_That,_ my ramblesome friend, is a Calico M950, a pistol from the mid-80s. It is a…unique oversight by the devs to feature this gun, as it is A) discontinued by its manufacturer Calico Light Weapon Systems, and B) probably worth $2K in mint condition. RoN has an interesting habit of giving suspects and criminals _extremely_ uncommon or rare firearms for flavor, I guess?
Maybe because of the alternate reality of winning Vietnam it actually somehow became a bit more meta.
Weird decision to arm petty robbers with that. They can probably sell it and not have to rob a gas station.
I mean it could be stolen from a collector
@@mr.nobody2191 yeah and they didn't know what it is.
It's a creative choice. The suspects, as far back as the earliest version of the MLO in the PvP Alpha, have used unusual firearms.
"If its jamming like this it's probably a taurus"
Well said brother. I had a taurus, shot it every week, less than a year later I switched to Glock. Never looked back.
6:00 how sad. He just wanted to protect people and his gun jammed.
And worse, his pet dog got shot…
dog was shot, guy pulled gun, jammed got laid out by double barrel. You can see the sequence of events with the shells and bloody footprints
SHAYNE, PLEASE CHECK THE EVIDENCE LOCKER AT THE STATION AFTER EVERY MISSION!!! As you complete each mission in Commander mode you'll unlock little trinkets that will either add some atmosphere to the mission's NPCs, or some outright lore stuff you wouldn't find in missions! Just be mindful that evidence unlocks off of your rank, so from B-S you get more evidence for that mission, including some super cool lore stuff for S ranks!
This is true, I’ve been trying to S rank every level try and get as much lore from the levels as possible. I also want to mention that you still get evidence items in practice mode too. I play practice mode mainly to squad up with the OG D-Platoon members King, Swan, Prescott, and Eli. There is definitely some good lore worth mentioning in the evidence locker for sure.
You can also go into a multiplayer lobby. To my knowledge it adds everything in the evidence and unlocks the whole precinct
My favorite little trinket comes after you complete the hotel mission against the Left Behind’s secret Service op for. If you look in, you’ll find a paper from the Secret Service “Political Protection Service” (I think), with a medallion. Turns out, two members of the team who weren’t enemies were rewarded medals by the Secret Service, but after this both of them donated their medallions to D-Platoon, in thanks for saving them.
Even in the bleakness of Los Suenos, it’s nice to know that our actions earned even a little bit of praise
And everytime you look at memorabilia the game will have the cursor stuck on your game and force you to alt f4 to experience any of it.
7:35 the game's evidence locker has a date on evidence collected from each mission, most are in 2025, and the order is quite different from commander mode
oooh that's the reason why the Community College held some edufair/science fair in 2025...
They could've sold that calico and made more than what a gas station would have in their safe
Peak is back on the menu, boys!
Also, if Janey Voll's date of birth and the evidence in lockup are to be believed, much of RoN's campaign is now set between the summer of 2025 and early 2026, in regards to the timeline.
I don't know if you noitce but also, this robbery happens in February 2025, we can see this on the briefing of this mission. There is a phone photo of one of the robbers with date
8:03 Looks like a Calico M950 submachine gun.
That's exactly what it is. I was going to comment the same thing if no one else had.
Wasn't it also used as a prop gun in spaceballs because it looked super wierd
"it says used glock, but let's be honest if it's jamming like that it's probably a taurus" Fucking preach, my brother.
Just as a heads up,
You'll be able to examine evidence after your missions that'll give more context or info. It's rank based, but you'll always get one for beating the level. You'll get others for getting an A or an S rank. This one has three.
1. Mudasir's nametag
2. The teddy bear of the little girl
3. The plans for the Debanco + gas station robbery, written by Andre. It seems like he's the one that planned the robbery and brought the others with him as muscle.
Shayne please don’t shut up, about RoN! :) glad to see the series back!
