    I do think that the Good Will Hunting scene makes sense within the context of the movie. I’d definitely recommend for you to watch the entire film, maybe react to it as a whole.

    I'd love if you did an episode entirely dedicated to Bojack Horseman. Not necessarily where you react to the psychologist/therapy sessions in the show (though those are good), but the portrayals of mental illnesses etc. in generalI'd be really interested to see a psych's take on it. (and, of course, other portrayals of mental illness, like Girl Interrupted, or even the alcoholism and other character traits/motivations in Disenchanted)

    Ok, so on a friend’s recommendation (actually 4 friends from all over the world) I watched the film Get Out. It had everything: Mom was a psychologist, Dad was a neurosurgeon, they used hypnosis, brainwashing, cultural sociological commentary. I’m now really curious if hypnosis can work the way it did in the film. Anyway - kudos again here for the great series.

    I would love for you to watch Buffy the Vampire Slayer Season 5 Episode 16 "The Body" Her mother dies unexpectedly and everyone is reacting and coping differently with their grief. It's the most realistic portrayal of dealing with death I've ever seen, and it's critically acclaimed as "the best hour of television of all time." So I think it would be pretty wonderful for a psychologist to review it.

    Dream Door is new, diverse, has therapy scenes (woman goes to couples counseling alone) also the neighbor is a PhD candidate studying Freud’s work. It’s a brilliant show and I’m curious if they did their homework better than previous shows. It’s on Sci Fi and I believe only has had one episode under Channel Zero’s 4rth series.

    • @QueenArielViolet
      @QueenArielViolet 5 лет назад +2

      Honestly, you could probably make a whole video analyzing the therapy scenes in Good Will Hunting. Obviously, Robin Williams' character violates many basic ethical boundaries a therapist in real life should never cross (excessive self-disclosure, violence, excessive counter-transference, etc.), but if one overlooks this aspect of the film as Hollywood movie hyperbole, the film is interesting to analyze from a psychological perspective.

    It'd be interesting if you reacted to some scenes from episodes of the show "Glee". Technically they're not full therapy sessions since they're in a school setting with a school counsellor, but it'd be cool to hear your perspective on them, especially since certain characters in the show dealt with mental illness.

    • @moonblossom2289
      @moonblossom2289 5 лет назад

      I believe she was in a group of fictional characters and we were asked to assign certain potential mental illnesses to each of them, most people I think gave her Narcissistic PD or Histrionic PD because of her attention-seeking actions and her belief that she was superior to all the others in glee club and therefore deserved special treatment.

    • @psychcity2214
      @psychcity2214 5 лет назад +1

      That makes sense. Yes, I'd always thought she had some narcissistic tendencies, but not totally convinced it would warrant a full diagnosis. I don't think she lacked empathy for others, but she definitely had some attention-seeking behaviours and a sense of superiority at times. I guess it's just a show after all, though.

    Hey;) i really enjoyed your react vedios, iv'e watched all the seasons of "in treatment", i highly recommend you watching it ! I must say that you were right about the scene of Walter, they began therapy before he tried to commit suicide (and hospitalized) , so the therapist wasn't part of the hospitalization staff, which explains the depth in that session;)
    The depth in the sessions on this series is really fascinating, also i felt like it triggers you to question your ethical boundaries, and your interests in that profession, but it leaves you amazed by the power of therapy.
    I'd really love to hear your reflection about that series :)

    29:07 A great channel but you should really consider doing more preparatory research. Military PTSD is not what this scene is about. Martin is, now was, a high-pressure CEO who will now be hospitalized and likely never resume his career because of the international supply chain mistake he made. And it MAY be the therapist's fault for regressing him too far too fast. I always felt Byne's character had perhaps destroyed this guy's life. The client sort of asks him if he was trying to push him to have a break down and Byrne says, "Not consciously." What a cavalier answer! If he brought about this outcome he should be sued for sure! GREAT show BTW. If you knew what's going on your analysis would be Much more relevant.
