It just need a tweak, like unite move is not affected from psycho cut and the multiplier for skills is not as high as for base attack.
they just need to revert this change , and maybe buff the psycho range and width instead.
I really don't understand why the changed him to begin with. He was in such a good place after the Buddy Barrier nerfs, seeing high competitive play for once.
That’s what worries me as an Absol main. They shouldn’t have touched Absol at all, it’s one of those Pokémon that if you try to tweak it even just a little bit , it becomes overwhelming like we see here.
They’ve left it alone for so long they should’ve kept it that way.
I think the lifesteal on absol is a good change, since it helps absol not explode immediately after getting a takedown without being a direct durability change.
However, I don't think timi fully understood the consequences of that psycho cut change considering they wanted to buff pursuit and hopefully not turn night slash into one of the strongest moves in the whole game.

I'm really confused why they Buffed Absol instead of Zeraora.
I was hoping they would change its movesets to 5 and 7 instead of 6 and 8. And of course the unite move at lv 9.

Well clearly they can tell Absol is the better Speedster so it seems something else is going on here. Perhaps they are limit-testing Speedsters (and have been for a long time now) and Absol just so happens to be the next and final one out of the bunch.
At least, with that role's fluctuation of balance and lack of Speedsters that's the impression I get.

Lifesteal would be enough to grant more sustain early on, but what they did to my boi is ABSURD, and that equals a nerf to the ground later :(

Lifesteal isn't that big of a problem here tbh. The only thing that's ABSURD is psycho cut. So if they just give us the pre buff absol we should be happy but i have a bad feeling that to balance it just don't lower the base damage of it's moves

The Lifesteal is good imo. It needed a little survivability because it's melee and very squishy.
But the psycho cut rework is just insanely overpowered. Totally unnecessary.
Well it’s entire thing is being a glass canon and completely decimating groups but in return getting decimated so now it’s like incredibly super op
Survivability shouldn't be what an assassin archetype should aim for.
Their glass canon nature demands they hit hard and move fast to make up for their paper thin defenses/survivability
Yeah, this is insane. absol NEEDS a Nerf. I feel terrible, a lot of my friends are having to shift off of their favorite Pokémon to play Absol in ranked instead. Absol has become a MUST have. And it’s honestly sad they have to learn Absol just to be able to play in ranked and have a chance. :(
you can try playing pokemon with a lot of stuns or knockups since absol still dies very fast if you catch him, delphox tornado is a good example. Or if you play jungle and are a good gengar player its hard for absol to beat gengar's range
Uhmmm... No? Absol isn't that great to be a must have. There are still alternatives and counters. But yeah, Absol is quite overpowered now.
The devs watched Nudo fail to win the NA regionals with Absol and "had" to fix the injustice
Been maining Absol since Unite came out. Crazy to see where the mon went. Live long enough to become the villain I guess. lol
For anyone trying to counter Absol right now Slowbro is currently a fine choice. Its unite and Telekinesis can stop it in its tracks of carnage or objective stealing. Of course you'll want a teammate close by but you've also got Scald which was buffed/bugfixed, allowing you to lower its attack stat.
Another I guess is Gengar. He still gets sleeps and one shot. Although Slobro also hard counters Gengar.
I honestly love the absol buffs but it is just a bit much, I think just tweaking it a little so psycho cut doesn't proc off the unite move would balance it out. Cause absol still has the same weaknesses of being very squishy and weak to CC.

@@callum8384 just that I don't think they need to completely undo the buffs absol got or nerf it to the floor in response. It just needs some fine tuning.
Squishiness and CC doesn't even matter anymore. He shreds so quickly that he can kill you before you can get your abilities out.

