    I recently bought, assemebled and tested the Balanceform Bike Trainer. I have to say it’s probably the best budget tire-on bike trainer on the market right now. Setup was straight forward, I did find that the instructions were a little lacking, but heck that’s why I’m here to help out.
    After setting up the bike I knew the aggressive mountain bike tire would be loud. So, I purchased a smooth tire to lower the noise levels down to a point where I could listen to music or watch a video.

    This was by far the best video demonstration for assembly/setup of the balancefrom bike trainer. It showed close up details in the video which I didn't see on any of the other videos. thank you for your help!!!

    Good to know that quick release axle is for bikes that already have one. I thought “what a pain to undo my axle every time” 😎

    Best set up video! I’m not very bicycle savvy so the instruction sheet that was included wasn’t very helpful. With your video I was able to set up super fast and properly. Thank you!

    Great video, I think any trainer that will use a roller on a tire is going to be louder than those that use a cassette. But the setup on those is a little more complicated, so it's either easy setup and loud, or more complex setup and quiet.

    Thanks, cause I'm getting one tomorrow. The sound is super loud with the knobby tire, but I think also the cardboard underneath might be a contributor to the high sound. The tire sounds like it's touching the cardboard, I'd check to see if that'll considerably lower the sound with whoever tire. Although the smoother tire is far better, but if the cardboard is touching the sound could come down to nothing.👍

    I have the super dumb version of this trainer, without the resistance adjustment cable thing. I actually found it on the street in good condition on recycling day so it's definitely worth the money and gets the job done, but still pretty noisy even with road tire slicks. You can still adjust the resistance though, just not when you're on the bike.
    I actually just upgraded to a direct drive model with electronic resistance, the Wahoo Core, which should be a massive upgrade from this. I'm looking to get more serious about training and this just wasn't good enough for me anymore, especially with the noise as we have neighbors.
    But for anyone not looking to spend too much on a trainer who wants to ride indoors several times a week during winter and where noise isn't going to be a problem, and maybe looking to get into indoor riding before committing to a much more expensive unit, it's pretty decent.

    Have a Minoura mag turbo similar design unable to fit Roscoe 8. The front bottom cross bar. There is a version with out the cross bar just two legs on front of trainer. Little less stability but more clearance. Works ok with 700cc road bike.

    • @diymountainbike

      The clearance on some trainers can be tight for 29 in. Especially if you have a larger tire

    Cool video - thanks! Just wondering, is it ok not to tighten the rollers so it doesn't touch the wheels? For me I just want to turn my bicycle into an indoor stationary bike, for some light exercises, not so much a workout so I don't really need high tension.

    • @diymountainbike
      @diymountainbike  Год назад

      It's best for 26 and 27.5 MTB tires and 700c road. A small 29 inch tire will just barely work, but I don't suggest this trainer for a 29er.

    I've been using this for my EBIKE, I had to do some modification for my axle to fit...replaced the axle cups with threaded pins .working perfectly. However it will not work on my other EBIKE because the motor wire comes in through the ends of the axle.

    • @diymountainbike
      @diymountainbike  4 месяца назад +1

      I didn't test changing the pressure. Changing the tire made a huge difference. The noise seems to be generated from the tread on the tire.

    What gear should your bike be in?

    • @diymountainbike
      @diymountainbike  Месяц назад +2

      Great question, it's up to you. The gears will affect the resistance. Higher gears make it tougher to pedal. I use the gear to set a rough resistance and the trainer knob to fine tune.🚴🚴🚴
