You need a bootable USB drive with Windows 10 on it before you start.

Here's how to install Windows 10 on a Chromebook in 2018! Installing Windows 10 on a Chromebook is actually pretty easy and only take a few minutes to prepare for.
In order to do this, you'll need a USB stick with Windows on it.
Be sure to check this website to see if YOUR Chromebook is compatible. If it is, just follow these steps and you're ready to install Windows 10 on your Chromebook!
- Turn off your device, open the back and remove the Write Protect Screw. (THIS MAY NOT APPLY TO YOUR CHROMEBOOK)
- Press Esc + Refresh + Power
- Press Ctrl + D and press Enter to enable developer mode
- Press Ctrl + D to boot Chrome OS
- Open a tab and press Ctrl + Alt + T
- Type in "shell" and press Enter.
- Paste the following into the shell and press enter
cd ~; curl -L -O coolstar.org/c... && sudo bash setup-firmware.sh
If you get stuck on screen with a rabbit and some yellow text, this is the fix for it: • HELP!! Windows 10 Wont...
Others have reported trying a different USB port has worked for them as well.
If your mouse, keyboard, etc. doesn't work, plug in an external mouse and keyboard to download the appropriate drivers from the coolstar.org website. DMing me about it isn't going to get you anywhere.

I don’t see the point of chromebooks. They are just underpowered laptops running a limited restricted ~version of android~ selection of web apps.
One word: cheap. I bought mine for around the equivalent of 20 USD.
A lot of schools including mine use them because school work programs work fine on them and schools can buy a large amount of them because they are cheap. But still I would not buy one for normal home use because a desktop pc would be better.
Cheap and easy to manage. Not everyone is technical and let's face it Windows needs done technical abilities. ChromeOS is very simple and when most people only use a web browser this a good thing.

If you’re gonna be doing this on a chrome book with 2GB RAM and 16 GB Storage space like me, I recommend you do the following for space and memory
1. Compress the drive by right clicking on local disk C and compress files and sub folders
2 after that is done, open CMD as administrator and type: Compact.exe /CompactOS:always
This will further compress the drive.
3 install all available updates after this
4. Go to %temp% and delete all files it lets you delete
After that go to c:\windows\software distribution\download and delete everything in there (this is temporary update files that you no longer need)
5. Right click local disk c, click disk cleanup, click clean up system files (this usually takes a while), tick everything there and press ok (this takes longer)
These are a few tips I have learned myself after using a chrome book with 2GB memory and 16GB drive space and using it for a whole year in school (I brought my own device)

If there's a screw involved it will already be there. Use google to see if yours has one. Also read the description of this video for all the info you should need

In future you may be able to set your Camera's Fps to match the Hz of the Chrome os Monitor to reduce or stop the flickering :)

There's an entirely different process to restoring ChromeOS on a Chromebook after you've gone through this process but I made a video about that too

You downloaded the right thing. Just run that and put your USB stick in and create the bootable USB.

In my country Chromebooks are cheap for their value, you get a slick design i5 processor, and other great hardware for the same price of a bulky i5 laptop, so this video is worth watching 😅

My goal is to have Windows on an instrument( Chromebook, tablet..) that I can use with Verizon data.
That's kind of a stupid question. People get given Chromebooks by their organisation. People get given Chromebooks by friends. People can easily buy Chromebooks everywhere. The same can't be said of a 'FreeDOS Ultrabook', exemplified by the fact that I have never heard of one of those before.

Hey you have 2 different USB drives in the video one for storing the ROM and another with the windows 10 on it can I use only one usb for this? Or will It just put the ROM back in the chrombook?
You can create a Windows bootable USB and also use the same USB to backup your ROM, but I just have a USB dedicated to ROMs for my Chromebook.

Your device should be compatible. But the part where you opted to NOT make a backup of your firmware is a BAD choice. I'd say try the process again.

You need to back up the firmware like it says to so you can revert back to stock in the future if you want.

The only thing I can think is that you removed the wrong screw. Did you put the back of the Chromebook back on? Mine won't turn on if the back isn't in place.
This would have worked perfectly but perhaps my Chromebook too old. It is an Asus, I get the following message, which makes me think I have to go into chromebook?: "Hardware write-protect enabled, cannot flash Full ROM Firmware". Help!

I have a Dell Chromebook 5190 with an Intel N3350 processor, 4GB of RAM and a 64GB Flash SSD, but I forgot my Gmail account password and after too many attempts the Chromebook locked up.

If you replace the SSD in your device, you should only have to install Windows on it. You shouldn't have to go through this whole process again as the ROM that you modified is stored on a chip on the motherboard.

Depends. If you bought it used, then you got ripped off. If you bought it new, you did okay. They go for anywhere from $135 to $200 online. Could you also make video how to restore custom firware back? It looks like i somehow managed to fail this process. Almost the sme thing happened when i tried to install galliumOS dualboot to my chromebook, but i was able to restore it back to chromeOS, but i lost some partitioned space. Do you know how to get it back?

thanks. One more thing. Do you know what went wrong? I went through with download and installing galliumOS, but when i tried to choose it with ctrl+L it just wrote missing OS, after that i could even repeat the download process. it says that download is not possible because some certifications are not secure. now im left with 23GB space on my chromebook instead full 32GB. im using acer 14 CB3-431 with EDGAR processor. I also tried with this --> bit.ly/2s6Sp4P which is specificly written for this device but no luck.. I need this to work because i need MS office for writing my college degree.

And then I would try again. Something weird happened and sometimes I have to try these things a few times before everything works.
Your Chromebook should handle all of this just fine as it's more powerful than mine.

With the shell stuff, i typed in everything correctly then pressed enter and it says that the file was not found. wat do i do??
I just downloaded the file so either you typed something wrong or your Chromebook isn't connected to the internet

Then you might have to remove the write-protect screw. You'll have to Google where it is in your Chromebook

It means you download got messed up and you need to try again. OR it could mean that you've got a write protect screw. BUT. You should read the description where I tell you NOT to use this video and watch the video I linked to in the description and the first card. The new video is more in-depth and covers things I missed in this video.

I have an HP Chromebook 11A G6 AMD 4GB 16GB 2019 Laptop.
I would like to install Windows 10 on it.
My chromebook has 16 GB of memory and the minimum system requirement is 20 GB. Could I, for example, insert a micro SD card into it and install win 10 on it?

So I used the command “sudo flashrom -wp-status and it told me WP: white protect is disabled but when I do “cd ~; curl -L -O coolstar.org/chromebook/setup-firmware.sh && sudo bash setup-firmware.sh” and then I try do use option 1 but it’s grey and it will not work but then I click U to (unlock Disabled Function)and enter then everything blue again and I chose option 1 again and then put Y for yes , click enter then it says “Hardware write-protect enabled, cannot flash Full ROM firmware.” any clue on how to fix that ? I’ve already rebooted ‘sudo bash setup-firmware.sh’
"Hardware write-protect enabled" usually indicates that there is some sort of write-protect screw on your Chromebook. I show how to remove this on an Acer C720 at 3:06 but yours might be different. I don't know all of the hardware write-protect options of any other Chromebooks since I only have the Acer C720 so *you'll* have to look up where yours is.
Hey! Because I have such bad english ad I don't understand everything on this video, I want to ask that if my computer is not on the coolstar list, will I brake my computer if I do this? My computer is ASUS C423 CPU Intel 3350. Im just asking will this lead to a catastrophe if I do this?
If your chromebook isn't listed on the coolstar.org website then it's not compatible and you shouldn't try this
