    I love when one of those movies comes out where you immediately buy tickets to see it again right after walking out of the theater.

    Completely agree that it was a religious experience. I legit could not speak for about 5 minutes afterwards, I was simply blown away. The acting, the visuals(THE SCALE!!!), the soundtrack. It’s all perfect. Without doubt the greatest film I’ve ever seen.

    Im so stoked for Messiah. I liked Timmy as Paul, but I loved him as Muadib, and I cant wait to see him as Kwisatz Haderach and emperor. Theyre each quite different performances and given how well he played Muadid specifically, I'm so excited for the conclusion to this trilogy.

    This is the first movie that’s ever blown my mind. I spent the rest of the night after watching it thinking about it. I’m about to go see it again. This is the first time I’ll watch a movie twice in theaters.

    Your thoughts are nearly mine exactly, I also watched Dune pt 1 a record 3 times in the movies. I walked out having a hard time judging it because it felt beyond a movie. It just felt so immersive that it was almost real. I just got out watching it a 3rd time and it really hit me emotionally this time. Beneath the absolutely dazzling screen work and brilliant story telling, there's a lot of heart in this movie.
    For me I think it's already my favorite sci-fi movie, and perhaps it could be my favorite movie of all time...

    Exhausting is a good description for the movie. It's great, I agree. Though I also thought there were at least three different natural ending points where I thought the movie would end.

    Paul is not a “hero”. He’s the protagonist, yes. Big difference.

    Totally surprised that this was made at such a time in our history. The allegory is uncannily timed . I am assuming Dune Messiah will follow and that may counterbalance the euphoric adoption of fanaticism. I cant wait.

    This was the LOUDEST movie I've seen. And it wasn't free from "girl boss" nonsense by absolutely destroying Chani's character & ruining the end of the book. As much as The Shining is my favorite movie, Chani is this movies Wendy.
    It's a movie for movie-goers, not for the book readers.

    • @jef2247
      @jef2247 27 дней назад +2

      It’s definitely different than the book, but as someone who loved the book and movies I think they made a good choice changing Chani’s character. One of the issues with the book is that audiences didn’t come out of the story seeing Paul’s rise to power as a cautionary tale as the author intended. Rather they lauded it. So by making one of the closest characters to Paul openly show disapproval, anger, and dismay at Paul’s actions the movie helped to indicate to audiences that his rise to power might not be as good of a thing as they assumed. That’s my take at least!

      @Lordoftheyeet 24 дня назад +4

      Honestly I don't think chani came off as a girl boss but rather she felt more like the only sensible person in a room full of people who have become radicalized zealots and it made sense since she was intimate with paul and she knows him better then anyone and the paul she fell in love with and the one who started committing war crimes are not the same person but she's the only one willing to acknowledge that so I feel like her character was refreshing since she was essentially playing devils advocate by showing us that paul really has changed drastically

      @@jef2247 It was Stilgar's role to play, as it was in the book. You'd find it interesting to read it from Denis himself. Google 'Denis Dune Feminism', and you'll see. Chani's character was fine the way it was.
      "History will call us wives" > more b.s. side-eye.

      @@Lordoftheyeet I made this point to the first commenter: This was Stilgar's role, as it was in the book. They made him a stupid puppy dog, comic relief in the movie. There was not one joke/piece of humor in the book, and I appreciated it for that. It was a serious book. And again, I'll direct you to an eye-opening article, Google search 'Denis Dune feminism' & you'll see what I'm talking about.

    I wasn't happy with the pacing. The end, with the exception of the well made duel between Paul and Feyt, felt rushed and anticlimactic.
    Other parts, for example the stuff with the nukes, the zero chemistry romance stuff and the worm-milking scene felt unnecessarily long.

      @@nomindseye Try to make a point if you disagree.
      It is quite ridiculous to disagree though, because I don't see how anyone could seriously argue that the big battle at the end is not super anticlimactic.
      All we see is a mountain blowing up and then a few Sardaukar running away from a sand worm.
      As goofy as the old Dune movie from the 80s is, the big battle scene at the end was way more spectacular.

    1st >2 hrs are meh & awful barring Geidi Prime. Homogenous skinhead Harkonnen's vs multiracial Fremen is an allegory for colonial white supremacy. How did the Fremen end up like that after 1000s of years? And Chani's character was bullcrap + Zendaya was awful. IT'S A DISNEY TFA! And it's about as epic as Ridley Scott's Robin Hood!
