How do you define good and evil? But in the life you live?

    • @andrevisser7542

The story of Eden, God's garden.
God created Adam in His image and likeness, to be His son with the authority to rule the earth with God.
The two "trees" in the garden, the "tree" of life is speaking of God, Adam could "eat" from that tree as much as he want. The other "tree" was what God warned Adam about, the "tree" of knowledge of *good and evil,* the tree that would bring death, speaking of the exact opposite of the first "tree", satan, created not only to be a choice for Adam but also a challenge or opposition...
The other "tree" however deceived Adam, pretending to be good, when Adam believed the lie and chose to reject God's word (warning) he got separated from God (you can't eat from both trees), his spirit "died" (can not operate in the spirit realm anymore), got his mortal body (body of sin), lost his authority to rule (satan took that) and fallen into satan's bondage (satan now has a claim on him).
As descendants of Adam, we are all born in this fallen state, born into bondage, living in satan's nature (definition of sin) which lead to death...
In this fallen state, it is interesting to note that we can still choose good or we can choose evil but both are still "eating" from the wrong tree.
There is only one way to get delivered from satan's bondage, getting our spirit resurrected which in turn restore our relationship with our Creator, allowing Him to change us back into His image and likeness, living in His nature and that is through His manifestation in flesh (representing fallen Adam) but without sin, when this sinless "man" died, (the opposite of Adam who sinned and brought death into the world) he destroyed satan's claim on man. This restore our authority to rule over the deceiver, the opposer, "eating" from the "tree" of life again....

It would be interesting to know how many choices the average human being makes Every 24 hours. Each choice that we make, beginning with whether to get out of bed, or sleep for another 10 minutes; Has a dramatic impact on our timeline as we walk through the day. So many choices seem to be Mundane. When I was young, I was always waiting for that one choice that would really impact my life in a spectacular way for good. Now I realize that it's the culmination of a lifetime of seemingly small and innocuous choices, that shape our personality and determine our character, and also determine what choices continue to be available to us, Or not.
You are a desperately needed Light; in a Dark World Sir. Carrion !
I believe that's from a joke you told. LOL
I cannot express my thoughts and feelings concerning the Responsibility that you have somehow managed to levitate onto your own shoulders. So: you are following your own advice, which is as common as flying monkeys.

I see some validity to this in the same way you wouldn't do your kid'a homework for them. Sure, you could easily breeze through those low levels math. Addition? Subtraction? Easy peasy. For you, but not for the kid (yet). The kid needs to struggle through some of that learning process and figuring out how to process it on their own, to get the building blocks they need to understand life better and build on those skills to get to deeper mathematics like multiplication, calculus, etc
Similarly perhaps, while God could easily remove all obstacles from our lives, part of our process to growth, independence, and maturity involves 'suffering' or working and struggling through life processes. Learning how to communicate. Learning how to forgive, to be a good friend, to do right and not evil. If we don't learn these things, we severely cap our capacity to grow and build on them and become more capable people.

@@truthfulpatriot9129 true, though that statement has many ppl wondering and trying to figure out exactly what it means. Aka there hasn't been a unified understanding of it
there's the idea of salvation by grace through faith, though faith without works is dead
and, even though there's a matter of working out your salvation, in what way are we to work? Is it just in growing as a person, or something else or more?
Not fully sure, but I believe some of it pertains to morality and keeping oneself pure/holy unto God. While we may mess up at times, God's grace helps in those moments, but we shouldn't be actively participating in or practicing sin. Some of it may also pertain to doing good deeds or helping those in need

I've been following Jordan for several years now and it has been so awesome to watch him grow and evolve in his faith. Many times, intellectual types manage to reason their way OUT of believing in God. Jordan has had such profound experiences that it has literally forced his hand to believe. Truly incredible to watch. The line, "because I knew you could win" is more profound than most people realize. That's how God views us. Even in our broken, angry, ugly often misguided ways...he still believes in us.

