This video is gold, went from 3 hours of frustration to getting it dialed in straight away after this, Bravo!!!
A year or so later I need this video again, and wow! So thorough! Just perfect! So glad that it is available!
Shout out to my local bike shop for giving it their best guess as to how to set up a front derailleur. This video is exactly what I needed to fix the disaster I was sent home with, thank you.
Haha me too. Shimano went nuts with these screws. I was surprised I had the plate on the frame. My lbs is an old man in his 80s and his young grandson. I'll have to show him this video.
I AM a local bike shop, got one of these in that the customer has played with. I am finding out wtf is going on before I get my hammer and blowtorch to it. I mean allen keys of course, allen wrenches to you in the States.
Greetings from Germany. After wasting serveral hours with other tutorials, you made my day! Thanks a lot
Just wanted to say a big thank you for your amazing job, old school and you nailed it. Your experience and knowledge are incredible, and I've learned so much from you. Really appreciate you shared this video with us!!!
my bike shop didn't even do any of this, have had nothing but issues with my grx front mech, constantly catching, dropping chains, ripping through cables. Thank-you so much.
Huge help. Been having loads of trouble with my front derailleur. I didn’t know shifting this smoothly was possible. Thanks for the video! Saving it for when I’ll need to revisit.
One of the clearest, most complete, understandable how-to fideos I've ever seen. Thank You! You've saved me so much time and angst!
Great video! Thank you for taking the time to make such a helpful and easy to follow guide. There is nothing like seeing someone doing it - and your attention to detail was much appreciated.
Thank you! You have saved my sanity! I'd been following the Shimano fitting guide for this derailleur and could not make it work - 20 mins spent watching your video and it's shifting a treat. Great guide 🙏
Wow, amazing video! I bought my bike in an official Cube store. The front derailleur was a mess. I took it to a local repair shop and it wasn’t much better. Thanks to your video I could fix all problems myself 🎉
Thank you! this helped me after I stretched my derailer cable and no shops were open. Got me back on the bike! Only detailed GRX 800 detailed video I could find. Appreciate!
Your videos have helped me on so many levels. You probably hear this a lot, but thank you for taking the time to do this.
So many adjustment screws! I like that you can adjust tension on the cable with a screw. Quite easy to install
Here's thanks from another (still learning) home-mechanic.
Heard a loud snap when shifting from small to big chainring, thought my cable was broken. Shifter and outer cables looked fine which was weird, but no tension on the cable.
Seems like cable tension was slowly decreasing the past 2 years, fixed it completely with just this video.
Saved my sanity!..I've tweaked a lot of FD's in my day but I had fits with this one..Thanks..subbed
Thanks, helpful. These are a little different than the stuff I am used to from 15 years ago.
I just install my GRX 810 by following this video. Nice clear instructions I watched it a couple of times and then followed several steps in one go. Worth noting that a cable pulling tool really helps getting the cable taught, and the cable pinch bolt needs to be screwed down quite hard, as the cable slipped through after I had installed the change and was tweaking the gears - so I had to restart.
Your videos allowed me to adjust both my front and rear derailleur. My LBS couldn’t even do it. Thank you!
Super helpful, was having a complete nightmare trying to figure this out. Thanks so much.
Thank you! I've been battling for an hour with my GRX front derailleur for an hour. This helped a great deal.
This is very clear step by step video about how to get Shimano GRX front derailleur adjusted, if you have one. My derailleur was adjusted so so, it bothered me a lot and made me hating the gears in the whole. While I had to change cable I decided to adjust derailleur again with this video. Success was quaranteed!
Thanks for making life simple ;)
This was so perfect. I stared at the service manual for so long not understanding what all the shift lever positions and such meant. This made it all so simple
I have been struggling with this for so long. Thank you so much!!!
duuuuuuuuuuuude thank you so much for explaining how to install that stupid little cable clip thingy around 8:15... that thing came loose on a ride today and FOR THE LIFE OF ME I could not figure out how it should go back on! Cheers mate, thank you so much!
Hey I just wanted to say thank you very much! I am building my first bike from a frameset and also my very first 2x I was struggling till I found your Video
Thank for for the GRX810 videos! They helped so much!!
amazingly clear explanation - thanks for this!
It's an awesome video guide, and it helped me to adjust the front derailleur on my bike. I've tried to adjust the front derailleur a few days, but after I've watched this video, the adjustment took only a few minutes! Many thanks!
Videos are great and super helpful. This is my go to channel when I need to adjust derailleurs
Hi this is Mat from Germany...Thank you so much for this video. It helped me to refit my derailleur and saved my weekendride. Your the neighbour I'd like to have!!! Perfect explanation! If you lived near me, I would bring a cold beer straightaway...Kind regards!!!
Glad the video helped you out!!
Great instructional video! Thank you for posting! Love my GRX!
Very good video, saved me so many troubles from a poorly fitted groupset!
You literally saved my life. I love you guys!
Thank you very much! First time for me working with GRX 810 of my new Grizl. This was really really helpful!
Thanks. I just got mine installed and adjusted thanks to you and Sick Biker. You guys rock.
Thank you very much! Nice, practical and very clear.
Absolutely amazing video to teach me how to sort my derailleur from scratch. I’m a total newbie and this video got me sorted. So we’ll explained. A huge thank you!
Now this was a really fantastic video on how to install and adjust the derailleur! Thank you! I was alreay pretty desperate.
This was consistent with the the Shimano technical document... despite that I couldn't get my new GRX front derailleur to shift. And I have been working on bikes 30 years. Usually Shimano stuff is cake to work on.
This video helped me alot, thank you, awesome channel in general, keep it up!
Excellent video. Thanks for posting. Very clear and really helped me sort out some adjustment issues and now all is good.
