It's hard to find a real parallel to what Trump was trying to do during his last four months in office, as long as you're looking at leaders in stable western democracies during the last century. It's not that hard if you look at banana republic dictatorships where the president routinely keeps the elections as his own personal box of tricks and throws his enemies into jail - but the unique thing about Trump is that he was actually elected the legit way, winning a proper election (even if his campaign methods were questionable) and then tried to steal the next election by means of a coup, after he had lost it. Quisling is no real parallel; he was never actually elected but took his chance when Hitler invaded Norway. I think maybe the closest parallel is the attempted Spanish military coup in 1981. The military had been steady supporters of Franco, the Fascist dictator who had died five years earlier, succeeded by the young king Juan Carlos. Franco had thought that Juan Carlos would continue in his vein, but instead he began a transition towards democracy. When the military stormed the parliament in early 1981 - there are famous pictures of them opening fire at senators in the main assembly hall - they thought they would get the king on their side and that he would accept the reversal, but instead he made a tv speech and firmly stood up for the new democratic order, so the coup collapsed. If he had been told in advance and had sided with the generals instead, it would have been a fairly close parallel to what Trump was trying to do, because the personal prestige of the King was essential backing for the young democracy in Spain at the time.

I live in Canada and the taking of the streets of Ottawa, and the closing of at least 3 major border crossings, by Canadians (and Americans also) showed how Trump’s childish rants, his criminal acts, and his bullying tactics, are enabling and emboldening the lower fringe of the population to act out irrationally. No thanks. One of the reasons I gave up cable and never ever regretted it was Discovery. Together with National Geographic and History the only turned out crap over ancient aliens and boring shows about truckdrivers in the north of Canada or the Himalaya's and that pawn shop stuff. They had nothing more to do with their original setup. At a certain point I was only watching a cooking channel because the rest are garbage too. Why would I pay for ad's to be delivered? I found other alternatives which are far more interesting. RUclips alone has by far more interesting stuff and with the ad blokker: no ads anymore. I've seen more on this guy; he's just another grifter.

That argument of the crowd size of trump's rallys means he couldn't lose shows the absolute ignorance of his supporters. A crowd of 20k people in a few different cities in a country of 300million+ citizens means literally nothing in terms of the percentage of votes. No part of his explanation implied that it was Antifa, he fully acknowledges that it was people that were angry about the outcome of the election. My neighbors bought a home in Colirado 5yrs ago to retire and rented it. They will retire at end of year and moved there in late March. One of them works from home due to Covid so moving to Colorado now that renter moved was perfect timing. They had all mail transfered to Colorado. Their Primary ballots in May were NOT forwarded. They got a letter asking if they moved or still wanted to Vote in CA or will vote in their new location. If they voted in CA and CO would be a CRIME! Most people honorable and won't vote in 2 locations. They declined voting in the CA primary and had not registered to vote in CO yet. It's hard to find a real parallel to what Trump was trying to do during his last four months in office, as long as you're looking at leaders in stable western democracies during the last century. It's not that hard if you look at banana republic dictatorships where the president routinely keeps the elections as his own personal box of tricks and throws his enemies into jail - but the unique thing about Trump is that he was actually elected the legit way, winning a proper election (even if his campaign methods were questionable) and then tried to steal the next election by means of a coup, after he had lost it. Quisling is no real parallel; he was never actually elected but took his chance when Hitler invaded Norway.
I think maybe the closest parallel is the attempted Spanish military coup in 1981. The military had been steady supporters of Franco, the Fascist dictator who had died five years earlier, succeeded by the young king Juan Carlos. Franco had thought that Juan Carlos would continue in his vein, but instead he began a transition towards democracy. When the military stormed the parliament in early 1981 - there are famous pictures of them opening fire at senators in the main assembly hall - they thought they would get the king on their side and that he would accept the reversal, but instead he made a tv speech and firmly stood up for the new democratic order, so the coup collapsed. If he had been told in advance and had sided with the generals instead, it would have been a fairly close parallel to what Trump was trying to do, because the personal prestige of the King was essential backing for the young democracy in Spain at the time.

I live in Canada and the taking of the streets of Ottawa, and the closing of at least 3 major border crossings, by Canadians (and Americans also) showed how Trump’s childish rants, his criminal acts, and his bullying tactics, are enabling and emboldening the lower fringe of the population to act out irrationally. And this is happening in other countries as well. He didn’t just ruin the US by intentionally causing a greater divide among its citizens. He has caused a rift around the world by his antics. No thanks. One of the reasons I gave up cable and never ever regretted it was Discovery. Together with National Geographic and History the only turned out crap over ancient aliens and boring shows about truckdrivers in the north of Canada or the Himalaya's and that pawn shop stuff. They had nothing more to do with their original setup. At a certain point I was only watching a cooking channel because the rest are garbage too. Why would I pay for ad's to be delivered? I found other alternatives which are far more interesting. RUclips alone has by far more interesting stuff and with the ad blokker: no ads anymore. I've seen more on this guy; he's just another grifter.

@@andrewpinson1268 With respect, perhaps you do not watch CNN very often, for I have seen many segments from that outlet wherein they have focus groups of Trump Republicans, and where they travel to American "red states" to interview Trump supporters, and where CNN plays up the "fairness doctrine", (sometimes dubbed "bothsidesism") to a fault, as in staging frequent exchanges between talking heads from both parties, an endeavour that usually provides heat but no light.
So perhaps you might wish to tune in more often, or at least reserve judgment till you have more information.

Trump and every Trump supporter got it from the many data experts who presented their findings at public hearings. The film maker claimed to be objective, yet during the interview revealed his bias when he said Trump in fact didn't win. It would be one thing if he had presented the science behind that claim, but of course he didn't because it doesn't exist.

There was no evidence, if there had been it would have been presented in court cases not hearings set-up by the Trump campaign where the presentations weren't questioned. Every single claim of electoral malpractice has been found to be false. There was even a pro-Trump audit in Arizona that took months and found a few more vote for Biden that had been counted.
