Another excellent video. This instructor describes things very well and in great detail, pointing out how things could go wrong, how to avoid it, or how to fix it to make it still work out in the end. Very valuable class. Thank you.
Thank you for this amazing tutorial. I am just learning about working with metal and this was very informative. My nephew has been asking me to make him a ring and I usually work with beads and crystals and didn't think he would like that (lol). These techniques have given me a whole new avenue to explore, and I am excited to try the twisted band. I think my nephew would like that a lot better. Thanks again. I look forward to learning more from you and Beaducation.
I found if you want a more uniform look around the edges of the ring, instead of hammering either side directly with the hammer. If you will take 2 bench blocks and sandwich them in between them then use your large rubber mallet give it a few taps flip it and do it again and you’ll have a really good nice clean uniform look unless you want that hammered look on the sides of the ring that is 😉 just a little quick and easy tip I found works for me and thought I’d share. I hope that’s ok.
Love your video ♥ I really want to have a go at making silver jewellery and this video is fantastic! Now to invest in some tools :) Thank you for sharing x
Hi great video..I am new to soldering silver rings and i have made a couple of them but have done them with solder paste do I have to use solder paste next time? I seen that you didn't.
You could make all of these rings in sterling silver the same though couldn't you? Have you chosen fine silver because it's softer and easier to work with?
Wondering why not use a bigger starting size for first ring? And curious how much smaller second ring should be to start with, so by the time you flatten the twisted wire, it doesn't get too big. Thanks??
Hi! There are many, many factors that come into play when making rings. And when you make rings with fine silver there are even more. Because the fine silver is so soft in stretches once hammered, and depending on how much you hammer the piece will determine how much is stretches. We recommend trying the technique for yourself. You'll learn how much texture you like, and therefore how much the ring will stretch. Have a great day!
+Madj Reyes sorry for the very late reply. We had a shift in employee duties that resulted in some youtube comments slipping through the cracks! No fancy attachment needed to twist wire. Just insert the ends of the wire into the chuck and clamp all the way down.
20 guage is a bit thin. We recommend 18 gauge or thicker. Here is another video on rings that might help. www.beaducation.com/online_classes/175-stacked-rings?cat=4

Something that will conduct heat and not get injured by the torch. I have even seen people use a kiln brick but it will not conduct and hold heat as well as a kiln brick or a charcoal block.
Hi Lucas! In this video we used fine silver wire. This is a pure metal so it can fuse to itself. Awesome eh? Here is a vid that show more about fine silver fusing. www.beaducation.com/online_classes/13-introduction-to-fine-silver-fusing and hey, if ya wanna learn more, and if ya haven't already, subscribe to our channel :) ruclips.net/user/beaducation
Hi Laura! Yes, you could. But you would need to solder the joints. You would probably also need to anneal the wire many times to keep it soft while working.
Angelique Jefferson Hi, you can find a list of the tools and materials used in this tutorial on Beaducation.com: www.beaducation.com/online_classes/52. Thanks!
We do not work with stainless steel so I can't give you the answer to that. I do however know that stainless steel can be high temp soldered. I believe it's a whole other process that you can do some research on:) The fusing technique is done with fine silver.
In this class Lisa fuses the wire together, this happens easily with Fine Silver. If you choose to use copper you will most likely need to solder the joins. Have fun!
In this class we show how to fuse fine silver. We haven't experimented with copper. But, give it a shot! Let us know how it turns out. Have a great day!
Ça à l'air interressant, dommage que par manque traduction je ne puisse pas profiter de cet instruction. La personne essaie de parler avec ses mains mais ça ajoute à la confusion.
Thank you for your interest. Try turning on the closed captioning option and select French in the settings. The "CC" button becomes active when the instructor is speaking. Merci pour ton intérêt. Beaducation great tutorial! If I am using sterling sterling dead soft 14 gauge wire for this project, will fusing work? Or do I need to solder it with easy solder paste?
Thanks for sharing this. Just sat at me bench and busted out some mixed metal knot rings!
Sweet!! Have fun :)
It’s the best tutorial of love knot ring I’ve watched ever!! So detailed!!🎉❤
Wow, thank you!

This was great. I appreciate your not editing out the mishaps. I love to see what we can do to fix those issues when they arise.
I love Meltzer! I've read all his books and never missed any of his TV shows! I want him to continue both of those shows!
this was one of the best tutorial's I've seen, and I own alot of them. Thank you.

loved this! very well done, and I loved seeing the metal fuse.
I love the video and the rings. I can't wait to try to make them myself.
I like the way you work 😊😍, greetings from Bali Indonesia 🙏🙏
Excellent class - thank you!! Can't wait to try it!
Kriss, you are a wonderful teacher!! GREATJOB!
Obviously, I’ll have to develop my non dominant hand. You make it look so easy. Thank-you for the Tutorial.
Love this so clear and concise thank you
Explained a lot feel understand the ring making process a lot better after watching now off to try! thankyou xx

