How can you not HATE John Taylor...he's 61 and still has all his hair and looks great. hahaha I LOVED Duran Duran as a teen in the 80s. My 8yo daughter just asked me today "What did men's hair look like when you were a kid back in the 90s"...I corrected her that it was actually the 80s...and I instantly took her straight to a video of REFLEX... "Sweety, that's men's hair in the 80s!" .... btw, Mr Taylor, if you see this, I was JOKING about hating you, but losing my hair when I was about 20 yrs old does make me jealous of you guys! :-)
lol yeah, the reflex video was a prime and perfect example for mens hair in the 80's..... as for John , i think he's the man that ever man would like to be at that age (or any age lol)(and definitley like to have his hair line ) ha ha , and every woman wouldnt say no to
Even though I wasn't born in the 80s, my parents were from the 80s but they didn't listen to Duran Duran since my parents were still in Vietnam back then. Also, my parents didn't have a radio to listen to music but has heard of some singers. I'm still in high school and I'm obsessed with Duran Duran. My favourite is John Taylor because mostly, I'm attracted to men with beautiful hair but my older brother teased me about obsessing over Duran Duran.
I can highly relate to this. My parents were a bit old to listen to Duran in the 80s, plus they weren't very musically-oriented people so they didn't pay much attention to the radio. I'm also a high schooler who's massively in love with this band and honestly, I'm very disappointed in my parents for passing up the opportunity to know them back in the day. Now, my dad teases me for liking them 😂 it's nice to see other people our age keeping the Duran legacy alive.
Maybe you have, b/c they probably wouldnt be listening to as much as a fan would if ever they had a bit of free time. Too much other stuff that is probably on that back burner to get through. As well as a plethora of new music to get to. BTW guys, you've literally enriched my life at the lower, tougher times, so... Thank you! ❤️ JT.... If you weren't married...
these guys took over my soul as a teenager in the 80's. Duran Duran is my all time favorite band. Up there with the Beatles, U2, Tom Petty... I was raised on a farm in a small town in nowhere America in a small state. We never had concerts or bands in our town, and I worked jobs in high school and worked my way though college, so I never had a chance to travel to larger cities to see bands when they came to larger states and cities within a few hours drive. But I finally saw Duran Duran in 1997 (or was it 98?) Tampa Florida during the Electric Barbarella tour. I was 2nd row, stage left, right in front of Nick. They were better live than recorded. These guys are the best and I'm so glad you are still rocking... When the hell will they be inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame!!??? They should have been there years ago! Thanks for being such a great part of my life guys. I can't wait to see your next works of art. UPDATE!!!!! THEY MADE IT! ROCK AND ROLL HALL OF FAME BABY!!! Plus, I'm seeing them again this August in the DFW area! Can't wait!
I'm 51 years of age and grew up in Northern Ireland. No bands came to play during the Troubles; Duran did. Kings Hall, Belfast, 1987 and I was there. Thanks for the memories guys and looking forward to some new material! Ne timeas.
Did they play the unplugged version of Save a Prayer with John playing an acoustic guitar? I saw a video and I think it's from that presentation and loved it.
@@JTforeverL I'm afraid I cannot remember if they played the acoustic version. One of my lasting memories was the brass section, especially on tracks like skin trade. The same week they played Belfast, they played the last ever edition of a UK show called 'The Tube' and it is available on RUclips. I hope it's OK to share an anecdote about the Belfast show. A friend of my sister also went to that show. Her father drove her from Derry, which is 80 miles away, and he waited for her until the show was over. He decided to take a stroll around the perimeter of the King's Hall, without realising the show was just coming to a close. At the side of the building a door opened and some gentlemen emerged and he casually said hello and asked if he could go in and meet his daughter. The gentlemen held the door open for him and gave him directions to the auditorium. The Friday of that week he and his daughter watched Duran's performance on The Tube and he quipped that that was the guys he was chatting to!
I love the way is Nick Rhodes, since he was young, always polite in the interviews. He listens, he has very nice eyes contact, and then wait to talk and answer, he looks so calm, I love him, he is so handsome too!!!!
I totally agree with you! He is very very calm at all times...he comes across highly educated, charming and cool , calm and colected...He's smart! And theres something attractive about it in him...I was thinking that about 2 weeks ago whilst watching him having some press photos took...Hes 100% ZEN ha ha , thanks for that comment, loved it!Have a great night! Totally love this. Huge respect for Nick and John. I can relate a lot to Nick in terms of sound sculpting he talks about to not getting tattoos at all. John is fantastic as usual. What draws me to these guys and Duran Duran in general is their child -like spirit, they are still in love with music and music culture and curious about the world and what is in store for tomorrow. It is this optimism that runs through DD's aesthetic and why they have lasted through all the incredible ups and terrible lows. It is a story of survival more than anything.