"But God commendeth his love toward us, in that, while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us." Romans 5:8
God made man to know and fellowship with him. We have rebelled against God like disobedient children. Parents continue to love their children in spite of the mistakes they make and the trouble they cause them.
That is what "grace" is all about in the Bible. God provided a remedy for our rebellion in Jesus Christ. For those who trust Jesus Christ as full restitutions for their sins and disobedience, our relationship with God is restored and we can truly call him "Abba" ("Father"). God knows that we can never be perfect. He alone is perfectly "holy". That is why he will receive us in Jesus Christ who fulfilled the moral law perfectly for us. Christians are "accepted in the beloved" because they have connected with Jesus Christ by faith. The Christian life is a life of JOY (knowing that you are forgiven) not of torment over our inability to live up to God's standard of perfection. "Sanctification" is a continuous process whereby Christians progressively purify their lives after they have believed by the POWER of the Holy Spirit who now indwells them.
Ephesians 1:5-7 "Having predestinated us unto the adoption of children by Jesus Christ to himself, according to the good pleasure of his will, To the praise of the glory of his grace, wherein he hath made us accepted in the beloved.
In whom we have redemption through his blood, the forgiveness of sins, according to the riches of his grace;"
      Ephesians 1:5-7
1 Corinthians 3:16 "Know ye not that ye are the temple of God, and that the Spirit of God dwelleth in you?
Romans 8:14 "For as many as are led by the Spirit of God, they are the sons of God."

Love when Jordan opens up like this! I always had a saying to myself about why we’re here and all this confusion about evil being brought into the world. I think it’s about free will and also like Jordan was saying it’s a test. But god is so holy and perfect that God says I’m going to put you through cruel, unrelenting, and crazy world. Because if you can’t choose me (God) at your worst. Then how are you going to choose me(God) at your best? Because that’s what satan’s flaw was, he loved himself, his ego, his pride. And choose to stop being an angel and decided to become his own god.

He asked us all individually if we thought we wanted to participate in this. And, knowing the challenges and the eventual rewards, everyone of us said, yes, I want to go... I want the chance to learn , to understand, to achieve, to progress and to become.

I really appreciate what your channel does in showing Professor Jordan Peterson's great understanding of Christianity. I hope in the future you will check out more Christ centered and Scripturally accurate content for the furtherance of The Gospel of The Lord Jesus Christ 🙏❤️. This has nothing and everything to do with the video but please listen if you want to otherwise leave it alone and ignore it. Hello my name is Justin and I'm a fellow Christian and Apologist but I'm also a college student. I'm not a closed minded Theist as I have nothing against Atheists or unbelievers as I speak to them often to understand their reasons for unbelief but we as Christians are convinced of God's Existence due to many real factors). I'm not trying to convert anyone or convince anyone to become Christians as that's The Holy Spirit's job to help people believe but only explain why I believe in Jesus Christ. There's actually evidence of God's Existence in Christianity. First of all there's proof that Jesus of Nazareth existed in history since the writings of Tacitus, Josephus Flavius, Pliny the younger and other historical documents prove that He was living two thousand years ago that even scholars both religious and Atheists agree with historically speaking but not that He's The Divine Son of God because obviously they don't.
I'm going to give you historical and archeological evidence for God's Existence as The Scriptures have prophecies that predate the events recorded in them by several millennia including Matthew, Hosea and Zechariah which prophesy accurately of the people of Israel becoming a nation again after over 1900 years of being scattered around the nations since the destruction of the Temple in Jerusalem in 70 A.D. spoken of by Christ in Matthew 23:29-24:3 and returning to their homeland after The Holocaust with Jerusalem as their capital in 1948 exactly as Jesus The Christ said. The prophets including Daniel spoke of the time where several world empires would arise and fall including the Babylonian kingdom, Medes and Persians, Roman Empire, and Saladin and the Muslims which went in consecutive order for the past few millennia. The people of Israel becoming a nation after The Holocaust in 1948 (ironically the melting point of gold as God compares Israel to gold that's tested in fire in Zechariah 13:8 and Jeremiah 16:15) exactly how Jesus The Christ said would happen since God us everything to come in The Scriptures and not just because people were working towards as Atheists claim which are impossible for any regular man to predict.
Just before anyone says Christianity is a white man's religion made to oppress blacks during slavery you obviously aren't aware that the first Christians were Jews in The Middle East and that Christianity just like any religion can be used by evil and corrupt people to oppress others but you forget that the first Abolitionists/Civil Rights activists were Christians who sought to abolish slavery, racism, segregation, injustice and prejudice throughout American history. Jesus The Christ loves you enough not to give you what we all deserve which is God's Wrath by His Own Blood. Charles Darwin didn't originally come up with The Theory of Evolution over 200 years ago as it is mentioned in the writings of Ancient Greeks who believed in Demons that gave knowledge to philosophers.
Evolution makes no sense when nothing has evolved after thousands of years of human history and supposedly the first creature came from primordial sludge several millions of years
ago funny how they won't believe that God an Eternal Almighty Spirit Being created us from the Earth) which came from a supermassive expansion of matter at high temperature that inexplicably created everything in the known universe that supposedly came from nothing billions of years ago. How did the organs evolve before there were bones, skin, substance and how did any creatures see before eyes evolved? I've studied evolution and abiogenesis in the past and read Darwin's " Origin of The Species" I've studied evolution and abiogenesis in the past and read Darwin's " Origin of The Species" and I'm not convinced of but not macro or micro Evolution because there's no evidence of it nor clear observable examples of it where living creatures evolve into other kinds of species plus the fact that fossils don't show evidence of evolution and genetic entropy rules out evolution. The question begs how did two genders evolve from a common ancestor with a perfectly hospitable and sustainable environment with breathable oxygen and resources to survive on inexplicably? Atheists have the burden of proof to explain how everything came to be and why our existence is possible without the Existence of God from an godless perspective just as Christians have to provide evidence of God's Existence and the validity of His Word.
Evolution requires life to already exist in order to take any effect in living organisms so it doesn't account for the existence of Life and reality. Also evolution is impossible because it goes against The Law of entropy and the second Law of thermodynamics because evolution makes things better whereas nothing continues to get better but decays and turns to absolute destruction in the end. Mark Ridley an Evolutionist said "No evolutionist whether gradualist or punctuationist uses the fossil record as evidence in favor of The Theory of Darwinian Evolution as opposed to special Creation". God's Existence is made perfectly known and observable in the universe as demonstrated in His Handiwork in the intelligently designed manner that Creation was made, human consciences and consciousness historical and archaeological evidence of God's Word being valid history, fulfillment of Bible Prophecies God in His Holiness and Righteousness could give us what we deserve in Hell for our since but He's merciful to give us free will to choose to accept or reject His gift of salvation by grace through faith in His Son Jesus. I don't mean this is any condescending manner but if you'd like to discuss The Scriptures with me or have me listen to your view on anything my instagram account is Savage Christian Kombatant.

