@@Callmesi yeah these windows are absolutely terrible. You’d expect with German engineering they would at least be water tight. They’re the worst design.
@@MRmtbCYMRU it slides down the track but doesn’t go round the little bend to shut to. Cleaned it all out following your video. Definately helped. Replaced the mechanism with one of those DIY kits. Having another look tomorrow. It’s almost like it’s dropped slightly making me think the top rail has expanded or something
@@Callmesi is the pin in the rail correctly? I’ve never come across this problem before. Let me know how you get on. I hope VW have recognised how awful these sliding windows are and have upgraded them in newer models.
@@MRmtbCYMRU seals all checked and cleaned. The pins and rail are ok. It’s the top of the window. The metal frame under the seal has rusted due to gradual water ingress and expanded. This has pushed the sliding window downward. I either search for a replacement slidy window or drill out rust and try and clamp / squeeze down so it will close.
@@Squats200 the could very well be. I’m not 100% on it’s actual design. I found 2 of the 4 on my can where “loose/flapping” and the others 2 where not. Who knows.
@@MRmtbCYMRU yeh there seems to be a small amount of black sort of tar like silicone on my two good ones that are holding the flap to the top bit. I rekon that's what you saw when you cleaned it out.
I have the same problem but I think that the seal is also need to be replace… but you said that the seal is replaceble can you put a link to a new one please or what kindof seal is it? thanks
@@lubomirpetrik4424 Hi, thanks for watching 🫡. If you google “vw t5 kombi side window seal” you should find them easy enough. There are lots of places that sell them. They cost around £30 give or take. I didn’t need to replace mine but in all fairness I think I should just to add that extra piece of mind. The seals start to flatten after some time adding to the possibility of water ingress. Hope it helps and all works for you 👍🏼
I had them in my van, you will not stop the leaks, search on the internet it’s a very common fault that VW should have replaced And even if you think they are ok they are leaking inside the door where you can’t see
These windows are tatt! Good video. So hard to find a good video on here for this common issue. Now mine won’t completely shut 😏

Very helpful thanks for taking the time to post this. Top man..

Its strange because the flap underneath at 13:50 is the same on mine and looks as if it's designed that way 🤔

use an old toothbrush mate, that does the job.
@@douglasgower7625 that’s a great idea for removing all the gunk and dirt 👌🏼.
The only way to stop these windows leaking is to replace them, ask anyone with them fitted in their van, they are horrendous
A total disaster,
