Kakarot was the first and only one to have the moment where 16's chip shuts off and I wonder why it took them almost 20 years to add that little detail and I always wondered why it was omitted from every game, it's the exact point where everything that was 16 effectively dies for good.
I would say the head squishing is more impactful though
@@xRostro agreed, that frame of 16 crushed head under cell foot was the last thing Gohan seen before transforming
I think it may have been too much to animate, given the old technology for the older games or maybe they felt it too brutal to include
Yes, the chip shutting down and Gohan’s tears are important details that only Kakarot got right.
But still none of them had the Red Oil or Blood like the show yet lol
The 1st Budokai was a masterpiece. As kid when this came all I did was play it over and over........ take me back!!!!
that raditz mini game and training w the fake vegeta used to make me cry of frustration
take off the nostalgia goggles you weirdo, kakarot was way better..
💀
@@AutisticCookie do you remember there being a way where you can be piccolo charging up his special beam cannon during that mini game lol
@@HAAnoteven yeah it was one of the extra what if missions or whatever right?
The music in Budokai 1 worked amazingly with that scene.
Yeah, I agree
ruclips.net/p/PLdP3nUysjr0yRjvbgWiMfwhLWnitsgaeC watch my xenoverse walkthrough as I make him grow. He looks similar to my profile pic.
THANK YOU. That entire soundtrack was godly
The soundtrack is amazing, it's unfortunate just how much of it is plagiarized.
@@65firered yea I read up on that....damn that was messed up
Gohan’s SSJ2 transformation hits different in the best way possible when his tears are included in the scene. Its not just anger that triggers his transformation, but the sorrow and realization that his pacifistic nature won’t stop Cell (i see 16’s death as a metaphor for that). That and 16 comforting him that it’s okay to let a just cause fuel his anger and let it all out, right before dying I’m front of Gohan’s eyes mixing in the pain of loss.
Exactly. The Kakarot version captured that really well.
🙌
He didn't want to become a ruthless bastard, but Cell gave him no choice. The tears are from the realization that he's going to have to stop being nice and whoop some ass.
Exactly which is why it makes no sense that the writers made Gohan less of a fighter after this moment. This was the perfect moment that was supposed to make Gohan mature and give him the realization to become the protector of earth.
@@GrubKiller436 I think the idea was that Gohan just isn’t a fighter, it’s not his thing at all. He had to be pushed to the absolute edge, literally having someone killed in front of him, to get him to go all out. It was brutal, and we haven’t seen anything like it again in the series.
Kakarot took it home with this one it truly covers the aura the cutscenes are perfect
I mean, to be fair. I'd hope so.
Wish they had got the robotic static-y voice like in Budokai and Infinite World, though
too bad the rest of the game is ass
@@anarchyintheusa4443 too bad that its not
@@Aziz.500 it's pretty mediocre; CC2 is known for doing nice-looking games, but that's about it, most of the time
Infinite world just said to hell with Cell’s perfect form voice
Yeah, they really messed up there.
@@adams3560 That seemed to be a theme with most of the early DBZ games. They'd just leave Perfect Cell with his Imperfect or Semi-Perfect voice.
That and making the Kamehameha yellow instead of blue.
This was due to the fact that in Japan, Cell only ever had 1 voice, his voice didnt change between transformations. When the games were made, there was only 1 voice file for Cell and there was nothing they could really do when it came time to dub.
@@AshVsEvilFred I see, that makes sense
Kakarot's scene was so well done, you could feel the raw power bursting out of Gohan.
Exactly
I know right Bandai Namco did a fantastic job recreating that scene. 😊😊😊😊😊
6:17 The transition from 16’s chip’s green thing to Gohan’s green eye is just amazing
one to one there with the anime actually
I miss Stephanie voicing Teen Gohan, and Kid Goku.
Gohan was 9 or 10 yrs old in that time
I dunno, with Colleen he actually sounds like a little boy.
