I have the q3 as apart of my EDC & I love it. The pliers are the only issue that I have with the handles sliding back and blocking fully closing the pliers.
Great review. Glad you are loving that tool because i'm a newbie SOG lover, just started edc'ing a SoG powerlock and it is up to some jobs in my mechanic work that other high-end multitools simply can't do. That Baton is ingenious. I will try to get one eventually. Keep up the good work!
Thank you for the review. I appreciate the details and view of each tool. All of these review experts need to take what then need and leave the rest. I appreciate a real review vs a scripted one.
I put this tool in my ladies purse, she said she mistook it for her little friend or something? Whatever that means. She said it's the best multitool ever.
StratosGear don't apologize to it man theres honestly no reason for them to say anything about it to you in the first place if they dont like your work its not for them.
Thanks for this video! When I first learned about the Q3 all I could find was stuff for the other models! I'm rocking a Wingman but this might be a better fit, I'll find out soon!
I love it, but like my other SOG multitool, no scissors? I use the scissors on my mini tools so much. I would also love to see a dedicated mariner's spike, another shockingly useful tool for poking holes in things.
Maybe it's not as wide as my Leatherman Wave but it's very long and thicker! Also the tools in the Leatherman Wave are bigger and more functional and u can open the knife with 1 hand!
It's not thicker. The Q3 is 5/8" thick. The Wave is 1/8" thicker and also 2 to 2.5 ounces heavier depending on model. Some of us just don't need all the silly stuff like a wood saw. I had a saw on my old Victorinox knife and never used it even once in 15 years. On the other hand, I used the chisel on this to completely clean a sticker off a window within a week of getting it. You can open your blade with one hand, but most of the other tools are more difficult to get to as you have to open the handles first. Every tool has tradeoffs, so stop trying to make yours sound perfect.
Tip: dont talk to a blank screen for many minutes, I almost turned off because it was so boring. Pop it open at once and take the stories after you have told about the tool.
I agree with the knife statement you made with one exception the leather man mut and mut eod tools the knife on there is extremely robust, and has served well in several camping trips as I primary (when I was testing it) though I'd recommend always having a real knife too
For some reason, I was under the impression that it could be used as a weapon to bonk somebody on the head with? I guess the word "baton," gave me that idea?
I think I'll stick with my old Leatherman, about 30 years old, still works great. It doesn't have SOG on it, so it is not "Tommy Tactical" friendly, it just WORKS!
I can’t stand having a wallet or anything in my rear pockets. It feels awkward when walking and makes sitting down impossible! I wear a belt, I’ve had my Leatherman Wave in its pouch on my belt for 14 years now.
yeah it looks different, ive had a Gerber for years that ive used for everything and never had any issues with it. I saw this one earlier today and it caught my eye cause it was different so i came to see some reviews on it and i was sold lol
Honestly 3 and 4 are the only ones I would buy but even now those prices are high, but are they worth it. Did you ever buy the other ones and how do you like them today.
I like the design elements used in this but those tools look really very cheap, the chisel looks already to have edge damage from such light work, Also, shouldn't the sharp edge of the chisel be on the reverse side so you are actually cutting away wood as opposed to digging in?...
Thanks for a great video on a fascinating multitool. But on a completely different topic, what type of wood is that in the background? It's quite beautiful
would you be willing to do a disassembly video to see if there is any way to adjust the grips so they don't slide forward when using the pliers? EDIT: I just ordered one. Gonna see if I can do anything about the sliding grips. I also noticed that the one in your video does not have grooves in the steel section of the plier handle (near the pivot), as shown in the amazon product. I wonder if the design was revised?
I'll stay with my 32 year old Victorinox Swiss Champion. Besides, no muilti-tool will spend any significant amount of time in my pocket with out every thing that this SOG has, AND a good saw, scissors and tweezers !
as soon as you really put pressure on a nut or bolt with the jaws of the plier, the handles slide up. It's almost impossible to get a good grip with those jaws.
incorporate a bottle opener that doubles as a can opener on the pull out feature. not just the bottle opener that it has one that works something like a p 38 and lower the price and I d say you have a decent knife.just my opinion . Also if I may say I always hear about the weight of knives and such the like these days. if a knife doesn't have weight to it . it's most likely not worth having:)
Would of been kewl if it could lock in closed position so that it also could be used as a self defence baton, and not just get the name of a baton due to its shape.
Still like the skeletool Cx more. The knife blade to me is the most important, pliers number two. At 80 bucks I expect a higher quality blade steel and grind.
I've had a leatherman skelatool for the last 2 years. Best multi-tool I've ever had. Everything ya need. No useless eyeglass tool etc. Better price, better quality, and more useful. Also I agree don't talk to a blank screen. Cheers.
This could be so much better. The name is baton; but it can't really be used as a baton. If it had a lock to lock the two halves together - imagine that. Also, you could pull that little blade out, lock the baton back up, and you'd have a knife over 6" long.
Nice work on the video but the product is gimmicky at this price. Maybe a third of the price it would be more appealing. There are a lot better options out there at this price range.
Interesting design but seems janky with the extra plastic(?) when opened. The only thing i like about it is the chisel but it should be on the opposite side.

