He knew what he was doing. You have to have some amount of awareness of your actions to plan this for weeks and disguise yourself as a woman to escape. He isn't crazy or mentally impaired; he is evil.

Officer is an example of how a properly trained officers should react. Kudos to those who trained him and to the officer for maintaining his high standard of morality in today's chaotic world.
Here's my question: "do you think it's a good idea to allow mentally ill people to "legally purchase" firearms?" Why is NO ONE addressing the elephant in the room? His uncle said he they were close but had no idea this kid was unstable. Then I find out hes been suicidal and has made violent threats. There are records of these. So you cannot rely on family, as they are oblivious to this. You must revamp the background check system. Screen out the individuals who have had 5150 I'm their background. Prohibit purchase of firearms for these individuals. Congratulations - you just stopped 90% of the mass shootings in the US and you didn't violate the second amendment for 99.9% of us responsible firearms owners.
Many years ago they made a federal database where mentally insane people are suppose to be reported by the states, to prevent them from buying a gun, but the ACLU sued to block the names being reported to the database, saying it violated their rights to privacy. I agree, they need to stop these mentally ill people from buying guns.
How do you know they are mentally ill at the time? The problem remains the reluctance to create a licensing system that takes into account mental competence to own guns. Such a thing would require regular examination and there lays the barrier to gun laws.

That style of rifle is marketed to the unstable, and nobody needs magazines that hold dozens of rounds of organ-shredding bullets. Want to hunt? Buy a normal hunting rifle. Want to protect your home? Get a pistol or a shotgun.

The police usually only know as much information as other people have provided to them. Social Media is HUGE and the police have no means to monitor EVERYTHING that’s posted. The public, in general, have to speak up when they see disturbing things online and notify authorities. The police can’t do everything. They need help from us.

With incidents happening weekly police are on high alert through the US. They are all on it because it’s happening more often even in smaller communities now & it’s happening in public for the eye of the innocent. Worst part is most of the mass shootings are aiming at children & adults in public places. This isn’t a revenge killing spree of just gang violence or drug violence or attempting to assassinate certain targets. But the targets seem to be aiming at just random places of more than 20 plus people just trying to live day to day. That’s why all police officers should be on high alert of these type of incidents occurring.

I have watched the recent videos that show people being killed by the police during Traffic Stops where the Police say ,"We feared for our lives" or" the person resisted arrest". A guy disagrees with an officer about the validity of a traffic stop and he is pulled from his car and roughed up.This young man in this shooting Killed 6 people , had a Second Weapon on his person when arrested . Yet this guy was not shot at by the Police even once. He Killed 6 people and not one officer who participated in this arrest , "Feared for their lives" GTF out of here. If there was ever a case when they should be fearful and firing at a suspect it is in an instance like this. WTF is going on? It is as if the whole system is upside down.

These type of killers should get an automatic death penalty as soon as they’re caught.
How people can still try and justify the fact that citizens should be allowed to buy and own assault rifle weapons is just beyond me. This person not only owned a dangerous weapon but PLANNED this horrible attack weeks in advance! As long as people in office either choose to ignore this issue, be neutral on the topic, or even support the ownership of assault rifles, then things will only get worse.