@@TheBanishedWind exactly and more convincing just like Saffaron (OG Gohan dub)
I agree Stephanie was goated. Especially in the emotional scenes but her work on when Gohan turns ssj2 against cell has to be her peak
The reason why I don't main Teen Gohan anymore in the games :(
Kakarot and FighterZ are the only two renditions to include the tears in Gohan's eyes after he transforms, that alone makes them perfect in my eyes.
Cell: “Shut up, factory recall.”
Gohan: “Y-you’re a FACTORY RECALL! AAAAAHHHH!”
This is just more proof that Kakarot was such an absolute love letter to the fans. Bravo 🙌🏻
Damn, that Budokai 1 music hits hella hard.
True but that's because it was plagiarized..
@@mazokuwarrior Plagiarized or not, it still slaps fucking hard bro. 😂😂😂
@@mazokuwarrior Irrelevant, banger music thats more iconic than whatever tf it was even plagiarized from
@@viletoxxie Agreed.

Honestly... I much like the emotional atmosphere of Budokai 1, the combination of the music and glitchy voice 16 has just help it hugely
If they'd apply the glitchy voice and better music to the Kakarot version itd be so much better
if they applied the final flash scene from the cell saga it be playable
Lol it’s a music from the anime, 10x better than budokai 1 music which is already very good.
Nah Kakarot's music is better, you can't beat the classics, it probably doesn't mean much for Americans but for the rest of the world it's good to hear that music with that scene
The music in Kakarot gives it more of DragonBall-ish feel to it, but Android 16's glitchy voice is definitely a must-have. It really "Cells" the idea that he'll completely shutdown at any moment, but refuses to go until he's able to deliver one final message. It's even got more of an impact when he smiles right before Cell stomps on him.
@@Igneeka Oof....Don't count me in on that; I'm American and I HATE the U.S. OST for DBZ. I loved it when I was eight, but God is it needlessly loud! It's to the point where the ONLY Bruce Faulconer track I love is Number 18's theme.
I haven't seen the video, yet, but I've liked it because of the nostalgia of this scene. Thank you for uploading this!
"Yet another fighter...you could've saved."
Honestly that’s the best line… seems like it’s only used in the English dub of the anime though. Cell really twists the knife in Gohan’s heart with that line by taunting his inability to act up until that point, compared to the other generic “scrap of junk” lines he uses everywhere else. I’m gonna guess it was one of the creative liberties the localization writers took (like Goku’s I am speech) but it just highlights why I think the dub is the definitive way to watch Z
@@heroponriki8240 You say that like the Z dub isn't filled with cheesy and corny dialogue
Budokai 1 music is the best for it, Kakarot has the best scene for it.
sikeeeeee
Disagree KAKAROT uses the original music
@@DirtyDev You do have a point there. Personally though I like the budokai 1 track for it but I can see why you like the original, can’t go wrong with the OG’s
Budokai was unmatched until Kakarot came
OH budokai 1 was the best. The music gave me goosebumps
Damn dude. I forgot how good of a job they did in Kakarot. Shit gets me emotional.
Yes, it’s so well done
Por fin un buen grito de Gohan ssj2 en un juego, gracias DBZ Kakarot
creo que dragon ball z kakarot el juego es el juego definitivo de dragon ball z jajaj
DBZ Budokai was honestly a true gem. I was so bummed as they removed more and more of the scenes and put Cardboard Cut-outs in DBZ Budokai 3... The PRIME of the gameplay was there, but the story was just... watching from some pop-up book
Budokai 1’s version is flawless , love the cutscenes
It’s gives me a sonic adventure 2 vibe ✌️
I didn't thought about that, but u have reason xd
Budokai 1 definitely my favorite that music hits everytime!
People always forget:gohan says “I WILL STOP YOU” in dbfz
Kakarot has the best one so far.
Ready?
Buen video
The one in Budokai 1 has good music and it’s a decent scene. But Android 16’s head gets crushed entirely off screen. It also lacks the chip landing next to Gohan and shutting down. Also, it just sounds like Gohan is powering up like normal rather than shouting in anger when transforming.
