- Welcome back to another edition of Poker Hands. This time we're breaking down a ridiculous hand from @TheLodgeLive where Brad Owen gets mixed up with the always unpredictable Taras. Playing one of the biggest pots of his life, Brad has a big decision to make. Was it the right one?

"AK is like Anna Kournikova: looks pretty but doesn't win often" is forever engraved in my brain since I've heard it.
But it does win often
AK probably means insta-fold now! Since the United States of freedom won’t even let russians play tennis now. Lol
Yeah, Kournikova is just a two-time grand slam winner and was ranked 8th at her best and 1st when we speak about doubles. Very bad player indeed, lol.
she does not need to win often - she has Iglesias to back her up
Great content Vanessa, always the best poker content on youtube.
He should wear a red & black checkered plaid flannel shirt + men's underwear (for a change) as an homage to her
Thanks, Doug. I've been watching your content for years, and these hand reviews are some of the best free poker content on the web. I owe you a lot of gratitude. My game has grown by leaps and bounds due to your videos.
I think they would be way better if he named this series "Polker Hands".
@@blank5210 Beat me to it! I don't think anyone has ever come up with that joke before. I wanted to be the first ever to say it. 🤣🤣🤣
dumbest post ive ever seen
It's so great to see the best poker content creator on RUclips back. Love the videos, hope you keep up with it just don't burn yourself out.
Great to have you back Doug.
Doug, you shine in this format. I’ll enjoy it while I can get it.
Comic book guy really got lucky
🤣🤣🤣 Worst. Hand. Ever.
I must return to my comic book store, where I dispense the insults rather than absorb them.
Seeing you upload a polker hand makes me really happy, thanks!
I remember well Doug stating he was virtually done with poker: didn't enjoy these hand analyses, didn't play online aside from the HU challenge with DN, didn't enjoy the televised live games etc.
Since then he's opened a poker room and subsequently has been playing in the streamed games quite a bit. Just doing it to grow the business or somehow re-found the enjoyment of the game?
Just being curious, I'm not a customer of USP and not a potential Lodge player either (not a North American).
BRING THESE POLKER HANDS BACK!! Congrats on new family Otis will be check raising soon
stoked to see these uploads
Doug, your poker analysis has gotten even better since your hiatus! I wouldn’t expect anything less from you. Awesome stuff, thank you.
Love that you’re posting again
Damn DP it’s good to hear you breaking shit down just like back in the day.
See- When your a good dude you can always go back home and everyone will welcome you back.
You have always been extremely good at this anyway so there’s that.
Communicating relatively complex betting scenarios in a way anyone can at least make progress in their learning and enjoy the vid even if we do not yet completely understand wtf the math is coming from.
Then later when it all finally clicks it’s like oh yeah this what DP was talking about-
I know what’s going on.
You the man sunshine. 😂😂😂
Missed you Doug! Please could you review some hands where we don't know the villains cards until the end, as it's a great way to experience what the hero was up against. Many thanks!
ditto. those are the best
Great to have you back!
Thanks a lot Fir this content Doyg
Whats up guys
Doug Polk here
And welcome back to another episode of Polker Hands..
Whaaaaaat's uuuuup!?!
We love the Doug ! Thanks bro
Howdy
Welcome back Doug. Nice analysis
Yo Doug glad youre back for a while i noticed the pattern been missin you bro, you kinda glue the poker community for me bro, You should doa pumped up celebrity poker match heads up bro
This whole analysis versus what the commentators were saying is just the best proof how utterly clueless those guys are
Awesome. Been commenting to a couple weeks that this call wasn’t bad at all.
I always like rooting for Brad but man did he look so uncomfortable in this game. Way too high stakes for him.
Shabalaba 🐱
yeah i mean if youre buying in for 100k you either need to be fully staked, or have a 3mil bankroll _minimum_ to be able to play poker and not just gamble. maybe if you have 2mil you can “take a shot” if you think the game is really weak but man he just isn’t ready for stakes like this.
Probably shouldve put a bit more time in with $20k stack games first
I don't think stakes have anything to do with it. Texas poker is just dumb. No one folds. So typical strategies just don't apply.
@@WaltTheCardManiac that’s great
@@WaltTheCardManiacwhat?????
is it Polker hands again? Amazing stuff!
OMG Doug I just had the wildest idea - have you ever conisdered naming your videos Polker Hands?!
Look forward to more polk hands.
The Polker G.O.A.T. is BACK!
Brad looked hella uncomfortable. I dont blame him but haha scary spot
Been dying for polker hands to come back
These are way better without use of a solver. Yeah it wont be as precise but its more digestible for all player types and more enjoyable.
