The manager was cool, security hadn't a clue about public photography. Nice to have you back DJ.
I was chairman of the Suzuki owners club and met many of the Japanese and British bosses, fond memories of them all. They loved the public interaction, even John Reynolds and teriyaki ( spelling?) BSB riders wow. Suzuki himself originally manufactured sewing machines this led to violins and other instruments. Outboards, quads, bikes, cars, vans, one of the motorcycle has was in Croydon 😊
It would be wonderful if other industries took a lesson from this executive on how to handle these situations. He was the most switched on person I have seen deal with this kind of auditor.
But is part of the bureaucracy that hired the slob in the gatehouse, giving him the responsibility for security and greeting visitors to site? Fail. The fact that he later spin doctors a seemingly positive angle on the situation is the reason he is management - It isn't because he is a good manager, it is because he talks a good shop.
The security guard wasn't too overbearing and he just expressed his thoughts and then passed it up the chain. The manager was great . OVERALL - Well done Suzuki.
It would be nice to hear these security guards apologize when they know and learn that they are wrong. The facilities manager was a decent bloke, it was nice to hear him genuinely speaking and not being afraid of the camera 👍😁
In my younger days, I had a Suzuki GS850, Barry Sheene was one of my heroes, I have a son named Barry, named after Sheene and Barry John, who was my rugby hero.
Shout out to the facilities manager. Very polite and friendly. And another classic example of a clueless security guard dictating what members of the public can and can’t do on public property.
I grew up watching Barry sheene & got to meet him, Was my most favorite time seeing him racing against the great's like Joey Dunlop, Ron Haslem & many more motor cycling greats.
the SIA need to start getting tough with these useless guards, make it really difficult to enter the industry so they get a half decent calibre of gaurds, physical tests aswel as tests involving the GDPR laws etc.

Given the history of war/conflict/troubles in this part of the UK I would be happy to give advice or accompany you. Despite the relative “peace” of the past 20 years, there would still be some additional concerns that one may find because of the Paramilitary existence (IRA/ UVF/ UDA/ UFF etc.).

Security is about the same where ever you go in the world. They are mostly clueless, triggered and have no authority outside their client’s property (includes up to the entrance and/or fence). At least the security guard’s boss knows the score and is reasonable 👍. I always enjoy DJ Audit’s videos 👏👏👏 👍👍

i personally feel SIA gaurds should only be aged 21 - 60. when they are too young they are a risk to site. when they are too old they are a risk to site. make this mandatory.
I’ve taken the course and believe me there were people who should never have passed. Stupid people, angry people, some can barely speak English. All passed got a badge. Some courses come with guaranteed job offers too !
I'm licenced and have challenged idiots. They soon shut the fuck up when they find out I have a license. When the man in the video covered his badge, he broke the law and should have his badge revoked. Some of us are educated, we're not all clowns.

Out of ten of us to start the course, I was the only one to pass the first time. Another lad did a re-sit and eventually passed. Some of the lads were obviously there for the thrill of violence rather than conflict prevention, which was sad. My tutor was brilliant. He once got into Chelsea FC with a fake IED and other weapons, then went on to retrain the security so it couldn't happen for real. I doubt the guy in the video would pass nowadays.

Done it and its incredibly basic anyone with half a brain could pass it and still fuck all about photography. Only takes 5 minutes to explain to someone laws about private property being a civil matter and the photography rules around it and they still don't. I guess they have to prioritise the real important stuff like terrorism and don't want to overload too much information onto the braindead ones out there.
I'll believe it when I see it. The obvious problem is ringers doing the test - it's already an issue for driving licenses. This is standard operating procedure for many New Britons, they don't even view it as doing anything wrong, it's just a cost like any other.

Great attitude from Suzuki, but I do have one complaint @13:49 I have been driving for over 30 years and I have never ever in my entire life purchased a gallon of petrol. Maybe car manufacturers are not clued up, but in the UK petrol is sold by the litre. It is far easier to see how efficient a car is by distance per litre than a quantifier than hasn't been used since the 70's.
