      @@craftedworkshop It was jarring initially as it is drastically different to your previous videos and almost made it feel like a different channel. It lends to a more conversational tone as opposed to the more scripted tone of voice overs, which might be what you're going for and I can't say I find any issues with it. It makes your content more personal, voice over creates a barrier between you and the camera (and the audience). I'll be interested to see what you do with it going forward.

    Final results look great! I really like the drawer front bevels for drawer pulls. Looks very classy.
    That water based contact cement seems like anything "green" these days. It sorta works but not nearly as well as the tried and true, non green stuff. I recently needed to give some paint brushes a good cleaning from dried up paint. The store didn't have the normal stuff I usually get so I got some "green" brush cleaner they had. Totally worthless! It didn't stink and was a pretty white color, but didn't do squat to clean brushes. Might as well have used milk. Got some of the petroleum based stinky stuff and worked perfectly as expected. :)

  • @susanbooth2341

    I have used contact cement on way too many of my builds. A majority of the times that the two surfaces wouldn’t stick together was because the surface absorbed too much of the glue and did not leave enough on the surface to react with the other layer. You get this a lot in gluing laminates. The laminate might only need one coat and the wood side could take three coats. The old contact cement that smells like death really is the best. It’s just so awful and for some reason costs more than liquid gold. Great video, can’t wait to see more. 😀

    Came out niiice 👀.
    Question: is there a reason why you chose to paint the top black vs maybe staining it with black India ink or maybe cerusing it like you've done in other past projects? I mean, it looks great but I was just wondering if maybe the stain maybe wouldn't hold up to water since it's in the bathroom.
    Also I love Govee lights. I have a few led lights around the house. The ones we installed under our kitchen cabinets look amazing and the app is perfect. I can control all 3 lights we have from it.

    • @craftedworkshop
      @craftedworkshop  2 года назад +1

      I think a stain would hold up with the right finish but that Cerused Oak with the Rubio has not held up that well on our kitchen table, a lot of spots are worn through. I figured I wanted something fairly bombproof since this area will see a lot of moisture.

    Dominos/biscuits/dowels always results in more sanding for me than if I just edge glue panels. The glue swells, moves on each side. Im done using 'alignment' guides. I just edge joint the boards properly and then glue them together.

    • @craftedworkshop
      @craftedworkshop  2 года назад

      I don't think it's the glue causing issues, that sounds like a tool problem. I barely have to sand the glue line after using Dominos.
