One of the first things I noticed was the big axle tramp aka wheel hop in first gear, did think it was caused by the sticky tires. Gonna get this mod done next week. Thanks for the advice and video Jonny.
I have ordered the black series Powerflex mount. Speaking with SCC they said it’ll give the best overall improvement with only a small increase in NVH.
Dom Harding yeah there is to be honest. Even with the fast road mount there is, but it’s just less pronounced. But Jonny is right, the gear changes feel tighter, definitely no wheel hop and I am running the Revo map. Would I recommend it?? Yes, absolutely. Such a simple and cheap upgrade. But does what it’s meant to do.
Dom Harding I think like most things mate it’s personal taste. But it’s an easy mod to do and if you don’t get on with it I’m sure they’ll be plenty of takers. Definitely a must if you are looking to remap!
@@Ninja238 it will take a few days maybe weeks to settle properly one of the best mods to do wiry the quickshifter, try putting the air con on….feels like the mounts snapped
I know this is an old video but what tools are needed? I'm going to do this at a self service station so its very helpful to know what tools you need. I read somewhere its torx screws for the plastic cover but I dont know the size. Same with the mount
Hi Rob, I see Powerflex are now marketing the mount with the big yellow bush as being for 1.0L ecoboost cars, with the purple bush for the ST. Are you still running the yellow bush, or do you have any views?
Curious to how it feels to the comfort of the drive? You said you feel the vibrations more? Does that reflect in driving around too or just standstill? And what's the durability of the rear motor mount? Is it just as good as OEM? or better? Curious as i can't say ive noticed wheel hop unless that's what you mean by wheel spin which i just thought was because of the cheaper tyres i currently have on mine because that's the shoes they left the dealer with lol. Thinking of changing tyres but there's plenty of tread left but if this helps then ill get one.
James H Wheel hop is quite obvious as there is a massive bang that resonates through the cabin. Many things can cause it! The build of the Powerflex unit is far superior to the OEM one. In terms of vibration, there is a slight increase at idle but nothing when driving. Presumably because the natural vibration from the road outweighs the small increase in vibration from the mount.
Ford has certainly made it easier compared to the Mk7.5, as you don't need that stupid plate anymore from the original one. Not that the mk7.5 was difficult to do.
I've just installed this on my Fiesta 1.0L and the vibrations are pretty harsh. I have the street version as well. In neutral and first, the vibrations are loud! It improves from second gear on. No other mods. Do you have any suggestions?
Me too . Low revs and speed the vibrations and synchronisation is totally pain in the ass. Super uncomfortable. I dont know what to do ... I have to speed up like crazy from traffic lights in order not to feel that shake
I have a remapped 1.6tdci mk6 fiesta and i seem to get a lot of wheel hop, however iv heard the car has a mechanical traction control system which makes it seem like wheel hop, so im not sure if a lower mount will solve my problem 🙈🙈
keep the Vids coming man, really top quality stuff. Took delivery of my mk8 last month, such a brilliant car. Out of interest, how has the mods you have done so far effected your warranty?
Cheers mate 💪🏼 warranty is a grey area, but generally speaking you should still be able to claim for anything that has not been impacted by your modifications.
Ford actually recommend this in newer Mk7 manuals and the Mk8 manuals. used to be fully synthetic 5W30 though. I think it may to be to do with eu emissions etc because obviously 5W20 will get to an ideal lubrication/viscosity quicker than 5W30. Which for alot of people doing city driving is great and with the engine having smoother flowing easier moving parts it will lower emissions and increase MPG slightly, specially the stop start cars. Seen a few ford techies talk on this and for their newer engines it appears to be better, but obviously keep up with the regular oil change intervals.
@@James-ns6jm I think for driving in the city with mostly low RPM it can make sense. On the other hand I really doubt that the lubrication will be enough when you hoon the car with high engine and oil temps. On other engines people go at least for 5W40, as high to 10W60 (e.g. M cars on track days). Most people yet wont bother but I fail to believe that these engines will last any longer than 60k miles like that.
@@otterm00 2222 is the new one. That's to say the new one is now just a purple bush with a revised design and different material used which is supposed to be better at reducing NVH. Mitchell Dutfield Warranty is a bit of a grey area. I can’t see it causing any issues so it’s up to you if you’d like to take the risk. On PCP, you’d have to check the small print 👍🏼
@@JBCTR thanks for your reply, you videos I cant stop watching lol, looking to get new St in new year, but wondering which to go for! ST2 or ST3, can you get performance pk on either? Thanks
I've done the same mod on my Focus ST 2.5 and i can confirm that u really feel the engine more connected to the chassis, especially through the on/off of the throttle and through the gears changes. This should be give little more stress on the driveshafts couse of lack of absorbent of the engine/gearbox movement (that cause the wheel hoops during acceleration). And i also feel little more vibration on idling, but i like it... :)
A modified policy, something I need to look at.... If you don’t mind me asking who’s it with and what do you pay. I only wanted to put a Ford performance sticker on mine under the ST badge and “morethan” informed me when I tried to change it online that they couldn’t insure me with that modification, so I’ve not done anything to mine yet. Thx for replying and keep up the great work the videos are really well done...
JB CTR good :) i have the ST Line so I don’t know i need even consider changing things like this but I’ve noticed on the FB group there’s been quite a few issues with them
Everything feels a lot tighter, let's call it a placebo effect. The only time you would really notice it is when you launch and from 1 to 2nd gear. A bit silly to pay 120 pounds for something that hardly gives you a benefit for everyday driving in my opinion :-)
You can notice a massive difference all the time. Anyone who says you can't hasn't got one. Best mods I ever did to my car was short shifter and engine mount.
Have you actually driven a car with one fitted? Certainly not a placebo and I would be the first person to dismiss a lot of mods designed for track being used on the road.
Good to see Rob still get his hands dirty as I bet with everything he has on he's quite a busy man 👍
I was lucky to get some of Rob’s time 😁