DBZ Budokai and its soundtrack was my childhood!
I noticed some scenes had slightly less smooth movements like when Gohan was beating the cell jrs in kakarot scene, I pray for your PC/Xbox
also good video
Thank you for putting the falconer score for the kakorot one
That music In DBZB 1 is Soo good, wish they would have cooler tracks like this an the original movies too just so good
The budokai 1 scene will always be top tier
Still remember the excitement as a kid whenever I get to play SSJ2 kid gohan and Majin Vegeta!
I expected to see it get progressively better each game and quickly became disappointed remembering how uniquely great Budokai was at the time and was brought back around by the stunning Kakarot scene
Initiate world scream plus Closer to Z NICE
Budokai 1 with that OG soundtrack and voice actor holds so much emotion
3:08 Why did cell sound like he was in his imperfect form
OG gohan’s screams can not be matched
I always thought this. Kid Gohan's DBZK voice works perfectly for him as a kid, but when he becomes this Gohan during the Android Saga, the Kid Goku/DBZ Gohan voice works well for his age.
Edit: Also, what is going on with Cell's DBFZ voice? That is so weird.
Es genial lo que subes me encanta tu contenido
Daaamn Kakarot.. but also mmm that Budokai music 👌
This is how Gohan became the Cell Slayer
Burst limit is so far ahead of it’s time
Kakarot hands down the best.
Hands Down Budoki Is Still To This Day The Most Accurate Of DBZ Games.
Man og dbz and dbz Kai are both fire the music and all
16 talking like Emperor Palpatine 😂 "Give into your anger, let it flow through you".
Did you know that these games started with a free to play game on PC that was made by some college students, it was an amazing game for the time, but it got copyrighted. About a year after, give or take, is when the first official DBS fighting game came out. It wasn't even close to being better than the free to play one.
In all honesty I find both Budokai One & DBZ: Kakarot Scenes of Gohan's SSJ2 Transformation to be pretty well done. The others, not so much, as much as I love FighterZ to look like the Anime it just falls short. I for 1 did have a tough time getting use to Colleen's Voice for Young Gohan, took me out of it as well but didn't think she sounded "terrible" since it was her 1st Time voicing Gohan but of course some people will say otherwise (I, myself, also do think Stephanie's Performance was better but I think they should've kept her for Young Goku so that the 2 Characters should be easy to distinguish). Judging by Colleen's Voice for Gohan here in DBZ: Kakarot is a huge improvement than in the DB KAI run, props to her, I think what also helps is that the Music didn't play until once Gohan explodes in anger plus I love the detail on C16's Death where you see 1 of his Parts (a Microchip I'm guessing) blinking until it stops so it can transition to Gohan's Anger being 'clicked' plus the Graphics Animation was spot on for the scene. Budokai One's Scene for Gohan will always be in a special place in my heart despite "Graphically Speaking" didn't age well but the Music & C16's Glitchy Voice fits perfectly for it.
I don’t think Colleen ever really sounds “terrible” just that she doesn’t have the right voice for Gohan in general. I also think because I grew up with Stephanie as the VA for Gohan that’s kind of just going to be the voice I always try to hear whenever Young/Teen Gohan is involved. I’ve heard Colleen in other things and overall she’s a very good voice actress. To me, personally, she’ll just never be the right fit for Gohan even after all these years.
16 Was actually an android and not a cyborg, The manga tells us its self.
@@Lohfilter Oh no you're not wrong, I just use "C" to abbreviate the Android/Cyborg Characters despite me knowing he is in fact an Android unlike with C18 & C17 especially if you type it like that in both Bing & Google Search Engines they'll pop up.
@@GarciaXVLegend_04 Oh alright
I stay with Budokai from ps2 I get into a lot with the character the anger all and the epic music and I told my mother this song is incredible
Gohan's incredible!
Budokai 1 had the best backing track.
Infinite World had the best 16 voice.
Kakarot had the best scene placement.