awesome! Glad we could help :)
Very good demonstration ! Thank a lot. Wonderful !!!
Such a awesome and helpful vid. I can't wait to start making rings
Brilliant video. Learned so much. Thank you.
Love your video ♥ I really want to have a go at making silver jewellery and this video is fantastic! Now to invest in some tools :) Thank you for sharing x
how did you get the 3 pieces of wire to stay inside the drill whilst twisting the wire? ive never seen that before x
if you first twist them a bit by hand and then clamp the chuck down on that, it will hold them well.
Wonderful, informative video. Thank you for sharing!
thanks so much. completely tutorial and nice voice
Hi great video..I am new to soldering silver rings and i have made a couple of them but have done them with solder paste do I have to use solder paste next time? I seen that you didn't.
Hi Amber, No you don't have to use solder paste, that is just the preference of this teacher. You can use whatever solder and flux that you prefer.
Ok thanks. Did the teacher in this video use any solder or flux?
No, with Fusing Fine Silver Wire you don't need flux because it doesn't get fire scale and will fuse to itself without solder.
Cool ok thanks a lot!😊
You could make all of these rings in sterling silver the same though couldn't you? Have you chosen fine silver because it's softer and easier to work with?
You can use sterling and you would be soldering, with solder paste. Fine silver is for fusing (no need for solder).
I wonder if you can do the same with copper?
I havne't tired but yes likely you can. However you will have to use solder instead of fusing.
Wondering why not use a bigger starting size for first ring? And curious how much smaller second ring should be to start with, so by the time you flatten the twisted wire, it doesn't get too big. Thanks??

Love your tutorial. I've learned so much. Thank you. Question: Is it a special attachment tool on your drill to twist the 3 wires?
+Madj Reyes sorry for the very late reply. We had a shift in employee duties that resulted in some youtube comments slipping through the cracks! No fancy attachment needed to twist wire. Just insert the ends of the wire into the chuck and clamp all the way down.
I am looking to make just simple rings to start off with. Is 20 gauge a good gauge for rings ?
20 guage is a bit thin. We recommend 18 gauge or thicker. Here is another video on rings that might help.

Will gold wire fuse in the same manner

is there anything else o can usr to fuse the ring on yop of if i dont have a block
Something that will conduct heat and not get injured by the torch. I have even seen people use a kiln brick but it will not conduct and hold heat as well as a kiln brick or a charcoal block.
Sorry for the questions! Are you using dead soft wire, half-hard, etc.?
Hi! Fine Silver wire comes soft. You can find all the details on the class details page here: www.beaducation.com/online_classes/13
Good Tutorial thank you
Glad it was helpful!
Hello nice video very informative but one question you fused the jump ring with having to solder how come
Hi Lucas! In this video we used fine silver wire. This is a pure metal so it can fuse to itself. Awesome eh? Here is a vid that show more about fine silver fusing. www.beaducation.com/online_classes/13-introduction-to-fine-silver-fusing

How did you attach the 3 strands of 18 gauge to the drill?
I believe you just secure the ends in the chuck as shown in the vice. In the chuck they will be closer together.
so how you fused the fine silver , does that work on sterling silver too without flux?
No unfortunately not. Since Sterling is an allow (blend of a few metals) it will not fuse to itself like a pure metal like Fine Silver.
Shouldn't you use flux to fuse it?
Do you have a tutorial for the ring you are wearing during the first part of the tutorial?
Hi, no, sorry we don't!
Beaducation Well, we want to see that.
Lovely! Would it be possible to also make these rings in copper?
Hi Laura! Yes, you could. But you would need to solder the joints. You would probably also need to anneal the wire many times to keep it soft while working.
Beaducation Is it possible to fuse copper? I know it would get fire scale but can you just polish that off?
Laughs&Crafts copper doesn't fuse to itself because it's an alloy and not a pure metal, you would have to use solder.
Did you use solder for the knot ring?
Angelique Jefferson this video concentrates on fusing but sure, you certainly could solder it.
Hi, I'd like to know where can I find soldering paste?
Angelique Jefferson Hi, you can find a list of the tools and materials used in this tutorial on Beaducation.com: www.beaducation.com/online_classes/52. Thanks!
What kind of material is your ring mandrel?
Steel
Can you do this with stainless steel ?

what media is used to tumble wire jewelry?
You can use steel shot, with shine brite burnishing compound. We sell both on our website at www.beaducation.com. Have a great day!
Can you do this type of ring with the hand held iron
Not familiar with a soldering iron, so we couldn't tell you if it works :(
@@beaducation thank you it was a great video and class love it hope to see more videos you explain them very good love it you got a #1 fun from now on
Can you make gold rings bigger the same way as silver?
You sure can. Just remember gold is much softer so go easy :)
can this be done with copper wire?
In this class Lisa fuses the wire together, this happens easily with Fine Silver. If you choose to use copper you will most likely need to solder the joins. Have fun!
Great looking ring! Can copper be fused in this way?
In this class we show how to fuse fine silver. We haven't experimented with copper. But, give it a shot! Let us know how it turns out. Have a great day!
Thanks, I will...

How do I know when to solder a ring shut, and when to fuse it
Hi! It would depend on the material you're using. We fuse with Fine Silver when we fuse. Have a great day!
Beaducation great tutorial! If I am using sterling sterling dead soft 14 gauge wire for this project, will fusing work? Or do I need to solder it with easy solder paste?
Excelente
are these half hard or dead soft
Hi there! Actually either one will work because when you fuse the wire, it will soften it back out anyhow. Hope this helps :)
💜💜💜👍👍👍👏👏