I think if you asked Brad, whether he wan't to be in a 192K pot where somebody called his AK suited five bet with a 10/7 suited, then the answer would be "HELL YEAH". Anyhow, the thing is, if you're going to play at that sort of stakes, the differences between your good days and your bad days are immense.
Odd thinking. A six figure pot with no pair and ace high? No thanks. You are not ahead by any significant margin and you are just gambling.
@@PizzaLord You are talking post-flop. I am saying, if you have AK suited and your opponents keep calling you with crap holdings like 10-7 suited on five bets, you are a happy man because you will make a tonne of money.
He's trying to be a hero..his ego is in the way.
@@conanthecribber It sounded like the opponent played this uncharacteristically... but still do get your point.
@@PizzaLord pre-flop AKs vs 10-7s wins 63% of the time. I will take that all day, every day. just need the bankroll to ride out the variance.
My God, did Brad really just lose $92K in a single hand? I feel sick to my stomach.
Horrible ass call he ain’t got money to be playing like that. 90k
He could've asked for 2x before a call, 1x wasn't enough for me to call. I'd fold
@@MasterChessDojo
Most players aren't going to answer if you ask them to run it twice before calling.
You can't seriously decide your call based on the opponent agreeing to run it twice, because then your opponent can influence your decision by agreeing.
Thanks for the analysis. It's been hilarious reading all the fish comments that are trashing Brad and saying he's out of his league and that he needs to get some help. Sometimes you run good, and sometimes you get a series of tough and unfortunate spots. It's gambling, it's not an exact science that has you always guaranteeing a result.
Yeah huh! Solvers sho nuff go brrrr...they go brrrr bigly...kicking luck (variance) all the way to the gotdam curb. Totes true. "In these spots, solver (adjusted via node locking) says..." And Bob's your mfing uncle.
It’s really not fair. Taras doesn’t have to worry about a relationship to juggle. Unless you count Pizza and Chinese delivery.
Prayers for Brad
How much has he lost this year?
Thanks man!
@@rotttrottt390 nothing I think
@@rotttrottt390-Probably a decent chunk, but he makes decent $ from YT and not sure how much from the lodge but im sure something...on top of having a decent roll to begin with.
If he keeps playin like this he'll be broke pretty soon but i doubt it's panic time just yet.
Yeah, if Brad bets 10k on the flop, he’s more likely to get away from shove. Also, a check behind would be fine knowing your opponent is most likely holding a pair (as played) pre flop and is not going anywhere. You really expect a fold there on the flop? You’re building the pot with ace high…
Brad punted
Odd, this is one of your favorite hands.....still a thorough breakdown.
Yes Doug. Brad CAN BELIEVE what his opponent did.
good to see vanessa back at it!!!!
Damn, that's a crazy call
It's a terrible call.
@@billyidel3030 did you listen to anything doug said?
@ak who cares I use talk-to-text the point is is what I said is correct let's not deflect here..
@ak there's opinions in poker and then there's correct plays...
The mistake comic book guy made preflop becomes way less of an error if Brad is gonna bet/call with just 2 overs. He's actually lucky to even have 23% as Taras would very probably play 2 pair and sets this way. Put Hellmuth instead of Brad and this video would have been about the worst call in the history of poker. Doug clearly sugarcoating this.
12:18 puberty kicking in
love ya content!
So happy to have you back doug!
This is a kind of hands that we need to see and analyse ; not a lot of full house or straight flushes -)
There's a great poker coach that advocates a half half in these spots
This is definitely a fair bit different as it's alot deeper
But if he calls the jam anyway he's better off putting half the effective stack in pre and then it's a no brainer on what the villain does
And when u shove the flop he makes a huge mistake if he folds
And he misses the flop more often than not
Sound like a crappy "coach" if he suggests 5-betting half effective stack. Unless he has KK+ and is playing pure exploit against massive whales.
12:18 xD
rehehehe raggy
Looking good Doug, despite losing the bet with Bill the "business man" Perkins.
Polker Hands is back, I'm finally at peace. 🙏
Love this hand and the way it was played by Taras. When used very sparingly, this kind of hand can be devastating, just like this example. I Like Brad and he is an outstanding player but he played this hand poorly on every decision. He played it as if he had AA. It is a common mistake with AK suited, especially after a run of bad hands or little action.
My sister hooked up with Doug once.
how big is it ?
So did my mom
@@drno1257 He's 6 foot 3, you guess

Great content Doug, as always. Question, who can beat these rich guys with money to burn from the lodge when they bet $27,000 with just a 10-7 and then jam all-in!!