I'm scared to play right now because of Absol. You can usually deal with Absol by just shredding them because they are a glass cannon, but with life steal I fear for my sanity.
As an absol player, I think life steal goes too far. Sorry!
I rely on catching players when their health is almost down. I finish fights rather than start them, and I need to be able to target you from far away so when I go in for the kill I don’t get cced and destroyed.
I have a harder time with two tanky enemies - like Machamp and Tsareena, or Blissey and Hoopa. so if you’re tanky, you can try to buddy up with another tanky person.
If you’re not, hiding in death bushes could help you a lot. If you’re a glass cannon and you hide in a death bush, I can’t aim properly with night slash against you because I can’t see you. I can use psycho cut, but a lot of these absol players are still using sucker punch so death bushes really screw with them.
If you miss with night slash, which is easy to do if you can’t see, you do no damage and you don’t get your big follow up move. Then you can do enough damage to absol to threaten it pretty badly. I will sometimes run when that happens because it’s worth not dying.
If I do try to run, and I use night slash to do it, that’s another cooldown for you to work with if you have eject button or xspeed.
Absol also suffers severely with stuns. If you time it right, and hit your stun after my first night slash, I can’t use my second night slash which is where most of my damage comes from.
Most of these absol are running attack weight, which I don’t do, because I soloQ and I can’t reliably get stacks up. So if you notice an absol stacking, make sure you stand on the goal, or if you have a stun or really good ranged moves, hide in a death bush nearby.
Needing to get stacks up can cost absol severely when it comes to leveling, and if absol is under leveled its far less of a threat.
By the same token, I have a rough time early game with ninetails, decidueye, trevenant, venosaur, sylveon, and Tsareena. All of those Pokémon can make it very hard for me to stack with an attack weight if I’m laning.
I don’t use attack weight - I use energy amp. Absol’s unite is pretty good so if you’re a ranged attacker, keep some distance from your objectives when they’re getting low on health, and if you have your unite up, use it to secure objectives if you see me coming. I often go down to other peoples unite moves.
By the same token, keep an eye on the game stats. If an absol is killing a lot of kills, save your unite and hunt it down or wait for it to come to you.
The last thing I’ll say is that I do a lot of ambushing, but if someone ambushes me first that can be rough. So for zapdos, if you hide in a death bush and wait for me to come, and then target me specifically, I might not even be able to get my unite move off - or I’ll have to waste it on one player which really sucks.

When playing as a dartrix or pika and seeing absol in your lane, it does terrify me 😭
@@miiracreates09 haha! That’s funny, because dartrix scares me. So does decidueye. You do a lot of damage fast and then I can’t get away quickly enough.
Maybe it’s decideye’s passive that screws me up, but I die a lot to dartrix.
Pikachu’s early game net thing is also something I avoid at all costs.
I recently played a game and didnt read patchnotes. There was an enemy absol in my recent game, I saw black clawmarks on my character and suddenly i didnt exist.

Honestly I think what made absol so powerful before the buffs was that the meta shifted away from bulky tanks and more for big damage dealers so now paired with absol buffs we are probably gonna get a repeat of garchomp.
I must still be playing less skilled players, because almost every match I play is bulky, and it didn’t used to be that way. It used to be that there were a lot of speedsters and attackers.
Hot take;
this patch is more of a little experiment to see how far a Speedster can be taken and find out if Defenders have what it takes to hold them back.
We got buffs for 4 Defenders this patch (1 being a bugfix for Slowbro) that focused on allowing their CC to be used more often. Defenders are some of the best counters to Speedsters.
Absol is the only one to not have been in the spotlight among the Speedsters so its only natural that its their turn. They can clearly see from the stats that Absol is the best Speedster but that doesn't matter cause they want to see what makes Speedsters tick in this game.

In one patch notes reviews the bugfix was described as Scald now hitting more than twice. I suppose that could mean its doing more damage now as well??

I was playing sylveon earlier and i can say that if you play it right, absol just dies everytime. I get around 100k dmg per match im currently veteran class

A9,Espeon,delphox also doing great.(ranged CC mons are good to shut it down) but trevanant and mamo are also good.