I may be a psycho but I just love the graphics of raging blast. The environments were so nice in that game
Omg the Raging Blast one lol
It's be cool if like every section switched between each version
As bad as the graphics are on Budokai 1,it's the only one to try and have cutscenes in the gameplay rather than just text art like Budokai 2/3.
also that music Slaps
I still have a great big softspot for Burst Limit as my first Dragon Ball Z experience.
Oh god the budokai1 music are epic
I remember that budokai animation like it was yesterday
Infinity world cell sounds kinda funky
Budokai and kakarot are the only 2 that put effort into making the scene emotional
yeah im convinced, i merged the show and budokai 1 in my minds eyes. and when i see just the show im like why do i feel like it was way more epic
Man I miss Budokai 1, that game was peak Dragon Ball Z content
Kakarot's was incredible!
“You couldn’t possibly be thinking that you could beat me”
“Yes, I can”
“Big words”
Cmon Cell those are very small words man
Childhood memories!!!
That first budakai one hits so hard they did not need to do that for a videogame
man just seeing all the Bukokai 1 vs Kakarot comments makes you wonder outside of the Anime really did pull it off nicely outside of raw nostalgia
Haha xenoverse was the only one that wasn’t on the thumbnail yet it was the one with the most replays, I like to see how most people enjoy or enjoyed the game as well as I had.
Would be nice if xenoverse had kakarot character designs
WOW I forgot how lazy Raging Blast was with this.
You mean infinite world? Cuz they got perfect cell with imperfect voice lol
@@Desieaglefym Nahh I mean Raging Blast.
Yeah the voice thing was stupid in Infinite World but it still looked good. The whole scene in raging blast was lazy garbage.
You dun' goofed, Cell.
I know Xenoverse 1 isn’t the original… but when I saw that scene I got chills for the first time as a kid. I think thats my favorite because it’s not the original and a different type of take.
Cell: Hmph!
*Plays kick ball with Android 16s head*
Why did they have Dameon Clarke use his second form voice on perfect cell in infinite world? 😂
Yeah, they really messed up.
The “Gohan Explodes!!!” title is so misleading 😂. I thought Gohan would explode.
Lol that's title is bad ass
I must have seen Android 16 dying in Budokai 1 so many times and used to think that this was peak gaming animation.
Kakarot did it perfectly
Lovw how in Xenoverse he gets the 2nd Stage of Villanous infised into his SS2, just as the Trigger happened
Meanwhile in Xenoverse 2 they kept that out and went the normal way
1:02 I always thought Cell was the one who exploded xD
Budokai 1 still looks the best to me. It manages to captured the style of DBZ in video game form like no other game managed besides probably budokai 2 and 3
4:10 Ragin blast dialogue delivery is jokes
I played kaksrot and watched all the cut scenes lik I was rewatching the anime
"Mouyurusanaizo omaetachi......"
「もうゆるさないぞ おまえたち……」
1:16 Lol What on earth is with that little walk right there
Despite it being 2D-animated, you should have also included the Ultimate Tenkaichi cutscene
Raging blast definitely did it right
Edit:
oh and dbz Kakarot & fighterz
no they did it the worst no andriod 16 or anything
@@collinsokoye6352 ok crybaby thats your opinion
Raging Blast version was probably the laziest rendition of the cutscene. You don't even see 16's head getting crushed to pieces like in the anime.
?
Gohan without Stephanie Nadolny just isnt the same, it will never hit the same
Cell: stepping on Android 16’s head by the 20s time
Gohan: Aw shit, here we go again
While I thought Kakarot was an okay game the cutscenes were fucking incredible and easily wins the top mark for me for its complete faithfulness to the source material not just for this cutscene but for many.
Cell from Devil Artimus: "Why you tryin to make me look like shit"
Why does Cell’s voice in Infinte sound like semi-perfect cell 😂
I kind of like this transformation setup better than SSJ. The whole speech 16 gives just makes it more emotional.
Agreed
Dragonball final bout was the first best dbz game on PS1
