@@crankymcgee Oh, he’s doing JUUUUUUST fine. He’s still making movies with Troma. In fact, I’m pretty sure he’s on board as executive producer for the Toxic Avenger reboot!
I can agree with you. This is also my favorite episode because it introduce me not only to Lloyd Kaufman, but it introduce me to The Toxic Avenger. My all time favorite indie-movie.
Lloyd Kaufman, Gilbert Gottfried, and Kyle Justin are the only people who managed to not only match the nerd's energy but completely steal the show from the Nerd.
I worked with Lloyd. I played his Toxie for Return to Return of Nuke Em High screening. He was such an awesome person! His wife the comish was very nice! He signed a bunch of stuff for me. I loved Troma since I was little. That was a dream come true. I’m a filmmaker, and they say never meet your heros. That’s not always the case.
Anyone who's never seen a Troma film probably isn't going to get this. I love Troma & AVGN so this video is a classic! Lloyd Kaufman is as crazy as crazy gets, he's the best. but his weirdness can be overpowering at some times, but that's what makes him such a unique guy.
That's exactly why I looked this video up. I saw the clip in James's video about crappy controls and I was like, "Holy shit! He had Mel Brooks as a guest!"
I saw Lloyd Kaufman at Megacon today in Orlando, FL. It was awesome, he just showed up on the floor and he got a huge ovation. He had the Toxic Avenger in tow and dressed in a snazzy white tux.
Many have cited this as the worst episode, but I disagree. I think lt's actually somewhat genius. And I'll tell you why: 1. Lloyd Kaufmans humor. You either get lt or you don't lt seems. The thing is, as funny as the Nerd is, I'd be lying lf I said I didn't know what to expect. But Lloyd always manages to surprise me into laughing. 2. James Rolfes reaction to his humor. As a professional filmmaker, we know that James left these outtakes in on purpose, to show the comedic value of him not knowing how to handle Lloyds humor. And when James laughs, we laugh. 3. From a canonical standpoint, this seems to be the only episode where a guest has outdone the Nerd. So lt's interesting to see another side of the Nerd, as he is prevented from doing his usual shtique. 4. This is the only time in which the Nerd reviews a game with someone involved in the making of lt. It's as close as we can get to him shoving LJNs faces in their own shit. And the way Lloyd portrays the idiotic developer makes this fact all the more hilarious. 5. Just the whole idea of lt, being able to say, 'Hey, remember that AVGN episode with the senile, old man?'. It's like, yeah, that happened. So this isn't my least favorite episode. It is one of the hardest questions I have ever been asked, but I can say with full certainty that this isn't lt. Every AVGN episode has lts own charm & something that sets lt apart from the rest, which makes lt truly magnificient.
It remains my least favourite episode simply because Lloyd Kaufman's style of humor just doesn't resonate with me. It's entirely subjective on my part and I can fully appreciate that some people do find him funny and there's nothing wrong with that. That's the thing about the AVGN, there are so many different styles of humor from episode to episode that everyone has his or her own list of hits and misses rather than there being an objective worst episode.
I totally agree , this episode was like a gift to the fans. Im sure it was filmed in a couple of hours ( vs the usual amount of time it can take weeks. ) it was some good improv.
When Kaufman makes a joke about the Turtles's headbands and actually referrences them to the renaissance where their names originated. These jokes are high-level.

its like the nerd didnt anticipate lloyd kaufmans sense of humor and was caught a little off guard by it. it could have been even funnier if they were more in sync.
The nerd has always been very reliant on scripts and multiple takes. Kaufman is simply a spontaneous spirit and it's honestly kinda cute to see James being challegenged in his role of the main protagonist in his own video
HardToBeAPoopGod sure, its a great episode. but like i said, it could have been funnier if james had anticipated lloyds style of comedy and worked with it. it seems like james was just stepping on lloyds jokes the whole time and bringing them down a bit.
SnowHawk7 -yeah, and he puts on a persona or character just like James does his Angry Nerd persona. It's part of who they are, of course, but they're also putting on a show. I guess I meant this comment also for the ones who were commenting that they didn't like him. However, I'm glad so many people appreciate his energy and wildness for any age, let alone his! He's definitely a character, in the best sense of the word, he's definitely a memorable individual!

Caligula Did you say elf or elk? Both
its like the nerd didnt anticipate lloyd kaufmans sense of humor and was caught a little off guard by it. it could have been even funnier if they were more in sync.
The nerd has always been very reliant on scripts and multiple takes. Kaufman is simply a spontaneous spirit and it's honestly kinda cute to see James being challegenged in his role of the main protagonist in his own video
HardToBeAPoopGod
sure, its a great episode. but like i said, it could have been funnier if james had anticipated lloyds style of comedy and worked with it. it seems like james was just stepping on lloyds jokes the whole time and bringing them down a bit.
No doubts on that
I think the Nerd was playing the straight man
I like how james laughs everytime 😂
At least someone did.
I like that Lloyd Kaufman guy. My kind of guy
Then you should definitely watch his movies! I reccomend Sgt. Kabukiman NYPD or Class of Nuke em High
Poultrygeist, tromeo and Juliet, killer condoms... Masterpieces
Okay...Lloyd is clinically nuts. And a ton of fun to watch.
SnowHawk7 so are his movies
SnowHawk7 -yeah, and he puts on a persona or character just like James does his Angry Nerd persona. It's part of who they are, of course, but they're also putting on a show. I guess I meant this comment also for the ones who were commenting that they didn't like him. However, I'm glad so many people appreciate his energy and wildness for any age, let alone his! He's definitely a character, in the best sense of the word, he's definitely a memorable individual!
Kaufman, if only there were people like you who could acknowledge their mistakes and have a good laugh about it.
I love the Toxic Avenger movies
James breaking character, and trying to hold it together through these juvenile jokes is one of my favorite things in the entire series
Okay, the number one craziest episode of AVGN is 111, that was easy to remember
LMAO, Nerd makes a TMNT joke... Loyd Kaufmann thinks its about the Renaissance painter
Don't you just love cross-references?
Scripted
Souldat Souler Uh... No. Not scripted. The guy is old, and literally missed the reference.
@@Krystalmyth Considering the sort of guy he is I'd doubt it. He was trying to make a joke
@@Krystalmyth He specifically said in an interview that the cartoon version of Toxic Avenger was created because of the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles Cartoon hype. He is aware of the Turtles.
One of the best guest stars the nerds had on the show.

I love that you kept that character break in.
That old man cool wish i had a grandpa like him
Just wanted to make the same comment and somebody alredy did it.
Lloyd Kaufman!? Star of Guardians of the Galaxy!?!
And batman... I think
I don't get it. Was he in those movies?
Lloyd Kaufman is great, met him yesterday.
Sinraiser congrats
+Sinraiser you have a hell lot of luck, kid. Now your life is complete.
I love how James tries so hard not to laugh