You are in fact correct, it is a weapon in Star Wars with the Naboo guards using a basically unmodified version as props
The gun is a keltec calico, a 9mm carbine. To me, it looks like an inbred bizon
Calico was a thing before Kel-tec came around son.
Callico M950 to be precise, built buy Calico Light Weapons Inc.
No, it isn't. It is a Calico M950. It is made by Calico Light Weapon Systems, which is not related to Kel-tec in any way.
How did this kid even get a calico in the first place?
Yep that’s a calico
How did some methheads get their hands on so many Calico's in beyond me XDDD
My best guess, perhaps some armed gun dealer has access to rare firearms, and given how fucked Los suenos is, they have some...pretty off firearms as a result. Stuff that a lot of people wouldn't immediately recognize as being a deadly weapon. Also, near cyberpunk setting, what with how the world is falling apart, as theorized before?
In this alternate timeline, the US won the war so Calico still continues its production?
@@JayalenUS didn’t win Veitnam, Saigon was named Ho Chi Minh on the map so north Veitnam still took the capital.
@@astartesfanboy5294 RoN is set in an alternate timeline where Saigon is still Saigon.
@@Jayalen there’s a map in the police precinct through the broken wall that shows the city is still Ho Chi Minh city
7:59 As others have mentioned this gun is a Calico, Probably a 950 or Liberty III, it's a 9mm pistol (though there are rifle length versions too) that uses an unusual, and somewhat unreliable, top-mounted helical magazine.
Also 'Shit looks like something out of Star Wars...' funny story... it would seem that Star Wars agrees.
A (Lightly Modified) Calico 960 appears in Star Wars: Episode I: The Phantom Menace as the CR2 Blaster Pistol/Carbine used by the Royal Naboo Security Forces.
I`ve recently noticed that Mudasir`s face is ripped off and hanged in the break room on the board
Ain’t no way
The interesting looking building you mentioned looks a lot like one of the entrances to a government complex in real LA, there's a police and fire station and I think a library, probably nothing but the more you know ig
You know it’s a good Day when Shane uploads more Ready Or not!
YES!!! Thank you so much! Can't wait for the next video!
Lets goo, the series is back
I am loving these Ready or Not lore videos! I watched the original ones just after 1.0 came out and couldn’t wait for the revisit, so far it has not disappointed and I look forward to the rest of these covering updated lore to existing maps along with the new lore for map introduced in version 1.0! Keep up the great work! Love your stuff mate! 👍
Things that I see in this level.
The Powers That Be wanted the owner dead
The Robbers were pawns set-up to do this hit.
The TL;DR is that these PTB have such a great surveillance and control, they can manipulate the ebb & flow of the city to accomplish their goals. Even small petty crimes, can have a part in their master plans.
And none of the pawns realize they are in a game of chess.
The method is drugs and music.
Not every mission connects to the greater conspiracy story. 4U is part of THE WAR subcampaign, which is GAS, COYOTE, and METH.
Hell yeah!! Looking forward to this lore series!
That gun is a calico m950 it’s a helical mag fed 50 round 9mm pistol and pretty cheap too coming at around $800-$900
Yeah, a real weirdo piece and supposedly prone to jamming, but fun to actually see it in a game.
when it was new, which it might be in the RoN timeline, but worth far more today IRL
Omg how did i miss this. Thank you for doing all this legwork, the environments of this game feel so alive and I love going through the maps with a better understanding of the story.
Love these lore videos keep it up! 👍
So glad to see you back on Ready Or Not lore videos. Don't forget to check the evidence locker aftet S ranking a mission to get more hints
FINALLY MORE READY OR NOT LORE IFE BEEN WAITING FOR WEEKSSSS
The gun is a CLWS Calico M950 9mm pistol with a 50 round magazine.
