  • In this episode I'll show you how to use your own custom Control Rigs for animations and layered overrides in Unreal Engine. This is EPIC's way of overcoming a serious limitation of the engine and allows us to animate characters and objects in our scene, without having to hack and tweak an animation sequence directly.
I'll explain how to create control rigs for your own figures in the next episode.

Could you please tell me how to create a ControlRig using Daz character in UnrealEngine?
I can't create the bones from the shoulder to the hand.

Inside of Unreal Engine 5.4 preview they showcase a new system for creating a control rig with any character by means of simply selecting a few bones and assigning them. Then Unreal will create a complex control rig for you. This will work with your Daz characters.

@@yearight1205 I knew about the features of 5.4, but it can also be used with Daz.
It means creating a completely new bone like UE's Manny.
      You've already done it. amazing.

Sadly I've not had much luck with the 5.4 Modular Control rig features, they don't work with Genesis figures at the moment. This may change in the future, so until then you'll have to make your own control rig, or use existing ones. Guto has one for Genesis 8, I hear it works great: ruclips.net/video/MiKSB19BFuk/видео.html and David included one for Genesis 9 with the Daz to Unreal plugin, but it doesn't work well for me. Next week I'll show how to create a control rig from scratch, so you can use that principle with any Genesis figure (stay tuned for that).

@@WPguru but can't you just go into the menu under the Daz folder once you send a character from Daz to Unreal and have access to the Control Rigged version of the character? I'm new to Daz but I'm very familiar with Unreal. Sorry I'm not home but I am certain that's a feature.

      @@WPguru I also have Guto88's one for Genesis 8.
But when I import and use Dazcharacter,
I couldn't figure out how to apply the character to ControlRig.
Similarly, I created a Blueprint with controls and bones set.
For some reason, even if I set it to the offset, the Location position is off when I compile it, so I gave up.