More Polker hands pls
Hi Doug, Can you do a video on why Bryan Sagbigsal was spotted leaving Gman's residence last week? Byran is still evading police as we know so why was he leaving Gmans?
Looks like it’s always possible to justify calling all in with nothing
The supreme leader!
so painful great hand though!
Vanessa, have you ever thought about calling this segment Polker hands?
Any club? There no flush draw on the flip Doug lol
Holy shit. Tough spot. I think both Brad and Andrew are realizing that they’ve got the skills to play larger though. Maybe they’re selling some action in these larger games who knows but they aren’t dummies. I’m sure they’re managing the bank roll.
Playing larger stakes doesn't require more skill, it requires more bank roll. More skill at any level is welcomed.
@@ncharles0333 it does require more skill
@@verytrue9 Wealthy people play poker too, it doesn't make them more skilled. Also, if you think Brad Owen is a high skilled player in the world of poker, we can just agree to disagree and move on.
@@ncharles0333 yeah but a lot more pros play high stakes also, and it's way more difficult to find beatable games in high stakes when u are not a high skilled pro than in lower stakes. The problem with ur statement is that u are actings like the only reason u can't play these games is the bankroll and not lack of skill, which isn't true
@ncharles03 these fanboys should get a life, and a woman!
Coming soon to Peacock-Polker Face
Maybe he was uncomfortable in the game but the dude is not trying to bankrupt his life and career on taking shots that high without being aware and prepared of the possibility of a big loss. People saying that are just dumb. I don't know about some of his decisions at the table but you don't get to this level not understanding bankroll management.
So your saying I really don't know but as far as I think of what poker is... Good job keep selling ur narrative
Does anyone have any idea how Doug came to/calculated that "Brad needed about 27% equity given the odds that he is facing" at 10:40 ??? Thanks in advance.
Brad has to call 51k shove ti win 123k (72k pot + 51k shove, Taras's stack is 81k but Brad's effective stack is only 51k), so Brad's pot odds are 51/(51+123) =~29% .
I cannot believe you’re back. Have you thought about calling it doug hands?
"I think my content is transformative..." if only he'd let his confidence shine through!
Did Terrance see Brads hand then say "we are doing it 1 time!" ???
Big Slick
isnt it crazy that Brad Owen is a famous poker player? The level Doug used to play at compared to this guy and now they play the same game.
Yes, and I also remember when Doug said to unsub from this channel because he was done with this. Guess, what, people grow and change
The blinds a bit too big for young Bradley.
Can someone explain how using a smaller sizing preflop gives Brad more bluffs? Doesn’t a larger sizing give you more room to bluff because the villain needs to win more often when they call the larger you bet?
A larger sizing increases the fold equity for Brad’s opponent but also reduces the opponent’s fold equity when he jams against Brad, meaning Brad shouldn’t have bad hands when he uses a larger sizing that isn’t an all in because he’ll be priced in to call a jam with a poor hand if he’s bluffing.
Essentially, if you want to keep ranges wide and include a lot of bluffs and also be able to value bet a bit more thinly, you need to keep your bet sizes smaller. If you want to narrow (polarise) your range then you should go larger. But if you’re going to do that, you may as well just go all in to maximise fold equity when you’re bluffing.
Poker hands? I think you mean Polker hands 😅
Leave Britney alone!!!😂
It’s a good call
So anyway. That's when I started Polking.
Isnt this the battle of the nits. Strange time to 4 bet with 107s , brad is the definition of abc nit grinder.
Forgot he was playing against the reckloose as a mark
Brad can be up against any set poclet 10s or 9s can make sense 10:30
Sets never c/jam. If you fold out AK+……you’re losing a ridiculous amount of EV.
Funny how everyone was shitting on Brad for this play, and when you break it down, it wasn’t even that bad…
Your standard 5b pot with AK
3bet bigger -> 5bet shove
Have considered a news show and calling it Polkernews?
This is exactly why you shouldn't treat ace king like aces
nit
Did you even watch the video or just scroll thru for the result? Doug explained why a call is perfectly reasonable here
@@WALOWALOWALOWALOWALOWALOWALOW yeah once you put yourself in that spot you have to call. Nobody is saying otherwise dildo

The lesson for the average player is stay out of these spots.
Yes. That single hand proves that poker is a game of skill : ))))
I stopped after 30 sec...is doug ok?, he looks like he's lost alot of weight?
Brad's c-bet is closer to 25%, not 33%. 23.61%, by the math.
Very nice of that reddit mod to mix it up with some poker.
Bad players getting lucky so fun!!!