I used to be a huge SOG guy, but the quality has dropped, and they're branding is RIDICULOUS lol. On my aegis mini the blade says SOG, the pocket clip is skeletonized to say SOG, and even the textuiring on the handles are tiny little SOG logos hahahaha. SOG SOG SOG SOG SOG like wtf lol
The chisel is on the wrong side.... having it that side makes the angle of use the maximum, when you want it minimum.... Big oversight there imo, makes me lose trust in the design when I see things like that.
A multitool in your pocket just sounds like it be bulky and take up space, especially if that was in my back pocket next to my wallet and keys, dude... do you sit lopsided?
Please jump to 1:20 to skip past me talking and get to the tool
or jump to 2:20 :-] But I do thank you for your review and the time you took to make a video and upload it. Also, your table is quite beautiful.
8:00 Thanks for the in depth tutorial on how to pick pocket you. (You might wanna be a bit more careful with what you say/do)
Yeah please edit next time
Will do
You talk too much.
Do yourselves a favor and skip to 2:30
you're welcome

1:20 of staring at an empty table. Bravo. You have nailed video production.
I bought one from Canadian Preppers store. I use it often and it comes in handy fishing. Good tool. Period.
Thank you for the review. I appreciate the details and view of each tool. All of these review experts need to take what then need and leave the rest. I appreciate a real review vs a scripted one.
Thank you for the review and also for adding the Q4 to the description.
Slick movement for the pliers. Looks good overall.
I put this tool in my ladies purse, she said she mistook it for her little friend or something? Whatever that means. She said it's the best multitool ever.
Big Injun might wanna wash it off now bud
Big Injun You know what that means.
🤣🤣🤣🤣i know what she's talking about 🤭
Really, your a tool in multiple ways!
@@richarddeanandresen I am the tool
Please do a follow up video. Interested in the lasting qualities of this multi tool
Pretty slick. Had to watch just to confirm whether it did or didn't have pliers, can't be a multi without them
I have never ordered something from amazon so quickly in my life. I am so excited to get this thing in my hands.
Dude, that chisel blade you showed looked hammered after one use.
I'm pretty sure no one wants to spend the first 1.25 of a video staring at your wooden table.
Caleb Able Apparently you did
Caleb Able why you crying man you probably look at tables and walls for longer then his table daily
+Will Garcia sorry
StratosGear don't apologize to it man theres honestly no reason for them to say anything about it to you in the first place if they dont like your work its not for them.
BL Zero nothing wrong with constructive criticism. I'm seeing the same response in many of the comments. Still a good review though.
Never needed a multi tool. So sad because I like the idea and specially this design.
There are different models one has scissors
Aside from the intro, good review. Keep it up!

Will do, sorry
Was a nice review tho, just the presentation that was a bit off. :D
+H Frendal yeah I need to work on my rambling haha, or at least edit more out
Absolutely! I almost click back outta here.
Great review tho.
I agree with the knife statement you made with one exception the leather man mut and mut eod tools the knife on there is extremely robust, and has served well in several camping trips as I primary (when I was testing it) though I'd recommend always having a real knife too
i bet thats the most satisfying thing ever
For some reason, I was under the impression that it could be used as a weapon to bonk somebody on the head with?
I guess the word "baton," gave me that idea?
Idk but you could definitely shank someone with the eye glass screwdriver
I think that could work.
Me too bud. The name is definitely misleading.