I feel like the main issue is how Absol's kit always worked.
Psycho Cut was "balanced" around the fact that it only worked on Basic Attacks since Absol's abilities already did plenty of damage on their own, but since you wanna get the kills as soon as possible, stopping to use basic attacks was rather inconvenient and much more inferior than Sucker Punch's damage and utility.
However, by removing its restrictions, they made them incredibly overpowered, my only solution would be making it so it doesn't work it his Unite moves, because other solutions would be either reverting this buff, making Psycho Cut not viable, or nerfing all of his abilities' main damage, which to me is a no go.
Ninetails saying they needed backup when they were just farming and ignoring drednaw was hilarious to me 😂😂
Instead of despairing about the upcoming nerf, just enjoy it while it lasts!

technically i used absol first when i didnt afford it thru weekly free pokemon licenses, it a b s o l utely chaotic until i bought it then absolutely crushed everything with pursuit (i sometimes use night slash). Glad to see my boy buffed

It's hard but still can win. Team didn't show up to 2nd dread. We were all severely lower levels. I stole dread. Team tried to score I killed 2 of them and the 3rd died. We caught up on level and than preceeded to destroy the enemy Team and win the game
I'm now waiting for them to make Zeraora's skills need to be learn at lvl13 and lvl15 and a Lucario Unite one-hit KO every enemy it hits

I feel like absol was already this good, but buffs just made more people notice him. While psycho cut +unite move is really scary for team fights, I think sucker punch is was and still is really good or even better in a lot of other situations with the added mobility and survivability.
I swear if they nerf night slash because PSYCHO CUT was op I will be so mad because I am a sucker punch gamer. they always do this. They always buff one specific move to the point of being op and then they nerf the other move because it paired well with the op thing.
The rework on Psycho cut was the right call, but now they have to tone the attack numbers down a bit
I mean this patch is very weird the Pokémon that don’t need nerf got nerf like charizard the Pokémon that don’t need buff got buff like absol or pikachu

Absol main here, I still refuse to pick up Psycho Cut. I can sense the nerf incoming for it, so I don't want to get too attached to it and have to re-learn Sucker Punch later, and besides the gap-closing and dodging of SP is still so useful, especially for a Speedster.
This game buff/nerf without logic, they nerfed charizard without fixing its unite move, they buffed pika when it was already good, they let gengar be an absolute destroyer when played decently, mr mire has been irrelevant for months, lucario blissey and hoopa are still everywhere.... I don't know what to think anymore
They should give Pursuit a wider range and increase the cooldown reduction.
It actually does feel like sometimes they just choose to make a Mega version of a Pokemon. Maybe they should just do it that way
Give the players something to have fun with for a while or something like that. Then nerf it a bit and do it again with another pokemon to keep players wanting to try out the newest OP 'mon. Could be possible, who knows. I'm gonna try out absol while it's strong, I'll say that, so it works on me

I think lifesteal is fine. Psycho cut damage proc for moves (at least night slash) could be tweaked and unite proc should probably not be a thing sadly 😄
As A player that have been wrecked too many times by buffed absol , I can confirmed this is indeed the most broken shit in the game currently
Can we get another held item? Or make shell bell useful? Probably the most useless item in the game. I unfortunately used my free 30 on rocky helmet because I was like this is a cool mechanic for crustle at the time.

Absol was already one of the stronger mons before this patch, now its discusting. If your tream has no absol while the other does good luck to you its almost an automatic loss.

That sylveon nerf 1 day after release is still to this day the most weird thing that happened in unite.
Greedent was busted for at least a month an a half after release, and plenty of gamebreaking things happened that we had to wait a while for them to fix, (like the jungle xp bug recently).
I've been dominating in solo que with absol now...going to enjoy this while it lasts lol
I bought Absol right after this patch and is currently on a 5-win streak, with 1 loss before all 5 wins ahah, feels so good.
I may be too soft on that because it's my main, but I don't think Absol is completely broken right now. When Gengar received it's resets on Dream Eater I didn't see anyone complaining about it and he still broken until now. Absol is one of the squishiest pokémons in the game, low hp, low defenses, and people used to complain about him being bad in the late game(which I always thought was bullshit) and when they decide to "fix" it, everybody starts to complain about it. I mean, speedster are pretty much hated by this game, no release, no buffs, a bunch of nerfs, I think Absol is just doing what it is meant to do, but better than ever and I'm really scared they will destroy it as they did to Zera and tired to do with Talon.

