    The most impressive aspect of this for me is Damon's speed while treating the car and engine quite gently. He gave other cars room, used remarkably smooth brake and steering inputs, changed gear slowly (not banging them in) and stayed well below the rev limit. He also used higher gears than he might have otherwise done, all giving the car a bit of sympathy. Going that fast while caring for the car like that shows skill, experience and a well-controlled ego.

      Agreed, truly amazing. To completely understand where 99.9% is and then drive at 95%. Racing in F1 and Moto GP keeps getting faster and more boring. At least Moto 3 is still exciting. 10% slower and 90% more entertaining.

    The most passionate Ferrari collectors will spend whatever it takes to get their hands on a classic model. This is proven by the astronomical figures wealthy fans have shelled out to add historic Ferraris to their collections. The 1962 Ferrari 250 GTO is no exception, and in 2018, a record fee was paid for a classic car at auction.
    A bid of $48.4 million was enough to secure the famous Ferrari for one lucky investor at an auction arranged by Sotheby's in California. The red 1962 Ferrari 250 GTO was expected to fetch anywhere between $45 million and $60 million at auction.
    While the final bid of $48.4 million is a lot, it's a little underwhelming considering the figure expected of the Ferrari. Perhaps even more impressively, a 1963 Ferrari 250 GTO was also sold in 2018, although privately, for $80 million. Every single Ferrari 250 GTO that left the factory was hand-built, which just adds to the appeal of this iconic GT.

    • @jcgabriel1569
      @jcgabriel1569 Год назад

      Well, the Cobra actually qualified faster than Hill in the GTO, so it should have the pace to run away.
      Though both the Cobra and Hill's GTO were retirements in this race. Hill would send this car into the gravel trap after accidentally downshifting from 4th to 1st (yup, you got that right, 4th to 1st). The Cobra was handed over by owner Grahame Bryant to guest driver, Sir Jack Brabham (yup, that Jack Brabham). Sadly, the left rear wheel would come off as he's exiting the pit lane.

    Now that was a proper tt Sunday race. Since the end of the 2010s the level of cars in that race just plummeted. I guess even goodwood cannot win over speculation

    • @jcgabriel1569
      @jcgabriel1569 2 года назад

      Yeah. The last time a 250 GTO raced at the Revival's RAC TT is in 2017, when Andy Newall and Frank Stippler were very quick, but sadly, Newall crashed the GTO in practice. The last Revival in which a 250 GTO raced is in 2019, when one won the Kinrara Trophy... The 330 LMB which was always a quick regular at the RAC TT is also gone...
      Still, at this year's Revival, a _250 LM_ will be racing at the TT...

      @@jcgabriel1569 it is not just about the gto. A lot of nice originals cars are gone compared to my first visit in 2010. It is turning into a cobra race as all the other vintage racing events.

    • @jcgabriel1569
      @jcgabriel1569 2 года назад

      @@TheBlackD Well, apparently, the Cobras were now at a bit of a disadvantage. The Graham Hill Trophy last Member's Meeting saw that the Cobras slowed down a bit. One of the drivers, Sam Hancock, replied to a comment explaining that FIA put out new regulations that made the Cobras use a softer anti-roll bar and reduced packing.

      @@TheBlackD And not just at the TT.
      I am disappointed that there weren't any Alfa Romeo P3s present at the Goodwood Trophy for a few years now. Last time there was any competitive driver in a P3 is at 2018 with Christian Glasel driving his car. Last time there was any P3 in the race is at 2019, only one example driven rather slowly by Charles Nearburg.

      @@jcgabriel1569 yes indeed ! But it shouldn't be a goodwood bashing because it is the same story everywhere. Le Mans classic was very disappointing this year, the mille miglia as well. It seems you only get to see the nice cars on private trackdays or hill climbs these days.