They’re still being made, but are now called the Calico Firearms Liberty III
Fun fact that a lot of people missed about the M950 at 7:54; the weapon is most famous for being the base for the Westinghouse Plasma Rifle from Terminator 2. A lot of artwork and reproductions of the prop use the original concept art, but the screen used prop in the film is an M950 with the plastic housing above it and you can tell by the same pointy trigger guard.
Edit - it also appeared in Star Wars a long with a bunch of other 80s and 90s sci fi movies like Total Recall and Deep Rising
It’s a calico, they also used it in space balls as a blaster
If you think that M950 looks wild you should look up what the Calico Shotgun looks like
The "Satarwars "gun is a Calico M950, forgotten weapons made an excellent video on it, and it was used in a star wars movie because it looked like a space gun.
7:50 Dude ! It’s Calico! The most tragic gun in history. And it’s awesome and we love it and there is nothing wrong with it if you use it correctly. I don’t know how realistic it would be to have it on the streets , as it was discontinued since 80-s , but we still love to see it here and treat it with due respect :)
pardon my ignorance, but why is it so tragic?
Kinda wish there was evidence locker segment in the video, but still happy that this series is back.
hey shayne, do you happen to have a dedicated discord channel? or are you planning to make one later? (As a recommendation shayne, to expand the lore even more, the evidence room is the perfect place to know more small details that can clarify things, not only about the maps or some characters, but also a little more about the city, I highly recommend you to pay attention to the evidence).
Worth the wait
Babe, another ready or not lore video jus dropped
I can’t WAIT for you to cover the Port Hokan mission, absolutely insane ending for those who know what I am talking about.
7:52 that’s a Calico 9mm
Everyone waiting patiently to see how the hell shane is going to explain the harbor finale
The calico is something I did not expect to see especially when I saw the trailer
ingame, i never heard the briefings and 911 calls, but with your analysis it's worth it ;)
As a few other commenters have pointed out, the odd firearm you can't figure out is a Calico M950.
Within the lore, I can't imagine the suspects getting them through any other means than theft from a collector as they are rare and expensive.
The Calico M950 is a notoriously unreliable pistol with many accounts of owners saying it'll jam more often then it won't. The magazine is the round tube on top of the pistol, is very complicated to load properly, and mounts on a very finnicky hinge that's prone to breaking. Oh and the rear sight is also a part of the magazine so good luck retaining zero.
It's not a very good firearm, it's only saving grace and the reason most collectors want them, is because they were featured in several classic movies such as Total Recall, Robocop 2, and the pinnacle of cinema, Space Balls.
amazing video like always. it was really engaging and made me question why exactly it was foresters specifically, maybe he encountered something in the forests he wasn't meant to see? I don't know. as well I am curious about the fourth suspect, he doesn't look like a highschool student which sets him apart from the other three.
I personally have never played ready or not because my PC wouldn't be able to but watching your videos make me want to buy a new PC just to experience this shit. love your videos, and keep it up, I'm sure all the other viewers can agree, shanye, don't shut up.
Good catch on the briefing detail of Mudasir calling in late. That was deliberately placed by the devs and hints at something. I think the story will circle back to it or refer to it someday.
"What is this gun??"
Forgotten Weapons has entered the chat.
The gun reminds me of a Calico... M100 maybe? But definitely a Calico.
7:56 Keltec Calico, holds 50 rounds
Is it semi or full auto?
Waiting for the updated version of this series
Its a Calico M950.
That gun reminds me of the pipe weapons from Fallout 4, maybe things are getting so bad that desperate people are handcrafting weapons either to defend themselves, or as in the case here, commit crime.
okay so it's totally not lmfao but I think it would be interesting if on some missions we saw something like that
That cylindrical magazine?(i think) reminds me of a PP-19 Bizon but that loads from the bottom, not the top. Then again, that would mean the rear sights would be on the magazine which is just all sorts of wrong.