@@holydiver4988 kinda pisses me off that Gengar has basically the same stats as lucario (HP, DEF) and deals that much damage. Plus Absol is a Pokemon that relies on crit.
It's not broken, but definitely overturned. It was doing just fine b4
@@broono2985 its because gengar has no mobility so they make it balanced by having higher hp and def. Absol has infinite mobility with dash move every 4 seconds, so it needs to have lower stats. Also gengar is weak early game but absol is now just a disaster from early to late game.
I think the main problem is Defenders lack a presence in this game and they are suppose to be the main counter to Speedsters. Anyone else notice how 4 Defenders were buffed this patch? (Slowbro got bugfixed)
In my opinion, the only way to nerf Absol is reverting Psycho Cut to its original workings.
Yeah, they can tweak Psycho Cut to last less longer or decrease its effects, but that wouldn't matter since people use PC to stack the damage with Night Slash or Pursuit.
And doing anything with the crits it's not an option either, because it heavily relies on crits to burst, and the moment they change the damage or crit rates, they'll kill Absol.
I honestly think that they might be experimenting giving all level 9 pokemon some life steal. This video also shows how you deal with absol and many carry pokemon. They can't burst and life steal if you burst them first. Something I am liking about this patch is it is making pokemon feel more different. There are pokemon that do not die (trevenant, Slowbro), some who take hits and then those like Gengar and Absol where their damage is crazy, but they can't win an endurance fight.
I like everything except the psycho cut change. THat's what makes its unite so crazy with that simple simple combo.
The fact that you will never ever see sucker punch now is a testament to how it must be OP.
I held on to the Psycho Cut and Pursuit build since day one. It's awesome to see it get it's time in the limelight, but I don't think it was a necessary buff.
They will not revert any of the changes. I believe they are giving all speedsters life steal as a class thing. Psycho Cut being proc'd by Night Slash and its Unite is a QoL change that should have been there since the game release. If they nerf anything at all, they'll nerf Night Slash damage. The only other, and less likely options, are to nerf the damage on Psycho Cut or even less likely, its Unite damage. Absol was always a monster, people just shunned it because of Zeraora/Talon being much bulkier and Fluffy Tail not being letting them survive as much as Eject Button does. Other pokemon are far stronger for longer, yet people cry as soon as a normally lower tier(currently rising) pokemon gets some QoL changes. Just give it time to get countered by either getting use to its potential or having other pokemon buffed to take care of it. Nerfing a pokemon to be useless is never the right answer.
A pokemon that can take out dred in less than 5 seconds is far from just a "qol" change

absol deserves the buff, speedsters are struggling in the meta. the all-rounders get to one shot all attacker adc pokemon but no one is crying for them. now we have a counter to these tanky all rounders that do insane burst damage. they can't just bully like before, now they have to sweat when facing a potential one shot burst. absol and Gengar are counters to this new burst flip zap meta. people just don't see it yet.
The buff seems good for pursuit user.....but for night slash and unite move interactions,it's overpowered.
Pretty sure something is gonna happen with Psycho Cut's damage. Though Pursuit could likely get another buff just so it can be relevant despite the Psycho Cut nerf.
it's not just a buff that Lucario would need to get at this level, Even Release Lucario was nowhere near that level and he was hitting about 25% harder on the Espeed and 30% harder on PuP as well as having his broken shield up every 30 seconds..
it's more like another closecombat situation, the fabled "let's purposefully break a move to get an ecxuse to nerf the pokemon into the ground next patch"
Like for example if they introduced a new stat let's say Haste, which would speed up everything including all the move animation and they gave that to Lucario's bone rush which could make you spamm extreme speed twice as fast thus allowing less time for your opponents to CC you or kill you and making Lucario even harder to catch and cook

Absol is nuts I ended up getting dragonite over it before the patch now I regret that even tho I love dragonite it still gets clapped a lot especially now with this absol

There are a lot of tanky counters to absol, not sure it's overpowered really
yeah new tank buffs are crazy. snorlax and trev are chads, and i dont think you really want to dash into an xscissor crustle as absol, also i know wigglytuff hasn't been as popular as he used to, but he's really annoying for absol too. A good blissey also can also counter absol's engages
Jake, since every team has Absol now, i wish you could make video how to counterplay Absol and which pokemon is the best to do so, especially in early game.
I think pokemon unite should add a draft pick system in rank, because it's better than us having to meet absol in a row. Absol is unbalance ...