At 1st I did not define good and evil. I accepted the definition of The Bible. But as I grew and came into contact with evil, I recognized it by seeing the effects of certain deeds, on people's lives. So the product determines the seed. When we see a maple tree, we know the seed. So then I began to look for the signs of the seed. I didn't have look very hard. but as I got older and educated, it became difficult to spot. and Evil would make itself home in me. It's difficult to eradicate from one's life. it has so many faces. and often I allowed a little Evil in for something that I thought I had to have. Now it just shows up unannounced. I think it lives in my Garage, and just comes into the house occasionally for entertainment. I'm kidding, kind of. I believe that the physical realm and the spirit realm co-exist and that a part of us is always in the spirit realm. I think it's our mind. If we don't stay out of the shadows, we can take a hit. No one is exempt.
It's seriously like the most complicated real time video game ever. And the Stakes are people's lives. including your own.

I just realized that I focused most of my time in my post on evil.
GOOD takes so much more effort, but when you work hard at doing the right thing, for the right reason, for a long time, you build something magnificent. You can't see it, but you know it exists, because you put your heart and mind into it for years. The Power of GOOD is unequaled. I believe that the most powerful weapons on earth are forgiveness, Truth, and Mercy, or love. Not cliche love, sacrificial love. And The Truth is simply paramount to our existence. Without the truth, we couldn't even disagree. how boring. There is no reason to even communicate if there is no standard to oppose or defend. We would still be cavemen. And Mercy or love is self explanatory. Forgiveness is awesome. I Don't believe any of us are actually capable of it but that's actually not the point. As we strive to forgive we learn about the creator, and we become self reflective. I think because we are forced to admit to ourself that we are incapable of complete forgiveness. I'm not talking about your children. we all forgive them even when we shouldn't. So that's one of the things you can learn about the Highest. He wants to forgive us, for we are His Chidren. I believe that we are successful at forgiveness when we reach a point where we actually want to forgive. I seriously doubt that we're actually capable of doing it except for our own children. This is turning into a book. At least you don't ask complex questions. I'm too tired to integrate the two and answer properly. sorry.
The good news is I will continue to consider it until I make peace with the question.