I loved this band as a pre-teen/teenager and love them/the music still. I so appreciate this group, even more today and having the ability to watch a conversation between two friends makes them all the more real. The human-ness shown through beautifully. The simple human interaction was wonderful to witness and increases my appreciation all the more for all the years, tears, hard work and achievement! Duran Duran has been my favorite since 1983 and will ALWAYS be my #1 band.

I really enjoyed this from Duran. What a breath of fresh air from a pop star interview. Please record more guys. You where a very important influence on me as a teen and thank you guys xxxx love n peace
Thanks guys for keeping all you lovely music and transformation going through the years. You've been my favorite group since 1981.(sophomore in HS) I just saw Duran Duran on Halloween in Vagas .It was worth the 40 year wait. Only Simon could sing Wild Boys in a wedding dress! Keep up the great work! Thanks you!
It’s so wonderful to be able to hear and see these guys as individuals vs the absolute mega larger than life beings I grew to love from the beginning. I’m sure they have their faults, but so can’t see them. Would love to see more of these type things.
You boys look AMAZING 😄!!! Thank you for forming DURAN DURAN!!!! Please never break up and continue to make music. All of your fans love you! Much love and blessings to you two and also Roger and Simon ❤️❤️❤️❤️!!!!!!! DD fan 4EVER!!!!
Thanks for posting this Durantastic interview between good friends! I missed it.. Guess I need to figure out how to NOT miss these live events. Very grateful ❤️
Seeing John Taylor's birthday present is so gratifying.....I LOVE the fact that people still want to OWN things. Streaming and whatnot is free, I know but the PLEASURE of handling, protecting and storing something that you can watch functionning (in my case, my record collection which I have in record racks like a shop)...to me, it's life-affirming. People please, for as long as you can, hold off that extremely frightening prediction 'you'll own nothing but be happy'!! Say no. Have stuff and enjoy it, feel it, preserve it, display it.
I have an immense amount of 70s , 80s, and some 90s vinyls , which i keep and protect like my babies ha ha ... I understand fully the handling and protecting part as I am totally the same and I still hunt for and purchase vinyls today. I am very lucky that my parents were/are proffesional musicians/ radio and nightclub dj from the 70s and 80s and i now have all their LP's and records from early 70's onwards and it is a very huge collection which the likes of dark side of the moon, the beatles, abba, think lizzy, bad company,t rex,eagles...and similar...in immaculate condition so I treasure them and will be passing them down when i am gone to the next generation lol. I love checking the sleeves, years, vinyl info on the spines etc...the actual physical aspect about owning a record or LP is great, have a brilliant day! Sonique
I always idolized these guys once I discovered their music before they really even hit it big here in the United States in the early 80s. But after watching this I idolize them even more, but in a different way. I realize, now that I'm older, that they are just regular people like me, but with extraordinary musical talent. They are so down to earth that it gives me a whole new appreciation, of not only their music, but of them as human beings.
Love these guys and it's fascinating to listen to them, but no mention of Depeche Mode as favorite keyboardists? I was surprised by that, especially since the Pet Shop Boys were mentioned. Depeche really had the coolest keyboard sounds and really knew how to use them, especially earlier on.
Yes, very odd. Maybe some words were excganged sometime on their way up into popularity and are rivals that had person conflicts? Has anyone heard Depeche mention DD? See, that can go both ways. Love both bands.
@@RetroReminiscing Google “When David Gahan met Simon Le Bon” - hilarious. Bandmates will be loyal to their singers. Maybe it’s much ado about nothing… or not.
They are so polite each other. So funny. So good looking. I was teenager 1985 and I LOVE Simon. Now 52 and he is my dream...! 🥰❤️ Thank you this clip. Hola from Finland 🇫🇮
I thought when John asked Nick whose his favorite keyboard player was I thought he was going to say himself. I thought that Sean Connery made the best James Bond. There is a part two of this video on Facebook I found out. My favorite Bryan is Adams.
My favorite keyboard player ,besides Nick , is definitely Andrew Fletcher from Depeche Mode. Those two bands were playing and being famous around the same time. :).
True. I have loved them since their US debut. I feel like they helped raise me from a teen, and that I am a better woman due to their influence. And I consider them my friends. Sorry, I mean no offense. Be well, both of you. Thank God John has recovered from covid-19.
Love love love this! I have been a fan since the early 80s and this summer I will see them at Red Rocks, CO. I think it will be the 12th time seeing them (I think that is counting Powerstation). My favorite band of all time! I was definitely a hard core Duranie in my teens and have never really recovered! lol
Love these guys so much. Such a big part of my early teens and up until today. I don't know them but they helped me get through my days in bad homelife. They were my escape. Forever a fan I'll be. ❤️
The more I listen to Nick, the more I relate to his personality, which isn't easy because he's always been so private! Certainly the most private out of the five!
