markings from their infection but they were still infected for a period before these symptoms started to become visible to the naked eye. The virus infects them and then after it has started to adapt and mature in the hosts body then begins to spread out in force and starts showing signs of the infection.
@@frankydota6478 now that is a spicy headcanon but I'm all about it. Given Selens primal soul thing being noted to have blood vessels and such this supports the idea. I think they may have been Primeval Sorcerers that were assimilated completely by glintstone the way Azur and Lusat were. Their crowns claim that glintstone was replacing even their brains. However, these sorcerers must have found a way to remain functional and ambulatory in the process, or perhaps it was taught to them by their mysterious creator figure. Maybe they search for this person not just to bolster their own numbers, but because it is necessary to the sorcerers’ goal of studying the Primeval Current. The way these beings float aetherially in an almost Buddha-like pose makes me think they were once men who achieved some kind of enlightenment.
They were most likely golems that were designed by a sorcerer but overtime they became sentient and drifted away from what they were originally were made for, it’s likely that they stay at locations with large amount of glintstones is do to the magical energy that radiates from them while the one’s that are infected by the rot stay at areas that have a strong connection to the rot.🤔🐱

I had a hunch the crystallians might be artificially created, though not to that level. I can take that theory. Also, annoying to kill, perhaps, but they look like great dancers and circus acts.
they are definitely another form of artificial life but NOT man made as the descriptions go out of their way to point out that crafting the crystalians or their weapons is impossible for humans. They do remind me of albinaurics in the same way that claymen do. They are all artificial lifeforms made by a people that sought to learn more than their own minds/bodies were capable of learning or understanding. Perhaps these are a more primordial attempt at their creator making a being in their own image? or maybe these were originally made to fight off a type of foe or sickness (such as scarlet rot) but ultimately either failed being capable of doing what they were intended for or if they were to ward off something immaterial like the scarlet rot perhaps after some were infected and turned to putrid crystalians they were left in search of something that actually could do what was needed. Heck a glintstone body may even have been an attempt of miquella or the civilization drowned in the lake of rot at trying to escape its infection?
any idea how some are putrid? Seems strange that the scarlet rot can effect inorganic beings. Could they be connected to ranni somehow with her doll body (was her body made by their master? could it be her armour smith who crafted both her body and them?) If they are souls inside crystals how do spirit caller snails summon them? Surely the spirit would be on their original body not the statue they entered as spirit ashes are generally the original body of who died. They seem closer to puppets than spirits imo.
I responded to a comment above with a full idea of how these inorganic beings are infected but basically think of scarlet rot as really being an infection of the spirit or "soul" of a being and not a living infection that needs a living host to grow just a spiritual infection that needs any living host to grow regardless of what it is made of as long as it has free thought and a spirit it could be infected. As for how they are summoned by the snails: i disagree with the video idea of these being sorcerers placed into these bodies on that same premise as you pointed out. I believe these are another artificial lifeform just like the different generations of albinaurics. These bodies were crafted to a humanoid shape but were inhabited by fake souls or crafted souls and that these souls were placed in the constructs to allow them free thought and actions.
Crystal bodies helping ones understanding in the Primeval Current isnt new. Azur and Lusat peered into the PC and overtime their flesh would turn into crystal maybe as far as replacing parts of the brain. The crystalians look more refined and handcrafted in comparison, if they were sorcerers then maybe they willingly gave up their bodies so they could understand the PC better. Since their creator disappeared this technique to craft Crystalian bodies was lost and now are the last ones left who have the best understanding of the PC. But i wonder who understands the Current better: Lusat and Azur with their "natural" crystal bodies or the Crystalians with their "crafted" bodies?
I find it odd that there is any differentiation at all between glintstone and crystal. It would seem that they would be one and the same. Perhaps the difference comes down to purity. I don't know. That being said, could you try taking a look at the Spiritcaller Snails? I have no idea what these things are, how they do what they do, or even if these things actually are snails. The wiki certainly seems to think they aren't.
my theory is that they're not very smart. their movements are slow and their bodies even though being made out of crystal, they shouldn't wander on the battlefield without some kind of armor. those factors reveal that they're making rookie mistakes.
They definitely seem to be the work of an ancient sorcerer but the soul transplantation I think is adjacent to the crystalians. The crystalians seem to predate Marika and thus immortality. And Sellens true identity is also a good topic.
Crystalians : “So anyways i started STABBING”

Is this still the legacy of Seath the Scaleless? 🤔
Golden crafter??? First thought was Miquella. Especially with rotten ones being found in the Haligtree. But, I don't know if it's that simple.
👏👏👏👏👏👏👍
Ahoy
Sellens primal glintstone has no relevance to crystalians but i like the video
Sellens specifically no, but the concept that sorcerers can remove their souls by placing them in glintstone could absolutely be relevant
They definitely seem to be the work of an ancient sorcerer but the soul transplantation I think is adjacent to the crystalians. The crystalians seem to predate Marika and thus immortality. And Sellens true identity is also a good topic.
Yeah what the heck is up with these guys anyway?
I know right?
