- I had the privilege of sitting down to talk with Phil Hill about his career as the only American born, Formula One World Drivers' Champion and someone who'd won three times at the 24 Hours of Le Mans and the 12 Hours of Sebring. Among many other accomplishments including becoming a writer for Road and Track magazine.
In addition to racing, he loved to restore antique autos and his attention to detail earned numerous prizes at major auto concours.
He caught the racing bug as a child who would use the streets of Santa Monica as his test track. Luckily he always beat the poor cops who could never catch him. But no one should hold that against them, the most skilled drivers in the world, couldn't catch Phil Hill.
He started racing Alfa Romeos and Jaguars at Pebble Beach and kept moving up as he honed his skills to become a world-class contender.

Great lnterview With One of My Heroes...Godspeed, Phil...
Phil was such a wonderful person. I worked with him in these years. I want all of you to know I was made to feel I was part of his family .his life. Cars were the passion for us but friendship and life was the main thing.

The interviewer could have paused briefly and asked " Oh, by the way what was it like to win the World Driving Championship"?

Why the hell can't videos on RUclips be tested for volume adequacy before putting them online?
Without this we'll keep getting videos produced at too low a volume.
Phil died in 2008. When was this interview recorded?
A piece of paper/plastic only dictates that you have some skills regarding driving. It does NOT say that you are a good driver.
Interviewer spends way too much time on Pebble Beach.
This interviewer is dead and no one told him. He didn't research anything, it's as if he never heard of him.