I'm so glad they are both suspicious of the ongoing Virus news that spews at us ad nauseam. These guys truly lived the Free life of the 80s. They are so cultured too.
I have so much in common run rummer clud and i went to so many london, funk, punk, early electronic and did the art and old 8mm black and white, and much, so more wasp was my first synth and used guitar pedals to experiment, chorus and more and now experiment so such, Thanks mr rhodes form yourve helped my journeyxx
Nick is the one I LIKE his music and likes the art of my country, Italy so I highly AGREE with him. Nick has a lot to offer both as person and a great musician. GLAD He likes Italy and the art I LOVE. Angela Umbria Italyh PS: he might like Assisi too.
Growing up I thought these guys were pretentious and over the top with all the make up and the fashion. But I really have a newfound interest, seeing how they have continued on for 40+ years and still sound superb (i saw them in San Jose last week). I esp love hearing these two guys and their Birmingham days. I like how they sound so down to earth and self deprecating, which Simon and Roger are like too. Much respect and admiration for these mates!
I wanna know what were those 'bizarre questions'?? And i want john to answer about being or not materialistic instead of what's his favorite flower.. 🤣
Gotta love how Madonna's "Justify My Love" was used as the opening theme song for this video. Haven't seen her music video for it in ~ 2 years on MTV Classic. Regarding John and Nick's virtual Q&A, I definitely have to agree with Nick about the tattoos. I don't want to be tortured with a needle to put on a tattoo, then remove it. Decades ago, retail employers didn't want to hire anyone with tattoos and piercing. If they were hired, employees had to remove all their extra body piercings and tattoos had to be covered with long clothing or some body make-up. Today everyone including their cat, dog, and baby has a tattoo with body piercings and they get hired for jobs before people like me. There are literally nurses with wrist tattoos and tramp stamps, when I go for doctor's appointments and job interviews now. When I was a teenager back in the '90s, I thought both tattoos and body piercings were cool. By the 21st Century, both became passe as John Taylor said in this video. When I say "passe," it's because Hipsters ruined both! They also ruined fashion, entertainment, as well as Goth, and Punk sub-cultures. Speaking of entertainment, politics has most definitely ruined entertainment over the last 17 years. That was partly why I quit my job in college years ago as a Radio DJ. Therefore, I can empathize with John Taylor saying that politics is really intense here in America. You can't even enjoy the taste of ice cream anymore without being patronized about politics ad nauseam.
Really? Thats not good lol....I will have to post more duran duran!! ha ha , thank you for leaving a comment here and i hope everythings going great for you today in Argentina! Best wishes, from the uk! Sonique x
That is exactley what I thought...majority of adolescents or young people these days wouldnt look twice at this..... yet the music they produced and gave out is still to this day fantastic and classic to an 80s fans out there or indeed duran duran fans lol Have a great day! x
At 1:11 John wonders about the news media cutting down on expenses. They are using skype and other plateform to interview people even if the connection is terrible. It's definitely a matter of budget. I'm a reporter in the Montreal area and I have witnessed budgets cuts for the past 10 years or so. I'm actually lucky to have a job! Love you guys!

I really enjoyed this from Duran. What a breath of fresh air from a pop star interview. Please record more guys. You where a very important influence on me as a teen and thank you guys xxxx love n peace
Im glad you enjoyed this...great isnt it ! Thanks for leaving a comment, have a brilliant evening! Sonique x
Nick, still my favorite. Love the laugh and smiles.
Thanks you!
I'm glad Nick discovered the synthesizers too.
👌🎹😁
Nick is always such a classy man, but I love John being interested in gardening.....i just love them!!!
It’s so wonderful to be able to hear and see these guys as individuals vs the absolute mega larger than life beings I grew to love from the beginning. I’m sure they have their faults, but so can’t see them. Would love to see more of these type things.
Nick Rhodes will always have part of my heart.

@@RetroReminiscing you too! Duranies forever ✊🏻
Thanks for posting this Durantastic interview between good friends! I missed it.. Guess I need to figure out how to NOT miss these live events. Very grateful ❤️
Hi Debbie, I am so pleased it made you happy! Hope you have a lovely evening too. x
Watching this in fits and starts, Nick talking about science.... ❤️
John looks the same. So does Nick. But my god John has that laugh and it gives me goosebumps!
Thank you for doing these live sessions! I sincerely appreciate their musical talent and personalities. Hopefully I’ll see a show soon ❤️
When Nick asks John what is his fav bass player like it's most undiscovered thing ever and then right after that he realizes we all know who it is😂😂
ha ha oh yes!
I meant 'who' 😊
Bernard Edwards???
