Someone on Reddit pointed out that because I found this water bottle around the same time Nalgene switched to BPA Free, this water bottle probably contains BPA and I'm going to die. I'll miss you Big Red.
Probably safe enough once the scratches are only on the outside.
On Nalgene's website, under Specs, it tells you both the advertised capacity and the actual capacity. Multiples of 16 are good for advertising when it comes to water bottles.
Website says actual capacity is 38oz. That's what my industry transforming 'experiment' found too. Thanks!

Yes you can. Hot liquids are not recommended because the plastic can get hot, but the bottle won't melt. Carbonated drinks will not work because of the pressure from the carbonation. Any other type of liquid should work. Eastman Tritan is a durable plastic and can withstand most liquids.