I'm almost positive that this is just another cash grab. Buff Absol to oblivion and everybody buys him, then nerf him once you get everyone's money. After the nerf, drop a new speedster - probably Jolteon - and then people spend even MORE money to test the new Pokémon. The people who don't pay attention to the patch notes won't even notice and they'll buy Jolteon AND Absol. It's pure capitalism.
I was expecting an actual Mega Absol in the game now, not just a buffed Absol.

I played my first game with Absol today. I scored 271 points, got 15 KOs, and dealt 121k damage. I used this same build, but with X-Attack.
Let's think like this.
Unite add banning system and also anime gimic in the game.
Only one of the each team member can use the gimic so choose wisely who.
The Pokémon who held the gimic must being the Pokémon who can use the gimic in the anime such as mega lucario, gigantamax duraludon,and decidueye z move.

The best thing about absol being op is that I can finally play talon again because I just fly on top of the absol and assassinate them muahahha

So the thing is that I used to main Absol for a while after the game came out and I was alright with it and had fun. I always played pursiut and psycho cut, so I never really figured out how to play night slash or how to play lane Absol. I'm not a great unite player in any way but I'm not super awful. So I wanted to try getting into Absol again since it seemed to be better (even before the patch) and I'm feeling useless, I get ripped into pieces in seconds, I always die and it's really frustrating especially since it's supposed to be op and I'm still too unskilled to play it. (I try playing it with night slash/psycho cut now btw) I'm not sure what I'm doing wrong and why I'm doing worse now, even though it maybe is because at the beginning of the game and in low elo people didn't know how to deal with absol and now they do xD Anyway, I would really like to feel comfortable playing Absol again because I love that pokemon, but I'm not sure what exactly I'm doing wrong and how to do better.
Pokemon Unite is fairly balanced but sometimes they make weirdly stupid decisions:
• Nerfed Blastoise Unite move for no reason
• Nerfed Charizard for no reason
• Buffed Absol who was already top tier meta for no reason.
This Absol needs an immediate nerf is just foolish talk. You were outdamaged by Espeon & Talon in this gameplay. If anything, remove unite from psycho cut proc, but other than that hes now in a good place. Ppl just get too used to a meta dominated by gengars, greninjas, & cinderace that god forbid theres another solid option.

as a decidueye main this absol buff is literally a nightmare
It needs the sylveon treatment, this should be nerf like yesterday if they could.
Even if Im an Absol main with 1k matches and most of them were pursuit-cut... I think this mon needs a nerf cause I've been doing insane 100k damage per game.
I am shocking you said that cause Absol hasn't been really strong for a long time. Yeah, it appears in recent competition but its overall usage is not that high. I don't see that buff has any problem with it. YOU put too many of your personal perspectives into this. Not a good one at all.

After watching you and Teeds there should definitely be a stack counter in game

Absol mains since season 1 have never complained because he’s always been a niche character now that we’re broken we’re gonna become unplayable 😭😭😂
The only reason I hate this buff is because it's probably going to get nerfed into obscurity, rest in peace to the one mon that's been my main from the start ;-;

Rank is a nightmare right now because of this patch, Absol at this state plus dragonites hyper beam combo along with blissey god you can not secure any objective its impossible. Dred spawns it instantly dies rotom spawns same thing, they need to revert the changes and remove lifesteal from absol he does not need it.
And they refuse to make garde a gud laner.. Like they gotta buff a already op pokemon and like make garde a worse laner and a worse pokemon in general if it doesn't go jungle.. So like if ralts would evolve to kirlia at lvl 4 and get the fs too at lvl 4 then i would be an excellent laner
Yeah, it's an Absolute problem. See what I did there? Yes? No? At least we got a patch with no lucario nerfs.
After that update this became THE WORST pokemon game of all time change my mind please
It's funny people are trying to abuse him, yet there solo ult on me just to kill me cause I was wrecking and killing them is funny, also the ult for drednaw solo clear just for me to steal it and kill them is hilarious
I stopped playing this game in January because It realied too much on your team mates which was pretty dumb. And so far I see that hasn't changed
why isn't machamp buffed for God sakes like he should be half tank half attacker no way he should get melted by everyone
They make Absol mega and my teammates evolve into mega stupid. Me scoring 300 and still lose.
