One thing you didn't take into account is the stress that the previous drops put on the bottle before it broke. You should try dropping one from the 3rd floor that hadn't been previously dropped. You should also try different levels of water, like 3/4 and 1/2 full.
My thoughts EXACTLY.
+genki831 We actually thought of that but only bought one bottle.... It would be interesting to do it again with a fresh bottle for each drop!
Problem with that is are you going to drop a bottle only once as well as being a hardened plastic it's prone to breakage especially depending where it hits. Landing on it's side is what allowed it to survive as long as it did.
Ted Willis easy to say you thought of that but either way your video/test is flawed!
@@TedWillisTube i dare you (yes i do😾🔪) to do this again. Hundreds of people claim that it breaks first time dropping from hip-height. They made a name out of their brand and now they are selling cheap shit
I've had them for years, dropped them way too many time to count. Then one day one of mine rolled off the top of my car and broke. Hit up Nalgene and they sent me a free replacement. So even if it does finally give out they will stand behind their product. Good stuff.
Dang! That's awesome and good to know
That's nice unless you are out on a long hike in the middle of nowhere or in a survival situation.
I dropped one of these down a 700-foot cliff. Not a 90 degree, probably about 70 where I dropped it with the last 300 feet being 50 degrees incline. It hit some crazy speed and tumbled like crazy, super scuffed up, but did not crack. It was found at the bottom about 100ft in the woods leading up to the climb
Owned HDPE Nalgene Bottles for years, since I was in Cub Scouts. I still have every single one of them, and they are still going Strong! The caps may need to be replaced over the years, because the strap gives way, but the bottle stays strong to its heritage.
The bottle has been through everything, including international travel.
Mine was ran over by a forklift it sounded like a gun shot and sent plastic shrapnel flying it was awesome
Nalgene, the Nokia 3310 of water bottles..
You drop a single bottle multiple times and you call this science?
Who called it science? Who?
+Matthew Cordery haha yeah... We weren't very scientific about it. If we do it again, we will have to bust out the spreadsheets and extra bottles.
BythMusters would be proud. But that one guy has to grow a thicker mustache.
Will a person only drop the same bottle once in their life? The only issue is dropping it on the side spreads the impact over a greater area allowing for higher drops. Drop it on the top or bottom and the bottle fails faster.
+Diabetic Gamer I agree about the mustache lol. Tyler is working on it
The new Tritan plastic really doesn't compare to the old Polycarbonate (Lexan) ones -- minus the BPA.
You should have used fresh bottles per drop
Many have fallen down mountains an survived
In boot camp, this guy across the way from me dropped his backpack with his nalgene in it and some how it hit the deck just right and cracked and then soaked his backpack and leaked everywhere. It was only about a 4ft drop and it was cushioned by the backpack. Since then I've had numerous nalgenes that have been tough as nails.
I have dropped mine multiple times and it's all scuffed up but still intact. My previous one broke because I wasn't aware you aren't supposed to put them in the freezer. Whoops. Lesson learned, I guess. 😏
I think they use to be stronger in the BPA days, as I've even driven over my old one my accident and it didn't break. I think if it wasn't full of water it may have done better, not sure.
Please,What was the BPA, that they have now removed from the Nalgene bottles?
@@greekveteran2715 Bungioidal Peranial Anooslufate. They found out it causes cancer so it has been removed from most food/drink safe plastics.
@@beanboy5315 you mean Bisphenol-A ? Lol
Weird....dropped mine off a set of bleachers which were3+ stories and it’s sitting next to me rn
i want to see the "return " video
Military Issued, I’m serious!😂
I had oen fall from my pack 15 feet onto rocks and rendered it useless
Just as long as u return it within one year!! 😁👍👍
Due to not dropping from the top, I felt you deserved a subscribe
Bruh I had mine fall from mid thigh to knee hight about half full and the whole bottom blown out and the companys costumer service wouldn't even respond to me...(refactor tactical btw)
Are you telling me that you contacted customer service over a plastic water bottle?😂
They're definitely not gonna refund you your money if they see this lol
Drop tests? Everyone seems to be hell bent on chucking nalgenes off things? If it survives all good if it doesn't well get another? They are nice and cheap ! I believe the hdpe ones would fair better if someone is that clumsy!
Dropped mine off the top of a 6-7 foot ladder at work to concrete and the thing shattered. Still use them because the plastic is better. But they’re not indestructible.
dropped my nalgene from 4 meters while climbing, backpack took most of the damage and it landed on gravel, bottle slid out on the gravel and the low quality loop broke, definitly not indestructible
Their old modo was "one inch of this is bullet proof"
I dropped a silo from waist height and it got a 3 inch hole in it
first drop, it got leaked. that's failed already. You can't really call it a water bottle when it's leaking is it?
Today mine felt from my bag to the ground on the carpet and it brakes 😤
😀👍
Thanks to this video, Reid no longer has a return policy 🤪
Thank you
If you are a typical over 7m tall guy with shitty grip then indeed Nalgene bottles might be a bit disappointing.
I've seen one break from about 4 feet
I had 2 1,5l of them, both broke on a fall from approximately 0,7 m fall on concrete. I am not buying another one, hope the warranty covers it..
Yee, but they are pretty durable
if it was empty I bet it wouldn't break.
mine broke ;(
Naturally
I've seen them break from 12 feet.
Grizzly Country and I have seen them dropped, and have dropped them myself from the top of a parking garage..6 levels, and it was fine.... Just saying.
I dropped mine down the stairs and it cracked
Just came here to enjoy the pure destruction.
That was disappointing... why did they quit making them from lexan??? My fuckin one from the 90s could take cars running it over and using it as a damn football.
Try without water
BpaFree makes it weaker
lmao
freezing will break them
Dickydog is a bad word
my mom broke her bottle...
You could get her a new one for Christmas!
she bought 2 bigger ones after that. we have 2 64oz, 4 32oz and 2 16oz.
sounds like you have plenty! hahaha
