That blue thing is a hydrapak watergate splash guard. I use mine turned around.. and drink from the little holes. Works much better for me.

Huh. Cool. I LOVE my narrow mouth Nalgene. Game changer for me over the wide mouth. I only drink water from it so I don't really need a wife mouth for cleaning.

I tried the otf but I do prefer the hydrapak it’s so much more smooth with those air holes on the other end