@@bjjthaiboxing Cheers my brother

Can you open the pliers on handed. That would look badass
Nvm I didn't see the whole video
Great feature of the thing. Appreciate your detailed take
Excellent table review bro...
I can’t stand having a wallet or anything in my rear pockets. It feels awkward when walking and makes sitting down impossible!
I wear a belt, I’ve had my Leatherman Wave in its pouch on my belt for 14 years now.
Threw out my back. NEVER carried anything in those backpockets ever again.
just ordered this one, cant wait till it comes in
+Marcos Jimenez you will love it, it is so sweet and slim, such a cool idea and design
yeah it looks different, ive had a Gerber for years that ive used for everything and never had any issues with it. I saw this one earlier today and it caught my eye cause it was different so i came to see some reviews on it and i was sold lol
+Marcos Jimenez same here lol
Honestly 3 and 4 are the only ones I would buy but even now those prices are high, but are they worth it. Did you ever buy the other ones and how do you like them today.
Love this review. And it nice to finally get a new style of multitool
I’ve done a lot of testing on this I’ve never been able to find one that the pliers didn’t work without the handles sliding forward
SOG Baton Q2.
That chisel is beat to crap after using it on automotive light lenses?
would you be willing to do a disassembly video to see if there is any way to adjust the grips so they don't slide forward when using the pliers? EDIT: I just ordered one. Gonna see if I can do anything about the sliding grips. Oh, forgot to add, you are a bit off on the weight for the wingman, i think it is like 6.7 ounces
Scissors plus pen and flashlight would be a buy
I'll stay with my 32 year old Victorinox Swiss Champion. Besides, no muilti-tool will spend any significant amount of time in my pocket with out every thing that this SOG has, AND a good saw, scissors and tweezers !
Damn. You must have giant back pockets.
First minute looking at wood. Great job
Thanks for that. Great handy tool!
The rebar is the best.
as soon as you really put pressure on a nut or bolt with the jaws of the plier, the handles slide up. It's almost impossible to get a good grip with those jaws.
Why regular pliers instead of needle-nose pliers?
Do you ever accidentally deploy it by pulling it out of your pocket? Thank you.
incorporate a bottle opener that doubles as a can opener on the pull out feature. not just the bottle opener that it has one that works something like a p 38 and lower the price and I d say you have a decent knife.just my opinion . Also if I may say I always hear about the weight of knives and such the like these days. if a knife doesn't have weight to it . it's most likely not worth having:)
I'll stick with my Leatherman Wave, thanks. If you're going to try to reinvent the wheel, make sure that you make a better wheel: this isn't.
Victorinox Swiss Spirit is stronger stainless and a better tool.
Not interested in the baton series but the new powerpint looks good so far.
Everything is a very very fine point.
Isn’t the round hole in the pliers when they are almost closed wire strippers?
That scraper at 4.30 is damaged , the steel is obviously very soft .
I agree
Thats some nice wood ya got there
Would of been kewl if it could lock in closed position so that it also could be used as a self defence baton, and not just get the name of a baton due to its shape.
the thing is like 6" long....
Well most of us SOG EDC'S carry ar-15s. So.
I'm pretty sure you would destroy all of the tools if you tried to use it as a weapon or hammer, and it would be rather ineffectual as one regardless.
Interesting design. Very nice.
Still like the skeletool Cx more. The knife blade to me is the most important, pliers number two. At 80 bucks I expect a higher quality blade steel and grind.
I've read that the handles slide forward when using the pliers. Has this been a problem for you? It's the one thing keeping me from buying this,
How do you sit down if the multi-tool is in your back left pocket?
I've had a leatherman skelatool for the last 2 years. Best multi-tool I've ever had. Everything ya need. No useless eyeglass tool etc. Better price, better quality, and more useful. Also I agree don't talk to a blank screen. Cheers.
Love the innovation
I know what my next purchase will be!
Damn...had to wait 1:21 to see it. Shit
MotoPilot you’re a hero.
Yeah this guy isn't going anywhere with the video world.
This could be so much better. The name is baton; but it can't really be used as a baton. If it had a lock to lock the two halves together - imagine that. Also, you could pull that little blade out, lock the baton back up, and you'd have a knife over 6" long.
Uras Tus how is this a weapon?
I'm leaving the video at 3 minutes in because he talks more than he reviews
Yard sticks don't feel good in my pocket 😂
Was there a titanium coated edge on the punch?
WOW. It's like any other multitool. I'm dazzled.
its cool👍
If you want to actually see this tool, skip to 2:55 in this video, otherwise sit and listen to the speaker jabber for nearly 3 minutes!
But does it have a toothpick?
Where do you carry the Batarang?
Im happy with my leatherman sidekick
I'll never understand people who claim they're happy with what they have then go and watch videos of stuff they supposedly aren't looking for.
That's awesome, but I wish it didn't have a blade (a locking blade anyhow) so that it would be UK carry legal.
karasawa21797 find someone to put marks on it to look like a file 😉
Move to a country where you have the freedom to carry a pocket knife. My Lord.
Love looking at a wood slab for 3min before seeing the tool
Why do we have to wait for over a minute before we see the tool??
Because i guess i suck
StratosGear -no you don’t suck...you’re a Multi-tool evangelist!
Nice work on the video but the product is gimmicky at this price. Maybe a third of the price it would be more appealing. There are a lot better options out there at this price range.

They could probably get rid of the wiggle if they made it lock on the open and close!

I love my gerbers USA made and awesome warranty. Made in China should if guessed. It's an option though
The file is ment for what ever but you've got a single and double cut file
only thing i see needs changing is chisel should be moved to side closest to bevel or beveled flipped.
Jump to 1:22 to skip to the talky talky and get to the tool.
Skip to 2:23 anything before that is time you will never get back
Sorry
OMG! This could replace my skeletool!
Cool! Thank you
The chisel is on the wrong side.... having it that side makes the angle of use the maximum, when you want it minimum....
Big oversight there imo, makes me lose trust in the design when I see things like that.
If the grind was facing the other direction, how exactly would you sharpen it?
I’m sold going to buy
Crappy Phillips screwdriver bit. Once it gets worn, it cannot be readily replaced like a leatherman tool does.
With all that crap in only one back pocket, do you have sciatica, or back problems yet?
+skeetwuzhere no, it's not heavy
Kid tools? or maybe tools for mobile devices.
its beautiful!!!