Thanks, that was just the ticket. I fitted grx 600 rings to my 810 chainset for a little lower gears and had to drop the front mech a little and reset. I'vr had a lifetime of experience in bike setup with campag, suntour, shimano, simplex, blah blah. This showed me how much I didn't know about modern tech, excellent front mech tensioning, double trim settings which I've only seem on a triple before. So please to have gone with GRX and to have it's modern features so clearly explained by a pro. BTW if anyone contemplates the 600 46/30 rings on an 810 spider the anti chain jam pin on the 600 rings is longer than the 800 as yhe 600 cranks have a hollow inside face. A few seconds with a file shortens it and avoids distorting the big ring against the drive side crank.
Fantastic video, thank you! Installed and working so perfectly.
Glad it helped you with the install.
Great video very helpful my GRX front derailleur was not setup right after the lbs changed from my fsa to GRX crankset followed your instructions now it's all sorted 👍🏾
Well made. I just followed the steps and got out of a mess. Thanks.
Great video. Thanks! The cable tension adjustment is by far the single best addition to Shimano front mechs. The Ultegra 6800 was an absolute nightmare to get right. Either too much tension or not enough.
So true, i was so glad when I discoverd my canyon just had an adjustment screw in the shifting cable...
Wonderful video! Thanks for helping me fine tune my new bike’s GRX derailleurs.
Great video! Easy step by step guide to perfection
Thank you so much for this video, concise and easy to follow. Most importantly each step is spot on.👍👍👍
Super helpful. Thank you so much.
Thanks for the help!
Fantastic video! Thanks! Just subscribed.
Amazing, keep going! Best regards from Switzerland
Superb video - very clear. I'm very new to this and yours is the best video I've found! Many thanks from Canada!
Awesome and clear instructions. Thanks for a great vid
THANKS! Purchased a Trek Checkpoint ALR 5 new, front derailleur wouldn't shift up. They "fixed" it when I went in for my fitting. Still wouldn't shift to the big chain ring. Brought it to a different bike shop - same deal. This video and 20 minutes took care of it!
Great video. Thanks so much.
Great video!
Very good explaining of the screws and setup.
I've been fiddling with my GRX front of the new Grizl. Gonna try your setup method this afternoon.
Great video, thanks!
That's really clear. Thank you!
Fantastic video. Thank you very much!
Thanks! I was wondering why I couldn't get mine to work, great video
Thank you for the video very helpful. The Shimano installation manual is pretty hard to read…
Great video well done thanks
Excellent video 📸 that is chaulked full of pro level mechanic tips.
This was great thank you so much
Thanks for this!
Excellent instructions! Thank You!
Great video , thank you so much 👍
Thanks mate just doing this, so glad I watched your video
Amazing, thank you!
amazing video!
fixing all my drive train noise
Been wrestling for a while with a Badly setup GRX FD on a new Giant Revolt. After doing the steps in this video and I think most importantly getting the tension right by lining it up via the tension screw it’s working properly now.
Thanks for this excellent instructional video
Excellent. FWIW I followed this with the GRX 410 front mechanical and it was all the same.
Great video again. New sub
Your sharp explanation was able to make me understand and sort a factory bike delivered where too much noise and difficulty was coming from the derailleur. But please anyone help! ?
My brand new bike with same GRX when I am on disc No 2 front, does not change in the back with gear 1( largest in teeth sprocket or the furthest out). All other combinations are fine! I have tried with H and L before seeing the video and had no luck. All other details are great by following the steps and adjusting. Thank you
Hey you helped me resolve my chain rub issue, thanks!
Lovely clear videos. Still struggle like hell. I’m best with mechs from the 90s without trim. If I installed weekly be fine. It’s once every two years imposs remember process
Thanks, very helpfull! Actually better than the shimano documentation.
Thank you!
Excellent video. My Revolt derailleur was so far out of proper setup.
Thank you sir! 🙏
Thank you so much!!!
Great help! Cable tension - I seem to be able to have a useful trim at the top, or the bottom, but not both at the same time…
Thanks for the video. When I got my bike today, the crank arm was hitting the mech and the chain was always clicking against the derailleur
I have this on my gravel bike. Quite a lot went into adjustment apparently.
Thanks
Thanks.
Cheers!
This video helped me out a lot.
Got my Canyon Grail delivered ago and the derailleur setting was horrible.. Managed to get it a lot better thanks to your video!
Some problems remain: Being on the large chainring I can't use sprockets 1-5 (1= the largest sprocket) which seems to be wrong? I guess I should at least be able to use the sprockets 3-11 while being on the large chainring.
Did you resolve this one?
@@florindiaconeasa6049 It got a bit better after some more work but its still not perfect. I can use the sprockets 4-11 on the large chainring. if i go to sprocket 3 i can hear the chain rubbing against the derailleur.
Genius!
Thanks great detailed video. One question: When you adjust for the big chainring, will that not counterfeit the adjustment for the small chainring?
Great video! I’m having a little trouble though, the screw that’s goes through and should push onto the frame... the derailleur is placed in a position so that when the screw goes through there is no frame to push on, it’s just in mid air. This is an issue because I need to straighten the cage because the chain is rubbing the metal side...
Thank you, did you have to put a ring/spacer between the frame/bearings and the chain set?
Thank you! This literally saved me during a ride in the middle of nowhere today. I have a question, the 2mm screw that goes through the middle, that is supposed to touch the frame is nowhere near the frame in my case (Giant Revolt carbon frame). It misses it by a whole centimeter. What should I do? Maybe put in a spacer in that covers this empty space so that the screw can touch that spacer?
Is there any significance of adjusting cable tension without the chain on the chainrings? Or should I slip the chain off before adjusting?