Looking good John & Nick! Thanks for being candid. It's great to hear from yas.
Sonique
There’s a lot of love between these two. ❤❤
I agree yes.....you would have thought at least a quick mention of them....im with you on that! 👌👌
Good to see you're safe and well.
They are so polite each other. So funny. So good looking. I was teenager 1985 and I LOVE Simon. Now 52 and he is my dream...! 🥰❤️ Thank you this clip.
Hola from Finland 🇫🇮
dd are like my family,as in they are close to me because they mean so much to me.,ill love them foreverx
I thought when John asked Nick whose his favorite keyboard player was I thought he was going to say himself. I thought that Sean Connery made the best James Bond. There is a part two of this video on Facebook I found out. My favorite Bryan is Adams.
I know , lol.
My favorite keyboard player ,besides Nick , is definitely Andrew Fletcher from Depeche Mode. Those two bands were playing and being famous around the same time. :).
I have loved them since I was 9, I'm now almost 50....and Nick has always been my favorite ❤
Brilliant. They are so down to earth and interesting ☺️
True.
I have loved them since their US debut.
I feel like they helped raise me from a teen, and that I am a better woman due to their influence.
And I consider them my friends.
Sorry, I mean no offense.
Be well, both of you.
Thank God John has recovered
from covid-19.
I agree totally with your wording x
Love love love this! I have been a fan since the early 80s and this summer I will see them at Red Rocks, CO. I think it will be the 12th time seeing them (I think that is counting Powerstation). My favorite band of all time! I was definitely a hard core Duranie in my teens and have never really recovered! lol
Love these guys so much. Such a big part of my early teens and up until today. I don't know them but they helped me get through my days in bad homelife. They were my escape. Forever a fan I'll be. ❤️
I've never heard these guys speak
before, but l now know why they
created so much beautiful music...
Two beautiful guys...❤🌠
That was just fabulous.
Glad you liked it Linda, have a lovely monday afternoon !
Bobby Charlton had a "Comb-over"...Nick Rhodes has a "Comb-forward" 😁😆😅
The more I listen to Nick, the more I relate to his personality, which isn't easy because he's always been so private! Certainly the most private out of the five!
This was a great watch, love them ❤️
Duran Duran fueron y son lo mas guys, G-d bless them🤩
Nick is Highly underrated as a mere keyboardist, hes really quite a genius!! Love them both!!
They look like that in 2020? I’ll have that they’re having, please.
ha ha !
Love u guys, best memories saw u in Sydney 1983 x
Wonderful! Thank you!
❤❤❤love Nick. Saw them in Manchester 🎶
How lovely and lucky! 😃🎶👍
Yes!!! JT fav bond hero ia sean connery!!!
You'd be surprised Johnny !!😂
I'm so glad they are both suspicious of the ongoing Virus news that spews at us ad nauseam. These guys truly lived the Free life of the 80s. They are so cultured too.
I love you, JT.
I very like Duran Duran
I have so much in common run rummer clud and i went to so many london, funk, punk, early electronic and did the art and old 8mm black and white, and much, so more wasp was my first synth and used guitar pedals to experiment, chorus and more and now experiment so such, Thanks mr rhodes form yourve helped my journeyxx

Sonique x
Nick is the one I LIKE his music and likes the art of my country, Italy so I highly AGREE with him. Nick has a lot to offer both as person and a great musician. GLAD He likes Italy and the art I LOVE. Angela Umbria Italyh PS: he might like Assisi too.
You have a lot of very good content & deserve many more friends.
Both of them are fantastic
Thank you for posting this
Hi ! Another Duran Duran fan? Thanks for stopping by and I am glad you liked it! Have a fantastic day, take care. Sonique
A good watch, always found them interesting people beyond their music. Shame they got Sean C being a Glaswegian instead of Edinburgh.
These are great questions!
Love to see them! In Argentina we don’t have much information about DD!
Really? Thats not good lol....I will have to post more duran duran!! ha ha , thank you for leaving a comment here and i hope everythings going great for you today in Argentina! Best wishes, from the uk! Sonique x
They look great.
no matter what happened to me,,i still love you
Amazing!
I never knew that was JT on the saxophone!
Of course it was obviously Nick on the raft.
In the RIO video, I mean.
RANDY JUDAH TALK 🎼❤️
That is exactley what I thought...majority of adolescents or young people these days wouldnt look twice at this..... yet the music they produced and gave out is still to this day fantastic and classic to an 80s fans out there or indeed duran duran fans lol Have a great day! x

Favorite fictional hero of the moment, Perseus.
Johns comment at 1:02 is very very fitting in this months climate.
Love you guys!
ok here i go,ive loved you for do long
love this
So glad you do! Have a great easter weekend!
Love this!!! ❤❤
