  • A 30-year-old man named Kyler Efinger was found dead after crawling into an airplane’s engine at Salt Lake City airport in Utah, US.
After missing his flight to Denver, where he was headed to visit his sick grandfather, he broke through an emergency exit at the airport and was later found in the engine following a report of the breach.

@@randomasmr5238depends on the airlines policy. I doubt many give refunds for missed flights.
The airlines probably not all that happy with the man either if he wrecked one of their engines and gave them a PR disaster to deal with.
The family might be able to go after the airport itself for failing to keep him away from aircraft, but given he did it intentionally that's probably a waste of time.

He missed his flight, he went to the gate that was long boarded, he tried to get on the plane by forcing the door, by breaking the window, then finally stopping the plane itself which ended his life when he got to close to the engines. We see this is a mental health breakdown which put himself in a dangerous situation which ended in an accidental death.

He was not sucked up into the engine…the engine was not running. When he was found he was unconscious and Narcan was used to try and revive him. He suffered from found bipolar disorder, diagnosed 10 years ago," explained Kyler's sister, Anneke. "He had his first major manic episode and then he kind of continued to have those every two or three years, and those were always really hard.”
Kyler was scheduled to fly to Denver to see his sick grandfather, but he had an unspecified episode and breached the airport security door. His family believes the incident stemmed from another mental health crisis.
“He got held up in security, missed his flight, and those phone calls, I just knew it was coming on. They call it the manic phase. Those just don’t end well for him," said Judd. "Obviously, this one, the worst ever.”

Plus it’s night time. It be difficult for the pilots to see a person below their nose.
Even with the wing and belly lights on the aircraft. Their blind spots are huge.
Even if they realize he was out there, it still takes time to either contact the tower to get security to them; and power down the aircraft safely without destroying the engines in the process.
    Definitely not completely sane.
How do you expect to stop a plane that’s thousands of pounds; and why would they let you board even if you did after your little stunt.