They ate the fruit of the tree of science of good and evil, it wasn’t an apple tree, and they sinned because they desired the same thing Satan did, to become like God. Death described in the scriptures according to how God thinks is not merely the physical death, however, the death God is addressing with Eve when instructing to not eat from the specific tree is the death that would occur between “them, Adam and Eve” in relation to God and their relationship (for lack of better word because this relationship packs a lot of weight in it and is much different than we think it is) through spiritual separation. And that’s exactly what happens, they ate the fruit and became separated from God. So in Genesis 3:22 -23. the scriptures explain why He kicked them out of the garden… it was so they would not eat from the tree of life and become eternally separated from God in Sin. In a nutshell this is the surface of what happened because there’s a lot more packed in these initial chapters.

To the question why put a flaming sword in front of the entrance of the garden of Eden to prevent us from eating of the tree of Life; because had we eaten from the tree of life then we would be forever stuck in our sinful nature. Yet now through the resurrection of Christ, and if we chose to accept his gift and offer to have him take our place for our punishment and God's judgement, in exchange we receive Christ righteousness and blessings and are saved from hell; we will be finally able to eat from the tree of Life that is in heaven. The Bible talks about this especially in Revelations 22

It's design has never been altered and it's the best easel ever created. How about them Jonathan apples! As an artist, I'm interested in the morphed and intricate shadows thrown by objects. As in Jung's Shadow side, the evil within us can be harnessed like a pair of oxen to power our light side. When there's a cool shadow on the wall in my house, I paint it there on the wall so that when it isn't lit, it's still there. The intricate woodwork of the back of a chair, the loft ladder, the arch of a doorway slung long.. When a toddler discovers their shadow, they are sometimes afraid of it or try to get away from it. I teach art to very young children. Out of the scribbling stage, they are egocentric and only draw a figure of themselves for a while. Eventually they begin to draw other people in their compositions. I congratulated a child's mother when her three-year-old drew two people in her composition for the first time. I asked the child who the second figure was, assuming it was her mother. The child was disappointed in me and said in an obvious tone, "That's my shadow."

God gave us the possibility of Satan, in that possibility Satan is God's test for us. To show our capabilities. To show the truth of God's incredible, jaw dropping majesty. That's something he made turn so wretched and defiled, can raise up from the ashes and take new light by his side. It's about our relationship with God that he can show the best he has for us, in us. That's why the Bible/Torah basically are asking you, in less words, to completely give it all up to God. The majesty comes from him, nowhere else but him. Something so incredible should be shown for all to behold; not kept under a curtain. This is why the things we do matter greatly on the existential scale. Theoretically speaking after the crucifixion we are all on borrowed time, it was bought for us to have. We are so sensitive, perhaps that's why we are still here. This is the softest reality check we'll ever get; that this is easy and the really hard stuff is after here.

Peterson is not incorrect to use sin as a starting point for thinking about these things. C.S. Lewis once penned, “..human beings, all over the earth, have this curious idea that they ought to behave in a certain way, and cannot really get rid of it. Secondly, that they do not in fact behave that way. They know the Law of Nature; they break it. These facts are the foundation of all clear thinking about ourselves and the universe we live in.”
However, I want to caution the reader to recognize what this really entails. Peterson is a smart man, and sometimes gives good insight, however a lot of the questions that were posed here are answered within scripture. It is important to listen to sound teaching from people, but wise also to compare what people say to Scripture. I constantly scrutinize my pastor 🙃 privately in my mind of course.
The apostles Paul and Peter repeatedly speak of the benefits of suffering for doing good. In Romans 5 after making an extensive argument for being justified by faith in Christ (not our works) Paul says that “we boast in the hope and glory of God. Not only so, but we also glory in our sufferings, because we know that suffering produces perseverance; perseverance, character; and character, hope. And hope does not put us to shame, because God’s love has been poured out into our hearts through the Holy Spirit, who has been given to us.
You see, at just the right time, when we were still powerless, Christ died for the ungodly. Very rarely will anyone die for a righteous person, though for a good person someone might possibly dare to die. But God demonstrates his own love for us in this: While we were still sinners, Christ died for us.”
Would we be better without suffering and sin? YES, certainly! God created the world sinless and said that it was GOOD. Are we to glory in our shame, or the fact that we are wicked? By no means! It does no good to embrace our wickedness as if it were some sort of good thing that God created; He didn’t! But we are encouraged to take heart and hold fast in our suffering, because it produces perseverance, Godly character and hope!
I would encourage everyone to be a student of the Bible and others who have been historically accepted by the Church as a whole; C.S. Lewis is fantastic with these questions. Saint Augustine is harder to read but also delves into difficult questions. And at the end of the day and before studying, ask God for guidance.