Honestly, considering how bad things are in Ready or Not’s reality, I wouldn’t be too surprised if that was the case. From what I’ve found it’s a bit of a yes and no answer. There is a mission where you take down a group manufacturing full-auto weapon which they use themselves to stop you but whether they sell them to civilians as well as their gang clientele is to be determined.
its a calico M950 or liberty III, its an 80s helical mag gun either having an 50 or 100 bullets in that mag.also they still sell these
When you wonder if something is off about the manager if you look at his phone turn on or off it is the same symbol on the shipping container mission on the auction laptops like he was buying a girl perhaps
Can't wait for the Coyote and 23 Megabytes a Second videos
Love the video, but I think for future lore videos, you shouldn’t play out the full audio calls or mission descriptions. I would stick to only playing relevant excerpts, as playing the whole thing kinda kills the video pacing tbh. Rest of it was great, and I’m looking forward to you redoing the videos
7:51 the gun is a Calico M950
I don’t know how I never realized Andre was on the screen in Michael’s room.
Sins of the Father, I need to know what the hell that was! I have a few dots connected but there are still a few things I cant put together.
LETS GOO
🤣 being unable to identify a calico is a vibe i wish i had.
That gun is a calico submachine gun/pistol, equipped with a 50rd helical drum magazine. It is not the best gun out there but it does look unique, so it ends up in games. (yeah I see other ppl answered but hey thought i'd give it a swing, I don't see a pinned comment anywhere so...)
It’s a Calico Liberty III pistol.
The date of the roberry is in February (2025) i dont remember the exact date, and we know this from the gallery where we can see the one phote with exact date
Please cover valley of the dolls again, there is new evidence in the mission leading to the Spider in Amos Volls room
You forgot to tell about Evidence from that mission, and they are pretty important and interesting. And if you look closely at news papers/web-sites on another maps you will see that RoN is in a 2025, not in 2023.
Great content, keep doing what you doing!
Fun fact: the Calico gun was used in Spaceballs
YES
That gun is a Calico M950
Mudasir has a degree from Watt Community College. That’s the same college from the school shooting map, don’t know if their connected but it’s a possibility
Taurus (rightfully) catching strays😂
Yo Shayne, Check the descriptions for the tattoos. One of them called the great seal is quite ominous
Forrest service.
The USIA hermit living in THE FORREST.
Coincidence? I THINK NOT!
I've seen some pretty unreliable Glocks. Usually after someone's tried modifying them, but using crap magazines or ammo will choke even a Glock. And then there was the Gen 3 (??) issue where one model wouldn't fire if you attached a light to the rail, and the old problems of the earlier guns earning a reputation for occasionally blowing up because somehow a shovel manufacturer couldn't get the right amount of chamber support in their firearm.
It looks like that Glock has a double feed, which is 99.999% a magazine problem.
Other Glock problems are the grip angle being wrong, and their insane love of putting finger grooves on grips. Finger grooves never fit anybody's hand...
assuming this takes place in fictional california those gas prices are hilariously low
Make briefings and audio files a bit louder in next episodes please
Why are all the voicelines significiantly quieter than your VO.
I think its kinda weird that sharla was 11 years old when she had her child wtf
Yay RoN lore reboot
calico!!!!!!
2:31 so wait the mom is 9 years older than her daughter... doesn't make sense.
BIax.....
If i wasn't so interested in weird guns i wouldn't have recognized the calico either 😂 that thing is wild. Like, keltec on extra crack rations kind of design😂
F for Mudasir
Shayne, stop it now.
8:20 this is one of, if not the most schizophrenic theories i've ever heard
how can you """cover the lore""" without reading jayden's journal in the evidence locker? that has the detailed written setup and plans for the robbery in the first place
I was the 50th view in the video
Also not yo critique you since I rrally do enjoy youf Ready or Not lore videos, but you really shoild include the evidence that turns up in the evidence locker after each mission in your lore breakdown related to it.
That gun is a Calico. It’s an awful firearm and literally no one bought it but thugs.
BANE???
the gun you dont know what it is...
